Stopped in yesterday at this Sugar Llama's location. Picked up a two scoop cup of ice cream, one scoop of pistachio, the other was chocolate chocolate chip. I read a few Yelp reviews complaining about the portion size, but I thought the scoops were enormous. I brought it over to the nursing home my father is staying at, he loved the ice cream, was extremely happy with the treat (I'm on Keto currently, so I didn't have any ice cream myself). Asked him which flavor he liked better, he thought they were both great. Service was stellar also, I didn't catch the name of the employee who scooped out the ice cream, but she was very friendly & personable. I'll definitely be dropping into Sugar Llamas in Shelton again in the near future. read more

This may be an example of me ordering something that just wasn't the star of the menu. You walk in and it smells amazing, but there's a pillar in the way that kind of hides the cause of the smell (the donut side). This may be a spot that tries to do too much. I went with a Biscoff Layer, that truly lacked Biscoff overall. Entirely dominated by the cheesecake pieces. Weak on the Biscoff flavor. The price was also steep at nearly $12, for a cup that wasn't quite full. I might've been better off with a single scoop topped with Biscoff pieces. However, the team members were super friendly and offered us a few donuts while we waited for the second ice cream to be made. The donuts were incredibly fresh (made in-house), still warm, and dusted perfectly with cinnamon sugar. I could've eaten a dozen of those alone - they're the small ones. The shop layout should showcase the donut making station because it's pretty cool! read more

Unfortunately had a bad experience ordering 100 donuts for a coworkers birthday. They were haphazardly thrown together and sloppy. Not ready when agreed upon either. I will attach photos of the 100 donuts. We did count them and there are 100 in this photo. They were just smaller than their usual donuts, more round like a dunkin munchkin sphere and not donut shaped. We did let her know we were disappointed but she accused us of eating some of the donuts before taking this picture however, impossible because there are 100 of them here. I think she was just saying this as an excuse for sloppy work. Because of this, we won't be getting donuts from here anymore. It would have been way easier for her to acknowledge the mistake and apologize rather than being accusatory. It was strange. This place is adorable, and easily accessible in the TJ mall. Lots of creative options for ice creams and soft serves as well as toppings, reasonably priced. We created 2 custom sundaes which were delicious. the team is welcoming and super friendly. I decided to check out the new little plaza in shelton and came across this little dessert shop. My first impression was that there are a lot of options. The little store was a little packed, but it did not seem to faze the staff as they were efficient and courteous. I had no issues sampling a bunch of ice creams and even sampled a mini donut. I ended up going for "the summit," which included 6 mini donuts and 2 scoops of ice cream. The donuts are crispy, tasty, and essentially made to order. They were so good, with a slight sweet vanilla flavor l. You can add a bunch of topilpings to them free of charge, but I decided to go with the plain because they were truly really good on their own. Not overly sweet, and I figured the ice cream would act as a good topping (it really did). The ice cream was a whole thing. I went with a scoop of key lime pie and a scoop of snickerdoodle. The ice cream was insanely creamy, I was shocked to find that the key lime pie was non-dairy! I really loved sampling their flavors as well - this little shop definitely will give the other CT ice cream shops a run for their money. I was able to speak to one of the staff members, who I assume is an owner, because she had such deep knowledge about the restaurant and where they are headed. The ice cream is made by them, and while currently the custom cakes are the traditional chocolate, vanilla, with cookie crumble, they eventually plan to expand on their flavor options. All in all, this little shop is super cute, has plenty of parking, and the staff is friendly, helpful, and attentive. I plan to come back whenever I get the chance and try all of their unique and delicious premium ice cream flavors. And I've got to get myself a cake, because wow. read more

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT! Discovering this spot made me happy all day long. The donuts are insanely great, made on the spot and addictively delicious. They're the perfect one-bite size to enjoy without ever being doughy. Pop one in your mouth, roll your eyes back in delight, and then go back into the box to try a different topping. (I say stick with cinnamon sugar; the donuts don't need much more than that to bring on a food-induced wave of delight!). I got my order, left the store, and enjoyed a few donuts in the car. Then I realized that the nearby office I'd just been visiting would love a surprise donut delivery. Went back and Yolanda made it all happen; even after I gave her the wrong address. She went 110% to satisfy, and that's just so rare these days. The place is spotless and welcoming, even the restroom is decorated with all things Llama. You should eat here because the product is amazing. You should come back here because the owner is truly committed and delightful to engage with. Given the good reviews, I wanted to try this place for ice cream. The staff was friendly and helpful. They let me taste a couple of flavors so I could make a choice. Unfortunately, the ice cream was mediocre at best, and it was excessively sweet -- mostly sugar with some cream and flavoring added. Now I understand why it's called "Sugar Llamas." Plus it was super expensive. More than 5 dollars for a small scoop. Frankly, supermarket ice cream is a lot tastier and a lot less expensive. My poor wife, who is diabetic, had a small amount and needed to take extra insulin on the way home. If you like super sweet ice cream and have money to burn, this is the place to go. read more

Found this place on Yelp. Donuts are delicious. I put Nutella on them. My son got the summit with chocolate velvet and maple praline. The chocolate was delicious I didn't care for the maple but that was just me. It cost $10 a little high but once in a while it's ok. I so much wanted to like this place. First, your clothes pick up the grease in the air from their donut machine - takes days to wear off. Second, they claim that the ice cream is made all-natural and made by hand. That's all fine, except banana flavoring instead of real fruit is not acceptable for banana ice cream at $9.00/pint. The strawberry flavor was half gone in the case and I saw one lone strawberry in the tub. Looked like it was full of beet juice coloring - all natural but not at all premium. For something as important as "all natural", it's not in print anywhere in the store. Premium is premium ingredients, made with care and providing a great experience in service and quality. Unfortunately, this place falls short and is excessively over-priced for what they deliver. The owners would be better off ditching the dumb franchise, getting a very small, cheap store, and simply making pure homemade ice cream with the best ingredients and no shortcut flavorings or "natural" colorings. Between this and former favorite Arethusa it's not even close. My brother and I walked in and were offered sample mini donuts that on par with Duck Donuts' donuts. The ice cream is made fresh daily and the taste comes through. We were enthusiastically offered samples when we asked about the flavors (our first time here). The woman working there baking the donuts is very kind and clearly passionate about what she's doing and the wellbeing of both the shop and the customers who come here. The shop's white and blue interior has a boardwalk feeling that's really nice to be inside personally. I'm hoping the absolute best for this place and will be coercing my family to come often. I usually have pictures of wherever I eat because I like looking back on apple's image map, but we cleared the sundae so fast I forgot to. Will make sure to change that next time!!!!!! They almost melt in your mouth. They are bite sized and come in so many varieties. I got the cinnamon sugar and honey ones. Also got two scoops of ice cream - cookie monster and cookies and cream.
