Stopped in yesterday at this Sugar Llama's location. Picked up a two scoop cup of ice cream, one scoop of pistachio, the other was chocolate chocolate chip. I read a few Yelp reviews complaining about the portion size, but I thought the scoops were enormous. I brought it over to the nursing home my father is staying at, he loved the ice cream, was extremely happy with the treat (I'm on Keto currently, so I didn't have any ice cream myself). Asked him which flavor he liked better, he thought they were both great. Service was stellar also, I didn't catch the name of the employee who scooped out the ice cream, but she was very friendly & personable. I'll definitely be dropping into Sugar Llamas in Shelton again in the near future. read more

Whole place smells of old reused grease. Bought variety of flavors, when we arrived at destination, all of the contents ended up mixing with each other. It was ugly and not presentable. The flavors mixed all together! Prep was also too slow. 1 person did the cashier n cooking at the same time. read more

We stopped in for a dessert nightcap after dinner nearby. There was one person in front of us who ordered some crazy donut/ice cream concoction that took 20 minutes to make. We just wanted to grab an ice cream and it took forever. The ice cream was fine, nothing special. The employee apologized for the wait, but it just wasn't staffed well. read more

Cute little sweet shop They sell homemade mini donuts (their claim to fame), ice cream, specialty coffees, jarred cakes, dubai cake jar, and teas and have a wide range of items to take home . The staff was attentive and it was nice to watch them make the donuts It's pretty pricey Very cute inside They take credit card and ample parking as it's in a shopping plaza read more

Unfortunately had a bad experience ordering 100 donuts for a coworkers birthday. They were haphazardly thrown together and sloppy. Not ready when agreed upon either. I will attach photos of the 100 donuts. We did count them and there are 100 in this photo. They were just smaller than their usual donuts, more round like a dunkin munchkin sphere and not donut shaped. We did let her know we were disappointed but she accused us of eating some of the donuts before taking this picture however, impossible because there are 100 of them here. I think she was just saying this as an excuse for sloppy work. Because of this, we won't be getting donuts from here anymore. It would have been way easier for her to acknowledge the mistake and apologize rather than being accusatory. It was strange. The whole thing just created an embarrassing reveal of the donuts at the party lol read more

This place is adorable, and easily accessible in the TJ mall. Lots of creative options for ice creams and soft serves as well as toppings, reasonably priced. We created 2 custom sundaes which were delicious. the team is welcoming and super friendly. Only downside- There was a burnt oil smell in the store when we were there which unfortunately followed us home on our clothes. read more

This may be an example of me ordering something that just wasn't the star of the menu. You walk in and it smells amazing, but there's a pillar in the way that kind of hides the cause of the smell (the donut side). This may be a spot that tries to do too much. I went with a Biscoff Layer, that truly lacked Biscoff overall. Entirely dominated by the cheesecake pieces. Weak on the Biscoff flavor. The price was also steep at nearly $12, for a cup that wasn't quite full. I might've been better off with a single scoop topped with Biscoff pieces. However, the team members were super friendly and offered us a few donuts while we waited for the second ice cream to be made. The donuts were incredibly fresh (made in-house), still warm, and dusted perfectly with cinnamon sugar. I could've eaten a dozen of those alone - they're the small ones. The shop layout should showcase the donut making station because it's pretty cool! read more

This place is so cute offered a good variety of ice cream flavors beverages and mini doughnuts. I got the pistachio affogato. I think pistachio was their best flavor to be honest. We tried some of their other ice cream flavors but that was top tier. The servers were super friendly. It's a cool place to come and enjoy some ice cream and be on your way. There are seating areas. read more

Hello, the person that took care of us. Looked very measurable, didn't smile? I could not understand what she was saying. Chocolate peanut butter was not bad. I'll give it a 7 out of 10. Your coffee mocha tasted like bland Vanilla Ice cream and not 1 bit of coffee flavor whatsoever. That entire cup for $6.99 was thrown in your trash read more

