Some friends of ours recommended this place as a locals bar where most folks know each other. So we tried it today around 3 pm (Thanksgiving). First impressions weren't impressive. We weren't greeted for a bit, we were seated at the small bar. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The bar has a fireplace which was nice but needed some deep cleaning as the glass doors were in deep need of a good windexing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Most patrons seemed to know each other which shows loyalty, so huge plus. Anyone can miss cleaning the fireplace. The female bartender never introduced herself or welcomed us, even though I mentioned it was our first visit. A local told us her name is Paula, and she was just concentrated on keeping things going and tidy. Ok, we appreciate that. We ordered wings and pepper poppers. The wings had little flavor and sadly the poppers (had to ask for ranch dressing) came out of the fryer without the cheese being melted. The bar doesn't have any Tabasco to offer guests, only franks buffalo sauce. With this said, as we were here longer, Paula warmed up to us and was much friendlier. Our overall feeling is this is a place to get to know your local buds and enjoy a cool one. Not the best first impression but we will try it again and update our experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restroom was clean and the overall vibe was positive.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a place you wouldn't know is there as not really visible going down the road.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Check it out. I feel it's worth giving it a try. A local, John, made our experience positive and explained things. Without Boston John, I am not sure we would have had the positive experience we had.

Boneless pork rib sandwich at the Windsock. This is a masterpiece of a sandwich. Not a chopped extruded pork patty, rather it is a short rack of pork ribs that has had the bones removed. This boneless slab is served on the modern equivalent of a Kaiser roll, it has a layer of lovely sweet and spicy vinegar based Cole slaw, and a few crispy fried onion rings on the sandwich as well. Salty, sweet, crunchy, and decidedly very porky. This was a compete dish, no other accoutrements were required! I am hopefull that this offering will reappear on the special menu occasionally.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Wow, this little hole in the wall really blew me away![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]This really brings meaning to never judge a book by its cover, but I knew we were in good hands.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Once you got here midday, and you saw the bar packed with all timers and a few of their tables taken.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place sits on the outskirts of an airport, so you do see planes, takeoff, and lands which adds to the experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The white staff is friendly, accommodating, and super attentive. Their offerings very daily, but they always seem to have roast beef and a special soup of the day. The meals themselves are super affordable, extremely feeling, and amazing. The day we went, we tried the Boston roast beef sandwich, which was served on a fantastic row that was just the perfect amount of thickness to complement the meat. I tried the Porchetta sandwich which was delicious while being flavorful and moist and the perfect amount of spice with a cherry peppers, both the soup which was creamy broccoli, cheese, and the corn beef. Reuben eggrolls, knocked it out of the park! The dessert was probably the one disappointment, but I'm not taking down stars to their rating because the mail itself was really amazing. I look forward to coming back here and trying more of what they have to offer... Clearly the old timers know a good place and clearly I will definitely follow their lead.

The warm Brussels tower paired with a crispy risotto cake, sweet plumped dried cranberries, and the most incredible whipped parmesan dressing! Perfection! My son always raved over their Mac N' cheese and this is where he wanted us to take him for his 22nd birthday, he wanted their Mac N' cheese, so both my son and my other son's girlfriend ordered the mac & cheese. They took about four bites and my son decided it's different. It's not like it used to be doesn't taste right. Nonetheless, he was disappointed on his birthday. Beside that, our food was good. But the first noticeable thing was our server a waitress, she was pretty rude even though we were very nice to her. After we'd gotten home my other son looked it up and seen a few reviews on the service of this very same waitress/server. We dined there on 05/06/26 . And got there about 8:30-9:00pm

