I ventured out here with some friends on a Monday and, while the food was decent, I wouldn't drive out of my way to return. The menu had a large selection of burgers, seafood options (think fish and chips, fried cod, fish platter, lobster sandwich, etc) and even BBQ (ribs, pulled pork, and brisket). I ordered a special: the pork carnitas, which came with yellow rice, black beans, and tortillas. The carnitas were l, unfortunately, dry. It was a lot of food, so I brought half of it home. My friends order fish and chips and the pulled pork sandwich. Everyone thought their meal was okay. Cocktails are on the stronger side, which my friends appreciated. There's is plenty of seating and parking, and there's also patio seating. It seems like the kind of place that has a good vibe on weekends when all the boaters are out, but it was quiet on a Monday night. He was sitting at the bar drinking soda and we seemed to bother him by coming in. Our waitress seemed bothered when we needed more time with menu. It was so unwelcoming. One burger was cooked until rock dry. I tried the seafood quesadilla and it was bland and unseasoned. A margarita in an old fake plastic glass just is off putting. So so service. Hit or miss on food. A friend had eaten here and said the food was great. They bragged about the fish and chips, ribs, mac n cheese, etc. I had already eaten but stopped in for beer. The place is huge. I recently went with a few friends to Joey C's Boathouse on a Saturday night and had an amazing time! We called ahead but were told we cannot make reservations day of or for a party under 6. Despite that, we were immediately seated upon arrival on the patio outside. The views were beautiful - it overlooks the nearby dock. Their decor is nice as well adding in tropical trees around the premises to make it look like a beachside dining experience. There is even live music at 9PM on the weekends. The service was also great. Our waitress was incredibly attentive and checked on us throughout our dining experience, always with a smile on her face. The food was incredible. Our table shared the Boathouse Nachos and added the bbq chicken which was so delicious. It was the perfect start to the meal. I highly recommend getting the Watermelon Micalizzi Margarita - so tasty but also so fun for pictures (has a small bottle of tequila flipped upside down in it as well as a scoop of Italian ice)! For my entree, I got the SOS burger which contains lobster, and tomato and herb aioli. The burger was so flavorful and juicy and the sauce was creamy and delicious. The fries were very well seasoned. I know it was Cinco de Mayo but the music was wayyyyyyy too loud for the size of the place. The bartenders couldn't hear patrons and we couldn't hear each other. The waitress couldn't hear and had to come in close. I must say the DJ was really good and played a bit of everything. How has this place been open for 10 years? Met some family for dinner tonight. Food was very disappointing. Everyone's protein (either chicken or fish) was totally overcooked. Waitress was inattentive and seemed like she didn't want to be there. Aside from the awful food we watched rats scurry back and forth across the deck. Sadly everything. The service, communication to customers. Attitude of front end staff. Train staff better. Came at 7:20pm tonight put name on list. Was told 15 - 20 minutes for my family of 6 to eat. Not a problem. Paid $20 for 2 adults for cover charge. 7:58 still not seated. Spoke to staff they said 45 mins. No communication to customers your having system issues. After speaking with 4 people we get seated. 8:05. 10 mins go by no napkins , no server to greet us with menus. Nothing. I get up and have to chase the owner to get any help. They bring water. And menus. Take our drink order. 8:35 still no drinks. We pick up and leave! Argued to get our money back for a cover charge. And the gentleman didn't want to give us our money back.. mind you hour and a half 6 people starving and thirsty.. no drinks or anything. Super super disappointed. Sadly me, my fiancé and our 4 children will never be back. I was excited to enjoy the evening outside for dinner after a long crazy week and just be with my family.. but instead I and my family were upset to have to leave and never had a drink or food. There was no wait when we got there. 2nd on the list waiting. I shouldn't have had to chase a manager or owner down. What should of happened for the mishap and good customer service- when we got seated water should have been brought right over with menus and an app put in the kitchen for the mishap. Sometimes I really enjoy it here. When the food and service are good it can be a great spot. Other times I wonder if I would return. It can be inconsistent. We went on St. Patricks and again 3/31/2024 for lunch. Both visits we ate indoors at table 42 (booth). On the first visit we had their basic burger with cheddar cheese,fresh jalapeno, and crispy bacon with fries and a side of macaroni and cheese. Omg, so delicious. The Mac n cheese is over the top amazing. On 3/31 we had steak tacos, rice and beans, and a giant pretzel. The pretzel is so tasty. The steak chimmichuuri (sp?) tacos mouth watering and lean with lots of flavor. One area of concern is we really enjoy a spicy salsa which we hope Joey will offer soon. I have pictures of it all but for some reason, it isn't loading so sorry guys. In warm months they offer outside seating, have live music with great bands. Loved the atmosphere of this place. Came here for 80s and 90s night. DJ had the music pumping which was great for all ages. We came early to eat dinner which they had a variety of food to choose from. Drinks were mixed perfectly, reasonably priced compared to most places. Food was excellent and the menus had hilarious names for drinks and food kids would get a kick out of. Plenty of portions to fill the emptiest of stomachs. They had a menu for kids as well. Seafood is never cheap so the prices for seafood is kinda high but not out of the ordinary. There is plenty of room to eat outside which I did and they had lots of mix drink options both frozen and non frozen. This helped give you some courage liquid to get on the dance floor out on the patio. The place wasn't crowded which was good but was told it does get busy. Inside there is lots of room to have private parties and also to hang out and eat in at the indoor bar. Lots of TVs to watch games and events. I would recommend this place for large parties and a great Date night option. The only complaint I have is the parking is limited and is difficult to get out if your not parking at the near by Bjs wholesale store parking lot. read more

