Met with my family here for a quick ice cream treat. My family arrived before me, and was already seated with their ice cream when I arrived. While it was somewhat busy at the counter. I was ignored for a good two minutes. After I gave up and just sat down with my family to enjoy time with them, I noticed how poorly maintained the restaurant is. my family had to continually shoo gnats away from the food. (I am referring to the Ice Cream, not the other food.) And I have felt the same way as other reviewers about the staff. It's also crazy inside. Very hot, kids running everywhere, loud, just not for me. This area does seem somewhat limited on Ice Cream places. Newtown has more then Monroe. I do know people who like this Dairy Queen but I don't. And to anyone reading looking for a place to go for Ice Cream, there is Uncle Al's which I just very recently tried and they are pretty good. This location is very dirty. I would never think of ordering actual food here, ordering ice cream is as far as I will go and it's only because my son loves Blizzards. The floor and tables are always filthy, you can barely see out the windows they are so streaked, and the 'cute' cow benches are covered in what was old multi-colored melted ice cream and sprinkles. Great customer service. I'm a regular at this location so my face is very recognizable to the employees, they know exactly how I like my hot dogs thrown at me. Each evening I enter this establishment and pay $26.43 for dogs to be pelted at my face upon opening the door. They have great blizzards, I've ordered multiple of the NY cheesecake. :) read more

If I could give negative stars I would. DO NOT GO HERE! They do not care for their customers AT ALL. I ordered a blizzard cake on 7-AUG, received the confirmation email, tried to pick it up on 12-AUG and they had NO RECORD OF MY CAKE. The lady in the store was very sympathetic and apologized over and over. She even offered to make the cake for me to pick up in a few hours so we did that. I came back around 7:30pm to pick up the cake. It was made, not correctly, but made. I then asked for a discount because it was not made when it should have been and it also was not made correctly. The people there (which were also SUPER young) had to call their manager and ask. THE MANAGER GAVE ME 5% OFF. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?????? That's a slap in the face. I will never go back here, and I will ensure anyone that asks me about it, they are fully aware of how we were ripped off. I honestly don't understand why this Dairy Queen gets bad reviews. First, Dairy Queen is popular, so there will be a line in the summer or on a Friday night...doesn't that make sense? As for the staff, it can be hit or miss. Most often, I've experienced a pleasant staff that works quickly to complete your order...now and then we've had a gloomy employee, but they've never given us dirty looks or glares as another reviewer has mentioned. The other night we got a blizzard from Dairy Queen after karate class and the girl working behind the counter was extremely nice and friendly. For comments regarding this location being closed, they seemed to be going through renovations that took wayyyy too long...not sure what type of issues they were dealing with, but ever since they've reopened, their hours have been consistent. This location is updated and clean with plenty of indoor seating, public restrooms and convenient parking. Also keep in mind that this is a family environment, so you may actually have to deal with kids running around (which I've experienced at most ice cream shops). Our family has been to other Dairy Queens and this one has always been our favorite! read more

I went in and it's friday night, i get it it's busy, the kids who work there would much rather be somewhere else than working. However i really did not appreciate the dirty glares and staring from one employee in particular. I was standing in line with my boyfriend and she would past passed and into the back glaring at me. I ordered a heart cake and I wanted it to say "Happy Birthday Tiki we love you man". But noooooooo!!!! I get told that the cake is "too small" what is that? I should get what I want. Don't waste your time. It's 100 degrees and they aren't open. Across the street is a McDonalds. I am going to get ice cream there. What's weird about DQ is they have lights and the computers are on, but clearly it's out of business. They have what looks like fake cakes in a dark freezer that isn't on. Don't waste your time taking the drive out there, the ice cream is fine... IF you can find them open. This is my second issue - went there at lunch (1pm) on a friday in June. The store should have opened at 10:30am, but nobody was there there. No sign, nothing. This is my second time in 6 months dealing with them, last time was the day I was supposed to pick up my daughters birthday cake (we ordered it in advance and had spoken to them the day before about us coming to get it). But I went to go there, we had about 1/2 inch of snow on the ground and they were closed - no call to us, couldn't find anyone when we called, nothing. Everytime I bring my family here the employees seem annoyed to have to wait on us. Our blizzards were almost liquid, when I mentioned it the girl snarled at me because the Royal has hot fudge in it. Always prefer Dairy Queen ice cream over other brands, but it would be helpful to know what their seasonal hours are. The website is misleading and gives no indication that they are closed for the winter months. I had to scramble last minute for an ice cream. I was not happy with my experience at Dairy Queen last night. I went with my two children to get ice cream and was taken back at how the boss treated and acted with his employees in front of customers. First of all, he had no patience with the teenage employees and made them feel bad about themselves. Next her looked like he just drank a whole bottle of alcohol and smoked something in the back. I felt very dirty watching him touch all of the tools and lost my appetite. These employees look scared to be working with their boss and definitely deserve a raise!