I decided to check out the new little plaza in shelton and came across this little dessert shop. My first impression was that there are a lot of options. The little store was a little packed, but it did not seem to faze the staff as they were efficient and courteous. I had no issues sampling a bunch of ice creams and even sampled a mini donut. I ended up going for "the summit," which included 6 mini donuts and 2 scoops of ice cream. The donuts are crispy, tasty, and essentially made to order. They were so good, with a slight sweet vanilla flavor l. You can add a bunch of topilpings to them free of charge, but I decided to go with the plain because they were truly really good on their own. Not overly sweet, and I figured the ice cream would act as a good topping (it really did). The ice cream was a whole thing. I went with a scoop of key lime pie and a scoop of snickerdoodle. The ice cream was insanely creamy, I was shocked to find that the key lime pie was non-dairy! I really loved sampling their flavors as well - this little shop definitely will give the other CT ice cream shops a run for their money. I was able to speak to one of the staff members, who I assume is an owner, because she had such deep knowledge about the restaurant and where they are headed. The ice cream is made by them, and while currently the custom cakes are the traditional chocolate, vanilla, with cookie crumble, they eventually plan to expand on their flavor options. All in all, this little shop is super cute, has plenty of parking, and the staff is friendly, helpful, and attentive. I plan to come back whenever I get the chance and try all of their unique and delicious premium ice cream flavors. And I've got to get myself a cake, because wow. read more

If you haven't been to Sugar Llama yet, you're missing out! We ordered our wedding cake from them, and it was honestly perfect! It was beautifully designed, super fresh, and absolutely delicious. So many guests asked where it was from because it truly stood out. We also added their ice cream cupcakes, and they were a total hit. They were fun, unique, and insanely good. Their premium ice cream is so rich and creamy, you'll never want to go back to regular ice cream again. And don't sleep on their coffee it's legit! Pro tip: get the affogato with Coffee Bean Mocha Chip ice cream. It's next-level and the ultimate treat. We're so glad we found Sugar Llama. Whether it's for a special occasion or just for a treat you won't be disappointed. Highly recommend! read more

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT! Discovering this spot made me happy all day long. The donuts are insanely great, made on the spot and addictively delicious. They're the perfect one-bite size to enjoy without ever being doughy. Pop one in your mouth, roll your eyes back in delight, and then go back into the box to try a different topping. (I say stick with cinnamon sugar; the donuts don't need much more than that to bring on a food-induced wave of delight!). But what's (almost) even better than amazingly delicious donuts is being greeted by a shop owner who beams with friendliness, is genuinely happy to help, and proudly describes all her offerings. I got my order, left the store, and enjoyed a few donuts in the car. Then I realized that the nearby office I'd just been visiting would love a surprise donut delivery. Went back and Yolanda made it all happen; even after I gave her the wrong address. She went 110% to satisfy, and that's just so rare these days. The place is spotless and welcoming, even the restroom is decorated with all things Llama. You should eat here because the product is amazing. You should come back here because the owner is truly committed and delightful to engage with. Wanted to try the ice cream, but the donuts were definitely the unique treat and having both was not an option. Then I was told they supply the homemade ice cream for Mercado, which I'd enjoyed the night before at dinner. Check! BTW, locals pointed me to Crumbl (in the same strip) where I spent 9 bucks for 3 choc chip cookies so sickeningly oversweet I literally spit the first one out. Sorry to throw shade, and that doesn't make this spot better, but if you're deciding on where to splurge on a sweet treat, the choice isn't hard. No, I'm not related to these people or otherwise connected, in spite of this gushing review. I just love what they do, and I genuinely want to root for them (and eat their donuts!) You will, too! In my book, I found the best treat to be had in town, and I can't wait for business to bring me back to Shelton for more! read more

Way too delicious for its own good. All the donuts were amazing, and I had the most perfect milkshake!

My husband ordered my birthday cake from here, and it was absolutely DELICIOUS--hands down the best ice cream cake I've ever tasted! You could tell it was made from scratch with care. The design was elegant and beautiful--almost too pretty to cut into. The cake itself was creamy and smooth with just the right amount of sweetness. The rich chocolate crumbles added the perfect texture and flavor. Every layer was perfection. You can truly taste the quality and love put into it. Highly recommend! read more

Found this place on Yelp. Donuts are delicious. I put Nutella on them. My son got the summit with chocolate velvet and maple praline. The chocolate was delicious I didn't care for the maple but that was just me. It cost $10 a little high but once in a while it's ok. I got a small cone with mint chocolate chip paid $6 but they gave alot of ice cream. Definitely will come back for those donuts read more

The donuts are so cute. And they had my order done super quick. The store is clean and the staff was really nice!