Went there for a gathering after a family celebration of life. What a nice luncheon was served. We had a quiet private room and looking out at the local docks on the Housatonic River. The staff were very attentive, friendly and accommodating. Not your typical "group gathering buffet". There was a beautifully arranged fresh greens and vegetable salad. The proteins, chicken and beef, were perfectly prepared. The potatoes and assorted vegetable were perfectly seasoned and cooked. Everything was fresh and crisp. We were not rushed and everyone was able to sit, relax, and reminisce our loved one. I would highly recommend Joey C's for a group gathering or regular dining out. The food was excellent. I am so glad i went still despite reading the bad reviews. I went on a Wednesday evening at about 6 a clock and it wasn't packed at all. My food was great! Huge portions and so delicious. The service was fast and friendly. I will definitely be going back. I highly recommend the seafood nachos! They are loaded with shrimp, scallops, and lobster. I am only giving 2 stars because our waitress and the guy at the front were so nice. My husband and I have been experiencing gastrointestinal distress since eating here last night. I had the seafood nachos and he had the fried seafood platter. We both also had the watermelon cosmo and it was so strong we couldn't even enjoy them. We waited almost 10 min to be seated where people who worked there kept walking past us and being unable to assist us with seating. The restaurant had about 3 tables full so bandwith was clearly not the issue. A man came to the host stand and notified us the Hostess was still seating someone (must have taken forever since that seating would have taken 10 full minutes.) We were finally seated and given menus and then we waited, and we waited and we waited. No one came out. No drinks were placed and so we left. My first time walking out of a restaurant. The goal of this place is to clearly not serve people food. Upon leaving we looked up where to go and we found Outriggers- WHAT A DIFFERENCE. SKIP THIS SPOT AND START THERE. I have been to Joey C's a few times on several Different occasions. This past weekend however will most likely be my last time. A few of us went out to celebrate my daughter's birthday, not a large group, just 4 of us. Expecting the restaurant to be busy we arrived at 5:30 knowing we would have to wait. When we got there, to our surprise, we were seated within about 5 minutes. Great, however that was the best part of our evening. After we were seated approximately 40 minutes passed before we were even given menus or brought water... when our waitress finally came over to our table(she had apparently just been told that she had a table) she proceeded to take our entire order(drinks, appetizers and dinner because at this point we had waited so long). Drinks took another 15 minutes to come Out, appetizer another 15 and dinner was just 5 minutes later. Cold. Rather than send our food back(because let's face it we all know what happens when you do that) we picked at what was on our plate and requested the check. I am not one to ever complain at restaurants for bad service, I know that things can be crazy and staff shortages happen, however as we were leaving the restaurant I had to say something. I spoke with the hostesses and an assistant manager at the hostess station while leaving and then an incredibly rude gentleman approached us(I'm not sure if he was another manager, part owner or what his role was). He proceeded to more or less yell at me that they were trying their best but seemed to turn the situation around as if the lack of professionalism and food quality was our fault. No apology was given, I wasn't looking for anything to be comped I was simply relaying what a bad experience we had so that it didn't happen to anyone else in the future(mind you at this point the table next to us had already complained and just walked out with their food on the table). While this man continued to be increasingly rude, I said thank you to the hostesses for hearing me out and walked away. As I did, he said behind me good riddance. I have never been so disrespected at a restaurant. Unless there are some drastic changes made here, I will not be going back nor would I even consider recommending Joey C's to anyone in the future. * one star was given only because Yelp requires it otherwise I would have given 0. read more

I went there on Sunday, July 9th around 4:15 PM, right before significant rain. We sat outside, but underneath a roof overhang, luckily. I had a great experience! The waiter (middle aged guy, buzz cut hair) was extremely attentive yet without being a pest. There was live music, but the volume did not prevent conversation. Our food came out quickly and was delicious. The bill wasn't insane. The atmosphere was pleasant and felt friendly, people of all types and ages. I'm a shy quiet older guy (61) and I tend to hate what Stratford has become (an extension of Westchester) yet I did not see those excesses there. When Joey C's opened up a few years ago, I repeatedly heard it did not go well, so I wrote this because of my experience, which as a pleasant surprise. It was my birthday and it was a beautiful hot day and I wanted to go somewhere near the water and where I've never been. Found Joey C's online and the menu and ambiance looked good . Got a nice table by the river for me my husband and my son. Ben was our waiter, came up right away with water took our drink order. I love seafood and there were so many options. WE started with the raw oysters and clams- they were so fresh and salty and briny. Good start. I couldn't resist the seafood nachos. Well!!!! let me tell you they were awesome. Real chunks of whole shrimp, small claw lobster, bay scallops and crab meat. It was distributed throughout all the nachos, not just on top. After we all picked on it I had to take the rest home there was just so much! No lie I got another 4 meals out of the leftovers!Also got lobster Mac and cheese to bring home. It was so heavy I weighed it on my kitchen scale- 1 and a half pounds of gooey mac and cheese and loaded with whole lobster pieces- amazing! One of my sorority sisters was in town for a brief visit and we decided to grab a quick bite to eat. Joey C's was recommended by one of her friends and it was an excellent choice. We arrived closer to closing time, so there weren't many people there. However, keeping everyone's safety and wellness at the forefront, it would have been nice if there was an empty Booth between us and the neighboring group of patrons. Service and our waitress Heather were great. Both of us had salads; I had the Cantina salad with salmon and she had the Wicked Wench salad with chicken. Portions are big and satisfying.
