Two good-sized Maryland-style cakes, nicely seared and packed with crab (not filler). They came over a bed of fresh arugula and parmesan with a lemony kick and chili aioli that tied it together really well. The fish and chips were classic -- a big, flaky piece of wild cod fried golden. Fries were solid, tartar sauce hit the spot. Tried the crispy chicken sandwich too. Juicy chicken, cheddar, bacon, pickles, and the same chili aioli they used on the crab cakes. Really tasty combo, and the fries on the side were crisp. Food: For appetizers we ordered Brussel sprouts, topped with pumpkin seeds,bacon,and local honey. They were good. We also ordered the coconut shrimp w/ sweet chili sauce and that was definitely my favorite part of my meal. So delicious! Especially the sauce! Entree: I ordered the bacon cheese burger, it was good. Could have used a bit more seasoning on the meat and the bacon could have been cooked longer, but I did enjoy it. The French fries were delicious. Ambiance: cute little bar style. Very clean. Loved that there was a gentleman there singing. Not sure if this is just a weekend thing. We came on a Saturday. Lots of different types of people there. Very chill and cozy vibes. Loved the dimmed lighting. Service: sadly I forgot our servers name but wow was he great! Very patient, kind, and funny. Monroe Social is a hidden gem - an excellent spot to grab dinner with family or friends. We stopped in on a Saturday night with some family and had a great time. Got there early so ordered some fried pickles and the potato barrels, both of which were excellent. Then got the house burger, which was drowning in gooey cheese and bacon onion jam. Went here on a Sunday during brunch time. But there is brunch, lunch, and full menu options! I went for the steak and eggs, and I was surprised on how large my steak was, it was cooked perfectly. Also everyone at the table received the little red peppers on their plate and they are so good definitely try them. Just a cute quirky thing to mention. Hubby and I visited for the 2nd time 1/29/2025 at apx 5:15 pm. We sat at the bar as we only wanted a snack and a beverage. Jess promptly greeted us and took our drink order. The restaurant is surprisingly much bigger than it appears from the road. It was very clean with families, bar patrons, and couples mingled in. Jess recommended two amazing appetizers, cheddar potato kegs and chicken dumplings. Omg! Both are so tasty and delicious. The potato kegs are light and fluffy, crazy good. The sauce for them is very mild. We recommend an added sauce with a bit of heat added. We also met a regular, Bryan who was very helpful and one of the owners who was very friendly and printed us the menu for Super Bowl Sunday. Check the website for more info on superbowl. Monroe Social is one of our stand-by's. The food here is excellent, and I have never had a bad meal here. Service is usually quick, and the drinks are excellent as well. I should note that the beer selection is pretty good, too. We like the specials, which vary nightly, and the friendly, laid-back atmosphere. My only criticism is that sometimes the entree portions can be small, depending upon your order. I would watch that. Over all, this is a great neighborhood place with upscale cuisine. read more

Ok wow! We unintentionally came here for brunch at 1 on Sunday. We heard there was a steak deal on Sundays so we planned on that but everything on the brunch menu sounded awesome and it was too early for the steak dinner. Didn't plan on eating that type of food but changed our mind either way. I started off with a cappuccino and it was delicious. There were 6 of us, 3 of us got the steak and eggs special. My mom got the fish and chips from the regular menu and my husband got a crispy chicken sandy from the regular menu too. Everyone enjoyed their food a lot! I got the chicken and waffles from the brunch menu and it was perfect!! It was boneless chicken, easy to eat and so flavorful. Best chicken and waffles spin I've had! I want it again :) service was great, ambiance cute! There was a private party in a room to the side which looked like a great idea and I'd inquire about that in the future! I usually don't make reviews but this visit needed to be reviewed. This was the first time me and my wife came to this restaurant for our date night. My wife drove by this restaurant on her way to work everyday and thought we should try it. This was a Friday night about a week or two ago. it was decently busy the 2 servers looked like they didnt know what they were doing. No host on duty we waited up at the host stand for a good 10 minutes before someone greeted us. The ambiance was nice. The waiter was mediocre not very attentive. My steak was very overcooked. I did not complain because it was busy and I didnt think it would be resolved in a timely fashion because my wife was already finished with her burger. My wife's burger bun was black and her fries were undercooked. We finished at the table. We saw that they had karaoke. So we figured we would stay for a drink since we only had wine with dinner. It was pretty busy for karaoke the bartender took about 5 minutes to greet us even though she looked right at us. Then it took her about 20 minutes to actually get our drinks after we ordered. On a busy night like this there should be 2 bartenders. She looked like she was on something just by looking at her mannerisms but the drinks were ok my wife ordered an espresso martini and I ordered an old fashion. They were average for how long we waited for them. The karaoke DJ was ok. After our whole visit we will not be coming back. read more