A Shore Thing: Diving into Delight at Lazy Lobster 6…read moreBroadway, Milford CT. Nestled along the shimmering shores of Walnut Beach in Milford, CT, the Lazy Lobster (now under new ownership) beckons with its inviting charm and coastal allure. Upon entering, you're immediately enveloped in a warm, nautical atmosphere adorned with marine-themed decor--think driftwood accents, maritime photographs, and vibrant hues reminiscent of the sea. The gentle sound of waves lapping against the shore creates a soothing soundtrack, while the salty sea breeze mingles with the aroma of fresh seafood, making every breath feel like a mini-vacation. The outdoor dining area, complete with charming tiki umbrellas, invites you to soak up the sun while enjoying your meal, offering a refreshing breeze from Long Island Sound. The restaurant features two bar options: the front bar, which overlooks the street and opens to the outside, allowing you to sip cocktails while enjoying the coastal vibe, and the back bar, a full-service bar that's cozy and enclosed within the restaurant, perfect for a more intimate setting. The menu reads like a treasure map for seafood lovers, boasting dishes as fresh as a sea breeze. The standout is the Lazy Lobster Roll, available in three sizes: the 4-ounce, the 6-ounce, and a generously portioned larger option. Each roll is piled high with succulent lobster and served on a buttery baguette (yes, you read that right--a baguette!). You can also opt for the hotdog bun version, inviting you to dive in with reckless abandon. Accompanying it are crispy fries and tangy coleslaw, creating a delightful contrast to the richness of the lobster. My companion tried the butter-poached lobster tacos, which come with tomato salsa, avocado, and lime-cilantro dressing, showcasing the ocean's bounty wrapped in corn shells--delicious, even if she prefers flour tortillas. To wash it all down, we sipped on cocktails: the Lucky One High Noon Lemonade and the house Margarita, each refreshing as a dip in cool ocean waves. As you savor your meal, tales of Milford's rich maritime history add intrigue to the experience. The area is known for Charles Island and Captain Kidd, with whispers of lost vessels and ghostly apparitions of sailors who never returned. This lore enhances the atmosphere, making each bite a connection to the sea's mysterious past. Quinn, our server, embodies the spirit of the restaurant--welcoming as the tides returning to shore. Her extensive knowledge of the menu is impressive, and her willingness to share stories about the Lazy Lobster's history makes the dining experience feel personal and engaging. Her attentiveness and friendly banter create a sense of community, reminding you that good food is best enjoyed with good company. The Lazy Lobster is more than just a restaurant; it's a "catch of the day" in every sense. With delectable dishes, a vibrant atmosphere, and service that feels like a warm embrace, this beachside gem promises a "whale of a time" that lingers long after the last bite. If you're seeking a taste of the coast with a sprinkle of local charm, this is the place to drop anchor.

The Lazy Lobster was a favorite for years. I heard about…read morethe new owners, and the renovations & I was looking forward to trying it out this year. Visited on Sunday July 12th, 5:30 pm. Was able to get a same-day reservation on OpenTable, which in retrospect is probably a bad sign.. Arrived at 5:25, hostess (not super welcoming) sat us right away. And we sat. And sat. And sat some more.. Servers were passing by and no one acknowledged us at all except for the bus boy who gave us water when we first sat down. We were sitting outside on the patio on the side of the building; we were next to other tables that also have people sitting there. Bus boys and servers must've passed us 20 times and just ignored us. After 20 minutes! I was finally able to get the attention of a server and let her know that no one had even taken our drink order yet. She assured me that our server was coming. Another 10 minutes went by, the same server realize that we were STILL waiting, and seemingly went inside to tell our server to wait on us. She finally arrived (we had been waiting 35 to 40 minutes at this point), no apology. Ordered our beverages and also told her we are ready to order food. Ordered a shrimp cocktail, the cheese garlic bread, a ribby roll and hot buttered lobster roll. And then we waited. Lol Drinks and Shrimp cocktail came right away. Shrimp was fresh, cocktail sauce good. Garlic bread never arrived. Entrees took a long time. We heard another server telling the table behind us that the kitchen was out of french fries. They never told us that but when the ribby & lobster rolls arrived, there was just a very small amount of fries on the plates. The lobster roll comes in three sizes now all varying degrees of expensive.. They do still have the same fresh baked rolls which is really what makes this lobster roll so good. The lobster was fresh, Unfortunately, I did not see any tail meat at all. It was all claw meat. I did look inside at the renovation, it's very nice, looks a little bit fancy for this type of beachside establishment. I mean, it looks great, but it was fine the way it was. Now it feels like they had to raise prices on the food to help pay for the remodel. The food that I had was still really good. I still do love their lobster rolls - those rolls really makes it for me. However they need to make sure every roll has tail meat too. The service is the real issue here. The hostess and servers and bus boys all look to be pretty young. They were pleasant enough, but seem to have no direction or motivation. I think with the right person managing them they'd be fine, but apparently they do not have a competent person in charge of these servers. There is absolutely no excuse for Customer sitting there for 25 minutes before they're even acknowledged. No apology, didn't get everything we ordered, yeah, just not a good experience.. with this type of service, they are not gonna stay in business long. At this point, I think they had been open about a month? Maybe they still need time to fully drain staff and get it together? I really hope so. It wasn't even super busy. I am willing to pay more for good food and service. But this was really pretty unacceptable .