Given the good reviews, I wanted to try this place for ice cream. The staff was friendly and helpful. They let me taste a couple of flavors so I could make a choice. Unfortunately, the ice cream was mediocre at best, and it was excessively sweet -- mostly sugar with some cream and flavoring added. Now I understand why it's called "Sugar Llamas." Plus it was super expensive. More than 5 dollars for a small scoop. Frankly, supermarket ice cream is a lot tastier and a lot less expensive. My poor wife, who is diabetic, had a small amount and needed to take extra insulin on the way home. If you like super sweet ice cream and have money to burn, this is the place to go. read more

I so much wanted to like this place. First, your clothes pick up the grease in the air from their donut machine - takes days to wear off. Second, they claim that the ice cream is made all-natural and made by hand. That's all fine, except banana flavoring instead of real fruit is not acceptable for banana ice cream at $9.00/pint. The strawberry flavor was half gone in the case and I saw one lone strawberry in the tub. Looked like it was full of beet juice coloring - all natural but not at all premium. For something as important as "all natural", it's not in print anywhere in the store. Premium is premium ingredients, made with care and providing a great experience in service and quality. Unfortunately, this place falls short and is excessively over-priced for what they deliver. The owners would be better off ditching the dumb franchise, getting a very small, cheap store, and simply making pure homemade ice cream with the best ingredients and no shortcut flavorings or "natural" colorings. I believe customers would beat a path to their door. read more

I have a dairy allergy and the owner went out of her way to make me a dairy free dessert. Sugar llamas makes the BEST dairy free ice cream I have ever had. Randomly popped in to this sweet spot The business has not been open for long (small businesses take grit)- and I think it's important to give grace for such delicious donuts. These mini donuts are absolutely phenomenal! Honestly my family and I were blown away at all the flavors they offer and how delicious and fresh the donuts were. They were even warm! Prices reasonable for the product. Staff very friendly, when you first walk in they welcome you. The place is cute with a few tables. Very clean. I have been twice, the first time it was quick service and the second time we waited ALOT longer for our donut order even though they had alot of staff and I saw a lot of donuts cooked and sitting there. They also offer ice cream and other goodies that look great too! Will definitely be back again! read more

Donuts were absolutely amazing. The owner was extremely kind as well the staff. I got the cinnamon donuts and the maple with bacon. They were so good. I went into the store around 7:30pm and was greeted by a very funky smell. It was a real turn off. The girls behind the counter were talking to each other and weren't very friendly or welcoming. Nothing amazing, outrageous prices, and they don't know how to make an ice cream sundae. I ordered an ice cream sundae and the person put whip cream on first, then the hot fudge around the edges. Strange. Then the milkshake, which is on the menu for $7, came to $10, I asked why and apparently a shake with "hard ice cream costs more". Not impressed and with so many ice cream places around, no reason to return here. read more

Between this and former favorite Arethusa it's not even close. My brother and I walked in and were offered sample mini donuts that on par with Duck Donuts' donuts. The ice cream is made fresh daily and the taste comes through. We were enthusiastically offered samples when we asked about the flavors (our first time here). The woman working there baking the donuts is very kind and clearly passionate about what she's doing and the wellbeing of both the shop and the customers who come here. The shop's white and blue interior has a boardwalk feeling that's really nice to be inside personally. I'm hoping the absolute best for this place and will be coercing my family to come often. I usually have pictures of wherever I eat because I like looking back on apple's image map, but we cleared the sundae so fast I forgot to. Will make sure to change that next time!!!!!! Visited for the first time yesterday. It was DELICIOUS. Didn't really think I was going to love the doughnuts as much as I did but I was VERY wrong. They are the best doughnuts I've ever had. They almost melt in your mouth. They are bite sized and come in so many varieties. I got the cinnamon sugar and honey ones. Also got two scoops of ice cream - cookie monster and cookies and cream. Both were very good. Also got a caramel frappe and it was great as well. Everything is homemade! The doughnuts are made right in front of you. Service was quick and the building is very bright and welcoming. 10/10 recommend. read more