Saturday afternoon lunch with my son. Fairly empty so my expectations were not too high. The waitress brought us the lunch's Dan brunch menus. I asked for the regular one and she brought that as well. I ordered the cheesesteak panini from r lunch menu and my son had a the fried chicken breast with fries from the regular menu. Mine was okay, his was great. The fries were very good as well. We aren't often in the area and I wouldn't go out of my way to stop in again. The service was very slow. Always a solid meal to be had at monroe social. Lovely wait staff who are patient with my 3 kids, good drinks and fantastic food. We went tonight and there's all day happy hour and the apps were $3.00 off! Score! We ordered so many - and I was able to use it as my meal. Everyone else at the table ordered an actual meal and everything went (we really like food and we're hungry). My top choices were the steamed Buffalo chicken meatballs and the chicken dumplings but my favorite was the coconut shrimp. I didn't expect them to be nearly as delicious as they were. My burrata salad with prosciutto and tomato was good- not the beat burrata I have ever had (actually was more like mozzarella) but still good. Wow!! What a fun time 2 weekends in a row at Karaoke! Not only was the Karaoke team amazing and made for a fun night out..but, the staff and bar crowd was sooo fun! The 2 people who really stood out was the owner..who was very personable and welcoming to our group. And, we couldn't be happier with our waitress/bartender Candra! She was so accommodating, patient and organized (not always an easy thing with a large group getting separate tabs!) She did her job VERY well!! Sometimes the staff at restaurants can really ruin a good time, but she really added only good things to our night, and her efforts did not go unnoticed! The food was very good. We had several different apps and dinner..and no one had any complaints! We will definitely be back again! read more

This was my 1st time eating in. The service was wonderful. Melody was beyond pleasant, attentive & accommodating. I ordered chicken & waffles which was great. We ordered the homemade gelato - strawberry & vanilla - but it tasted like ice cream vs gelato (not creamy & smooth) but still was fine. I will say though, even for brunch, it's so loud. The acoustics aren't the best in this space. I prefer to not have to raise my voice or lean across the table to interact w/my party. Also, they only had milk or cream for their cappuccino. It would be great to have @ least 1 alternative milk option (I love oat but anything-soy, almond,...). I would definitely return though as overall it was a pleasant experience. read more

We have gone to Monroe social quite a few times. The guacamole is surprisingly some of the best in the area and the wings are great too. The only issue once was an undercooked burger with no cheese on it for the kids but it was an easy fix. I was upset to see the burrata come off the menu (the cauliflower crisps were unique and flavorful). However, we are looking forward to trying the new menu. My only complaint is sometimes service is spotty in the dining room but usually up to standards in the bar! read more

