Abi's Falafel was really good! I got the chicken kabob platter and a shrimp salad, and both were fresh and full of flavor. The chicken was cooked perfectly, and the portions were generous. We also tried a few side dishes and enjoyed everything we ordered. The staff was friendly and the food came out fresh. I'll definitely be back to try more from the menu. If you're in Trumbull and looking for good Middle Eastern food, I'd recommend giving this place a try! read more

Tried this eatery once again during Trumbull Restaurant week. Outstanding offering of platters, wraps, and even burgers. Never disappointed. Plenty of outdoor seating with evening temps in the 60s. They get Bonus points for selling Del's Lemonade, but be sure to try their flavors of Gus' sodas too! read more

I ordered for pick up. Chicken pieces were salty, and dry. Dressing had too much lemon it was super sour. I had half a tomato in my salad, 4 chick peas, and small handful of lettuce all for 18 dollars. read more

Since Abis took over Laylas spot I am so happy. The food is great here. I go often.

We had Lamb and beef Sandwich it was Fresh and tasty food, service was amazing too will definitely repeat!

We had the lamb platter, falafel platter and a burger with fries. Everything was fresh and delicious.

What a find! Abi's is a small restaurant that has a surprisingly large selection of middle eastern cuisine, freshly made to order. They also have a plentiful prepared food selection that is great for take out on those nights you don't feel like cooking. Friendly staff and excellent food. We will surely be returning! read more

Excellent food, love the salads, the lamb chops, and my sisters swear by the chicken shawarma. Can't go wrong here!

From the moment you walk in the door, the amazing aroma hits you making it hard to decide on which dish to try. The owners were extremely warm and welcoming. We opted for the shawarma platter with the lentil rice. It was served with a side salad, humus and condiments... AND let me tell you.... It did not disappoint! 10/10. For the finishing touch we had baklava and that was also delish. The price for the quality and quantity of food is amazing. Highly recommend. read more

Abi’s Falafel - Chicken Shawarma Platter - Middle Eastern Near Me - Trumbull, Connecticut

My wife and I stopped into Abi's Falafel recently and we were both seriously impressed. This place is such a hidden gem. We ordered the Mixed Grill Platter and the Falafel Platter and everything was absolutely delicious -- super fresh, authentic, and full of flavor. The Mixed Grill had perfectly cooked lamb chops, chicken, and kefta. You could taste the spices in every bite, and the meat was juicy and tender. The Falafel Platter was just as good -- the falafel were crispy on the outside and soft inside, with really clean, fresh flavor (not greasy like you sometimes find elsewhere). Everything came with fresh pita, creamy hummus, and a light, refreshing salad. You can tell they care a lot about the ingredients they use and how the food is prepared -- nothing tasted rushed or cheap. The vibe inside is casual and comfortable. You walk up to the counter to order (there's a menu board right above), and they'll bring your food out to your table if you're dining in, or you can take it to go. The restaurant was super clean and well-kept, which we both appreciated. It just felt good being there. The owner and the staff were really friendly and welcoming too -- you could tell they genuinely appreciate every customer that comes through the door. It's always nice when you feel like your business is valued. Prices were very fair, especially considering the portion sizes and the quality of the food. It's also a great spot if you're vegetarian -- lots of meatless options that looked really good too. We will absolutely be recommending Abi's Falafel to friends and family, and we're already planning to come back soon to try even more of the menu. If you're looking for authentic Mediterranean food in the Trumbull area, this place is 100% worth the visit. read more

Management changed and I definitely like it better now. The food is great, good sized portions, but service could be better. The owner says the food is Halal, but they do serve beer/alcohol so eat at your own discretion. Food is definitely fresh and made to order, cute ambiance, but there is not much seating. Great option for takeout or a quick lunch. read more

This is my second time posting a review for Abi's Falafel in Trumbull, CT. My go to for a quick, delicious and healthy meal. Best middle eastern food in CT! They have the most delicious kebabs, shawarma, salads, falafel, hummus and homemade lemonade to name a few! If you are in mood for some authentic delicious Arabic food, you got to try this place! Highly recommend it! The portions are very generous. Good Arabic food that tastes absolutely amazing. I ordered chicken shawarma salad and beef kebab salad. Both a must try! Love the ambiance and the decor. The service is super fast. I can't rave enough about this place. They also have lot of parking in the rear of the restaurant. Last but not the least love the music and the vibe. I will give it 5/5 for sure! read more

We had a great meal at Abi's! The food was made fresh to order and still came out fairly quickly! Their hummus was insanely good, and the pita bread was so fresh. My fiancé and I enjoyed our platters - he had the kafta, and I had the lamb. We both agreed that the kafta was our favorite, and that the lamb could've been a bit more flavorful. The rice and salad on the platter were both very good, and I was addicted to the garlic sauce on the side! We liked the falafel as well. Everyone was friendly behind the counter and took good care of us while we dined in. I found that the restaurant was very clean too! read more

