More importantly the design is horrible as there is only one main egress to get out of the strip mall. AMBIANCE - the store is always pretty clean and the aisles are wide enough for 2 way traffic. VARIETY - pretty good when it comes to most things even Organic. However, if you are looking for ethnic items like Spanish or Latin or Island choices you'll have to go to Bridgeport. VEGETABLES - a high note because turn over is high so things are very fresh. PRICES - moderate at best. They have the sales etc. but lots of loss leaders. When I asked if there was an issue, she said no, yet continued to watch me. The behavior made me feel as though I was being unfairly suspected of wrongdoing or possibly racially profiled, which is completely unacceptable. I was simply shopping for my child's birthday. Although the manager I spoke with was respectful, the situation itself should never have happened. No customer should be made to feel targeted, judged, or uncomfortable while shopping. This needs to be taken seriously and addressed to ensure it does not happen to anyone else.

It certainly doesn't hurt that the meat he starts with is fabulous. Since I had many errands to run, I asked Steven if he had any ice I could use in my insulated bag. He graciously supplied me with several sealed bags of ice which would be sure to keep the pork safe until I reached home. We enjoyed them tonight. They also sell unwashed, unrefrigerated chicken eggs from a local farm. So great! I did buy these, but somehow they didn't make it into my bag which I did not discover until I got home, but other than that, service was super friendly and helpful. The prices are usually lower than any other grocery chain in the area. They have a good selection of products, though not nearly as many as a larger grocery chain. They carry their own brand products and I have found them as good as any name brand but at a much better price. They also carry Shoprite brand products as they are owned by the same parent company. As other reviewers have noted, they do not give bags for free. You can either bring your own, or they will sell you a fairly hefty, quite large and very reusable plastic bag for a dime. The produce prices are the best around, but you have to sort through some of the products to find the ones that are not over-ripe or less than acceptable. But the savings are well worth it. The store has an in house bakery and they make great stuff. The meats are very reasonably priced and I have never had an issue with freshness. But you should check expiration dates because you may find some either at the date, just before, or, on occasion, beyond the best by date. I have not found this an issue in their dairy section. The store has no deli, but they do sell a limited selection of pre-packed deli meats and cheeses under the Shoprite brand. The store sometimes gets backed up at check out if they are crowded and they fail to open enough registers, but the delay is not that long. They also have several self-check-out lanes if you have just a few items. If you don't mind bagging your own items, taking the time to sort through produce, checking expiration dates and having a selection of products less extensive than larger stores, this store will meet your needs and save you a good chunk of change.
