Went for a quick lunch. PARKING - pretty ample as the establishment is in the stop and shop strip mall by the town hall. ENTRANCE - they have a hostess station but it was an empty lunch session. However, a person quickly saw us and took us to a booth AMBIANCE - looks somewhat new with redone booths and a gray color scheme. Plenty of tables. They have a separate area where they obviously do takeout pretty heavy. Pizza I suspect. LUNCH MENU - fairly large with a variety of items to choose from APPETIZERS - tried the broccoli rape dish with sausage. It was prepared differently and the design with white beans, sun dried tomatoes, and thin chips on top was unique. The mixture was quite good. Only draw back was the broccoli rape was a little bitter SPECIAL ORDER - they were kind enough to take a Caesar salad order, and make it a wrap with chicken. ENTREE - I tried the linguini pomodoro that fell short. The sauce had way to much cheese so you couldn't taste the pomodoro flavor. A low point for me SERVICE - our waiter was spectacular. Friendly and super attentive. PRICE - for lunch it was reasonable. One appetizer, a wrap, an entree and 2 sodas came to $55 before tip. OVERALL - this is mixed for me. The chicken was the most tender delicious chicken that I've ever had in a restaurant and I am obsessed with it I definitely need to go back. The service was great there was a lot of indoor seating. There is also bar seating it seemed like it was a local regular. Definitely a local favorite. I can't wait to go back and try more options. read more

Old Towne Restaurant is an American diner-style restaurant that opened in Trumbull, Connecticut in 1989. It was founded by Greek immigrant and restaurateur George Kotsaftis. Born in Lapata, Greece, Kotsaftis immigrated to Connecticut with his family when he was 15-years-old. As an adult, he became a restaurateur and opened businesses such as J's Pizza in Danbury and Newtown Pizza Palace. By 1989, he had opened Old Towne Restaurant in Trumbull and cemented himself as a beloved businessman in the local community. At Old Towne, customers can choose from a variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner dishes that are prepared with fresh ingredients brought in daily. After 10 years in business, Old Towne moved into a neighboring space at the plaza and doubled in size, adding a private event room in the process. Kotsaftis retired from the restaurant business in 2000 and Old Towne was taken over by his children Dean and Catherine. The elder Kotsaftis passed away in 2024. My wife and I recently had lunch at Old Towne Restaurant. She had already visited a number of times and was excited for me to try the food there. The interior was nice with a big dining room as well as a fancy bar area which looked a little newer. Our server gave us some complimentary cheesy bread to munch on while we looked over the menu. My wife ordered the same thing that she orders every time she comes: the "Old Towne Chicken Salad" (baby greens, gorgonzola cheese, dried cranberries, candied walnuts, granny smith apples and char-broiled chicken breast with a side of house vinaigrette dressing). She remarked, "It's my favorite salad ever!" I decided to follow my wife's lead and go with a salad too. I chose one off of the specials menu: the "Mediterranean Steak Salad" (grilled ribeye steak on a bed of baby greens topped with fresh mozzarella, white beans, cherry tomatoes, Kalamata olives, garlic croutons, a sprinkle of parmesan cheese served with house-made creamy balsamic dressing). I recently had the pleasure of dining at this Italian-style/Greek restaurant, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. I had lunch with a friend here during the week as this was a location halfway between us. We were warmly greeted and promptly seated. The place is clean and fresh in terms of aesthetics. It's nice that the bar is separated from the main dining room in terms of noise reduction. Our waitress was attentive and our food came out in a timely manner. I had the mozzarella avocado special with breaded eggplant and tomoato and my friend had the eggplant sandwich. My friend enjoyed her meal and mine was also very delicious. The breaded eggplant was perfectly fried, crispy, but not heavy with grease and paired well with the fresh moz, avocado, tomato. Our entrees were both under $15, which is a decent deal given food prices. The meal is served with their house cheese bread, which was tasty and a nice addition while waiting for our meal. When I asked for a box for the remainder to bring home to my little kids she was so sweet and brought me a whole other fresh serving! A nice reminder that humanity still exists in a tough world. At least for a first time patron perspective if you want a reasonably priced meal, kind service, and solid tasting food with a decently diverse menu for an American Italian themed restaurant Old Towne is a worthy stop. Most kid menus are unhealthy, including this one, so I always try to give my 3 year old real "adult" food. I specifically chose Old Towne because I figured I could get a scoop of tuna for $9 or so, around the same price as the other options on the kid menu. I ordered myself the tuna melt which was $14.99 and included avocado, cheese, fries etc. The manager said she could NOT give me a scoop of tuna unless she charged me the full price of another tuna melt. She went on and on about the price of tuna. I am sorry but is this sushi grade tuna? Caviar of the Sea? Also how is a scoop of tuna with no bread, fries, avocado etc $14.99? The loss of a customer is much more than what it would have been to accommodate a simple request. The manager was neither polite nor understanding and frankly we won't be back. read more

But it seemed like it was about half the size of a normal sandwich. Moreover, the coleslaw smelled like literal rubbing alcohol, and tasted like it too. I wanted to give one star but I did have a few good experiences here before the COVID thing. Ordered onion soup... Was cold. Ordered pizza... Cold yet burned. It tasted like they cooked it earlier and then attempted to reheat hours later. They also must have left it at an angle on the first cooked attempt because the cheese mostly slid to one side. They make a yummy Chicken Francese and their Cobb salad is excellent as well. Chicken has a great fresh taste. They offer Pork Chops both breaded and non breaded so take your pick. And they have brunch on Sundays. If you have not had their Belgian waffles you should try them. Their presentation is so pretty you almost do not want to eat them. And now to the pizza! Spectacular! Try their sausage topping. They use real sausage on their pizza. It is so good I can't even put it into words. And they have thin style margherita pizza too if you like your pizza on the thin side. It's a cozy old town feeling with such memorable pictures displaying what Trumbull used to look like.