Huge fan of this place fir middle eastern food in CT. My go to lunch spot I love the Abi's shawarma. They are usually quick to serve but note if your ordering kabobs its a 20 minute wait which I don't mind since it means they are cooking it fresh. Clean little shop in trumbull you can dine in but I usually take them to go. If your new to Trumbull definitely check this place out I have not had a bad meal yet. read more

Having moved from NYC, I wanted authentic, affordable, and most importantly delicious Middle Eastern food. This place is really my go-to now. Everything tastes fresh and portion sizes are fair for the price. I have tried their chicken platter, chicken shawarma sandwich and also lamb salad. All are great. The lamb is very juicy and they give you a good amount. The sandwich is also not dry. I don't know what else to say, but you have to try this place out. I did notice they are closed Sundays and Mondays- but hey, just don't close every day. read more

We happened across this restaurant during our out of town trip and was so pleasantly surprised with how delicious everything was. From the shawarmas, to their incredibly juicy kafta kabobs, crispy falafels, and fresh sides, literally the best Palestinian cuisine we've had coming from the DMV area with a large number of middle eastern resaurants. Staff was also very friendly. read more

I love this place. We order take-out from here regularly, and everything on their menu is delicious. Even the cheeseburgers. I think they have the best cheeseburgers in town, actually. But everything we get there is tasty-- especially the falafel. The guy (maybe the owner) is lovely. Very friendly and attentive. It has a nice patio right on the green for anyone wanting to eat there. Great spot! read more

Always a great experience at Layla. You honestly can't go wrong with anything you order. The food is made to order seasoned well and bursting with flavor. I usually order the falafel or chicken sandwich both delicious and very filling! Staff are very pleasant and friendly, they always make great suggestions which taste amazing lol. This time I tried their desserts. I tried the baklava and pistachio pastry (can't remember the name). But bother we're mouth watering especially the baklava sweet n flaky need I say more just try it if you haven't before. You won't be disappointed lol. You can dine in or take out, I would recommend calling in your order if you are picking up to avoid waiting. read more

Wow. Outstanding. Beautiful presentation. Generous portions. Authentic. All made in house. Even the pickles. Best I've had outside of the old city of Jerusalem. What a place. Only sorry it took so long to discover this gem. read more

I tried their food today as it was well reviewed well . Well decorated and clean place to sit and eat . Heard that it was Laylas falafel before what I am really fond of it . Orders lamb platter and falafel platter with home made lemonade . Truly speaking, it really disappointed me . Lamb was not that good as it was on other Layla. Stiff meat with smell lamb smell , too much salty in falafel and hummus . Lemonade was good but really expensive. read more

Food is excellent so let's get that out of the way. I stop at the Stamford location when I'm in the area and am always pleased there. It's a total hole in the wall with top notch food. Stellar. This location - I'm not sure I'd return. Again, the quality is excellent but getting food out is much more than that. I went for a quick late lunch to find it empty with a couple local women who seemed to know the staff ordering items to go. I was pleased to see alcoholic options available even though I went only to have some baba ghanoush and side items. I waited awhile to order as chit chat was going on with the women and when the guy finally took my order of 3 side dishes - I was really surprised to get a bill of $20. It's your call if what I show in my photo justifies. But, for that price and how the place is set up, more formal than Stamford, I was kinda surprised to have to get up and get my own utensils in the corner. It's a strange combination of takeout and formal but not fitting into either category. So, my beef isn't with the quality of food but if you're going to charge higher prices, then it should be in line with the ambience. Hence, I'm not certain I'd return. I like having nice meals out with not one thought about $, or I like going to hole in the walls. Not some awkward in between stuff. Furthermore, I don't eat out to leave upset and feel the guy should've guided me more appropriately in ordering side dishes like guiding me to the mezze platter or something. But, honestly, I'd just wait to go to Layla's in another location. This little Trumbull plaza has four other food options so no need to give business to one that displeased me. I did enjoy the Middle Eastern music videos repeating "habibi", which reminded me of learning what that word meant on a bus ride from Israel to Jordan. ........... UPDATE after Owner's response posted: that's all you need to know about this place. Go to another Layla's location... read more

I remember first coming here when it went by its original name, and just like back then, I was won over by the food here! I've tried the chicken shawarma sandwich as well as the chicken and beef shawarma sandwich (I brought them for dinner and lunch for consecutive days at work) in my last visit, and they did not disappoint! So many tasty and wholesome toppings. The online ordering feature is about as seamless as can be. They are very true to their time estimates on how long the order will take to complete. I'm astonished with my experience at Abi's Falafel! Its hard to find authentic food these day... if you stop here, you've hit the jackpot! We were invited in to the sound of live singing and a lovely outdoor seating area. Upon walking in the smell of fresh food let us know we picked the right spot! The chicken shawarma and meza plater were both delightful. Everything was really well balanced in flavor and I genuinely couldn't stop eating. The gentleman who served us was both kind and attentive, he pays great attention to patrons and new faces alike with a very warm and inviting disposition.
