This space is like a gravity pool filled with so many different reasons to keep you... one might say, GROUNDED! There are a myriad of different espresso and non-espresso based drinks that will keep you coming back here or sticking around to study or read in the cafe area. Pastries galore as well! Great place for a well done iced coffee! Beautiful seating and interior decor! Friendly people behind the counters!

Common ground never fails me. Today I enjoyed a large matcha latte with oat milk and SF vanilla and a delicious chicken wrap. I ordered online and picked up my order through the drive through. Service was very speedy.

Cool spot in Shelton. Some tables outside and the inside smell amazing. Multiple options for drinks frozen, smoothies, iced and hot. Two young girls working greeted me when I came in. One of them explained about the coffee beans displayed, flavors, and about the menu. I was the only customer but it was around dinner time and a Friday night. Hope this shop is there the next time Im in Shelton.

Recently I stopped at Common Grounds for a treat. They have a variety of pastries available including cakes, cookies, muffins, biscotti and many more items. Some of the treats available were gluten free and paleo which I thought was great that they had options for people with different dietary needs. The coffee shop also offers smoothies, teas, and coffee that can be prepared at least 10 different ways. The interior had a cool vibe with lots of seating available . It looks like a great place to sit and work or meet up with friends. After looking at all of the available treats I decided to get the cheesecake cone. It was good, but the texture of the cream cheese filling was tacky (it could be due to it being straight out of the refrigerated cooler) and had a light cream cheese flavor. The filing seemed more like a frosting rather than cheesecake filling. Additionally, the price was not aligned with the item. The one cheesecake cone was 6.00 which I did not think was worth it. The service was kind of rushy. I got the vibe that they wanted me to hurry up and select something. I love that they have enormous coffee bean bags throughout the coffee shop.

My go to "work from home" coffee shop! It is the perfect setting to get some work done while enjoying delicious coffee. It is spacious with plenty of seating and fast wifi. The staff is extremely kind and it always makes for a pleasant afternoon! The coffee is to DIE for! I don't like sweet/sugary coffee but Common Grounds offers specials that are great flavors without any of the sweetness! They come in hot or iced and they typically have a decaf flavor as well. Another big perk is the milk/sugar station. They allow you to put in your own milk (even almond) so you can have your perfect coffee. We love all their locations, but Shelton is our home base!

So glad they are reopened. I was concerned they'd be gone after the shutdown. People, please support your local businesses. Common Grounds has a ton of paleo and gluten free items, which is awesome. And, there's ample seating both inside and outside. This is probably one of the only indie coffee places around this area when you come to think of it. Please support them. They also have non-dairy creamer out and easily accessible.

Latte wasn't great and baked items tasted like the refrigerator. Was really hoping to find a Starbucks alternative.

This location is where the Shearwater beans are actually roasted (in 20lb batches, which counts as "really small" in the coffee industry). When I came by, I received a friendly and enthusiastic greeting from the personnel on site, who expressed no annoyance at being diverted from their normal wholesale activities. Shearwater has good beans, and those beans are roasted with care. I came in for some ground coffee that I could use while visiting Central Connecticut and walked away with a full pound of roasted coffee in the bean, 12oz of ground coffee, and a cold brew coffee to drink on my way back. The cold brew was delicious, and I liked the ground coffee (Honduras, I think) as well. The unground coffee made its way down to Philadelphia, where it's giving great pleasure to its recipients. Although Shearwater has espresso machines and some pour-over equipment on site, only the cold brew was available to retail customers like me. That was fair enough, but still somehow disappointing. If you're around Trumbull and are looking for some excellent coffee to take home, head directly to Shearwater without passing Go. Check their hours before you do, though; note for example that they close at 2PM on Fridays.

That being said, they always have at least one coffee brewing. On this early weekday afternoon, I got a 12 ounce of the Running Rapids (usually their cold brew) for $3.19. As other Yelpers have mentioned, there's no milk or sugar, leading to a pure and complex coffee experience. After letting it cool a bit, it was very deep and flavorful. It was nice to see a bit of the operation since the space is open. There are a few shelves with coffee accessories and a few stools for perching.