We, us all from Los Angeles ended up this pretty much Californian upscale bistro like place in Monroe, CT and extremely satisfied with the food and service. Like a decent restaurant in Europe, they left us alone with great food unless we asked them something. Not like checking on us constantly or something. I liked that. Food was healthy CA style in good way. Very much photogenic also. We were happy with crab cakes, burger with fries and all. It would be wonderful if it was less cold here. Quick stop on the way to a winery and it was a very pleasant surprise. First of all, the restaurant is nicely decorated inside. The staff is very friendly. The food was very good. This place is beautiful. I have only been here once but was very impressed. I stopped here with one other person and it was a very nice time. I came here awhile back, not recently and just forgot to review. It has an almost ethereal feel inside. And it is very different from other places in Monroe..in a good way! They had not been opened all that long when I came in. I got the Crab cakes and my dad had the Fish and Chips. The food and service were wonderful as was the food. It isn't a huge place inside but it is is comfy and the staff were terrific. I wish I had got the name of my server who was female and probably one of the best staff members we've ever seen anywhere. She really was concerned that we like our food and checked on us frequently. The whole environment was quite pleasant and they a welcome addition to Monroe. I was also quite impressed by the menu..not the same old stuff..they seem innovative and the menu has a nice variety of different types of items. As someone who loves Crab Cakes, I was very happy to see that on the menu! One thing that I remember is we got a very tasty app, some type of Chicken appetiser, that was really good. I went back to their online menu and did not see it so not sure if it is still on the menu but whatever it was, we enjoyed it. This place is absolutely needed in Monroe because there are so many pizza places but not enough of other types of eateries. In Monroe, you cannot go two minutes down the street without seeing a pizza place so it is good to have a fresh new Non Pizza Establishment with good food and a really fine staff. read more

Visited Monroe Social on four occasions the last was not memorable ( two stars) to say the least. My three star rating is based on the average of all four visits. We started off with crab cake appetizer, the best part of our experience. Mostly crab not a lot of filler. Did like the presentation with the mini sweet peppers very cute. The entrees not so good :-(. The chicken cordon bleu look like a Frozen entree mediocre at best. I ordered the tuna rare served with wasabi and risotto rice and Julian zucchini. It was served medium well and the Wasabi looked like a mayonnaise-based dressing. The rice was overdone but the Julian zucchini turned out to be the best of the entree. (See attached photos) Good selection of local beers and Cocktails. Might be a good place to stop for a drink after work. Perhaps the owner manager is on vacation there is a lack of attention here. Dead or dying flowers on the table. The restaurant was too hot for a July day uncomfortable. Bartender staffer using foul language and very loud. Mediocre experience it falls in the middle of the scale between great and awful. I think that's why many people settle for mediocre food. If you aren't actively searching for food that is great, then food that is just not-awful works for you. read more

Trendy find in Monroe! The atmosphere is relaxed and casual but still has a hint of trendy that makes it great for sitting down and catching up with friends. I had fish and chips while my cousin had the chicken cordon bleu. Both were excellent. A bit pricey but still a very good meal. read more

I had the Flounder Almondine and it was delicious, crispy and lemony The hub had the salmon which was as equally good. A friend had the chicken cordon blu is tender and very flavorful. My wife and I were in Monroe and attempted to eat at a different restuarant but when we were told they couldn't seat us, we decided to give another place a try. Upon looking through yelp, this place looked good and had good reviews. PARKING- There is a decent amount of parking in front of the establishment. AMBIANCE- The restaurant was bar-like. Not a place I would go to if I wanted to have a quiet dinner. I did not knock the restaurant on this, as this is what I was expecting when I came here. SERVICE - The service we had was okay. We had two females checking on our table. The service matched the bar-like setting. MENU - The menu was small but had some decent options for a quick bite. FOOD/DRINKS - For drinks my wife ordered the PB&J martini. She said it was mostly liquor with a little bit of other stuff. The waitress had said after giving it to her, if the drink was too strong let us know. It was definitely strong but who doesn't like those type of drinks every now and again? Plus, she wasn't driving! For an appetizers we ordered the beef empanadas and the tacos (2 Chicken & 1 Shrimp). The empanadas were good although they could have been better with a chipotle aioli sauce. The tacos were very dry (especially the chicken). They needed some kind of seasoning or something to spice it up. For dinner my wife ordered the Salmon which came with broccoli and mashed potatoes. I tried her food and the Salmon was cooked very well done. The broccoli tasted like they were previously frozen from a bag and the mashed potatoes were not bad. To be honest, the mashed potatoes were the highlight of the dish. For myself, I ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger Med-Rare. After getting the burger, it was cooked well done. The burger tasted like a Bubba burger. It literally had no flavor, it was disappointing. It was so dry, I couldn't even finish it. PRICES - The prices were fair for the atmosphere and styled restaurant. OVERALL - I would not return to this restaurant. I truly do not understand how this restaurant is rated so highly. read more
