Tucked in downtown Bridgeport with easy street…read moreand garage parking nearby, 29 Markle Court walks in with serious style -- the decor is chic, the atmosphere is warm and cool at the same time, and it genuinely feels like somewhere you'd expect to find in a much bigger city. Drinks first: my slightly dirty martini was made exactly right. My friend went with cosmo and it was equally on point. Whoever is behind that bar has their act together. Then the food happened. We started with grilled bread with an EVOO, agave, and chile dip -- sounds simple, ate like a statement. The char on the bread, the heat and sweetness of that dip. Good sign of things to come. Main event: shrimp and grits. Guinea flint grits, spicy red sauce, sage, stock. I don't say this lightly -- this is one of the best things I've eaten in a long time. The grits were creamy and rich, the sauce had real depth and heat, and the shrimp were perfectly cooked. The whole bowl just worked on every level. Dessert: goat cheesecake with pistachio dust and berry compote. Tangy, creamy, not too sweet, and that pistachio dust on top was a perfect finish. We cleared the plate.

They put a heavy focus on seasonal, locally sourced ingredients and smoked cooking techniques, and it really shows in every dish. We stopped in around 3:30 on a Sunday and grabbed seats at the bar for quicker service, which ended up being the perfect move. Our bartender, Gabe, was fantastic...attentive, friendly, and genuinely added to the overall experience. The presentation across the board was stunning, but the flavors backed it up just as much. The smoked half bird was easily one of the highlights: perfectly tender and juicy, with a deep smoky flavor balanced by subtle sweetness from the agave and brightness from the lemon zest. The lamb chops were another standout...beautifully cooked, clean, juicy, and layered with bold flavor from the spicy harissa, cooling yogurt, ginger, and fresh mint. The charred broccolini surprised me in the best way. Serving it over whipped ricotta with Calabrian chilies, garlic, and lemon zest created this creamy, smoky, slightly spicy balance that worked incredibly well together. Even the carrots had great flavor, with the citrus glaze, spiced crème fraîche, toasted pistachios, sesame, and mint adding a lot of texture and contrast. My only minor critique was that the texture of the carrots felt a little inconsistent throughout the dish, almost as if they may have been slightly rushed that day. Overall, though, everything felt thoughtful and well executed. Between the smoky flavors, elevated comfort-food feel, gorgeous plating, and great energy, this is definitely a spot I'd come back to.

The warm Brussels tower paired with a crispy risotto cake, sweet plumped dried cranberries, and the most incredible whipped parmesan dressing! Perfection! I have yet to find anything local that comes close, and I genuinely miss it. If anyone ever recreates something like this, I will be first in line.

My son always raved over their Mac N' cheese and this is where he wanted us to take him for his 22nd birthday, he wanted their Mac N' cheese, so both my son and my other son's girlfriend ordered the mac & cheese. They took about four bites and my son decided it's different. It's not like it used to be doesn't taste right. Nonetheless, he was disappointed on his birthday. Beside that, our food was good. But the first noticeable thing was our server a waitress, she was pretty rude even though we were very nice to her. After we'd gotten home my other son looked it up and seen a few reviews on the service of this very same waitress/server. We dined there on 05/06/26 . And got there about 8:30-9:00pm

Dockside Brewery - The waitress referred me to try this aha tuna poke bowl. My only issue was that some of the tuna was not cut properly.

Cate was incredibly accommodating from the start--making sure we were comfortable, checking in often, and keeping everything organized without ever making us feel rushed. She was so attentive to our needs, and somehow still managed to take great care of the rest of the floor during a super busy trivia night. Honestly, we were impressed by how on top of everything she was! Our whole group left happy, well taken care of, and already talking about coming back. Huge shoutout to Cate for making the night so enjoyable!

There's a lot of restaurants/bars on Bridgeport Avenue and Dockside can never unnoticed? I stopped in today because it's been a while, but also because this is the location of my annual NFL Draft Party Event on Thursday April 23rd for the first round drama of the NFL. Had a pleasant visit seated at the bar on this beautiful Tuesday ? I started off with a Black Lager Beer called Milford Nite and was intrigued by the Big Mac Egg Rolls and Montreal Dry Rub Wings.

We got two shareables and two handhelds - nachos, not-zarella, stratcity cheesesteak, sidewinder fries and sausage and peppers. The shareables were ok. The not-zarella and sidewinder fries had interesting sauces that were not to my taste. I had the cheesesteak but there was a lot of liquid in the sandwich which caused it to fall apart from what seemed to be from the premade and overcooked onions and peppers. I couldn't finish the sandwich because of the liquid and overcooked onions and peppers. While the food wasn't the greatest, the drinks and the service was good and timely. We have come here previously for takeout and the service was great so we planned and came back this time. Another benefit is that they have a nice outdoor space.

The pretzel bites were also salty and bready nuggets of deliciousness. Service was great and friendly! The restaurant wasn't busy so we sat at the bar to watch football. We ordered wings and the special tacos of the day which were eye of the round tomatillo tacos with pico. We get the buffalo sauce and cajun dry rub on our wings which were 5 stars. The tacos not so much. For $15 the three tacos were tiny, 3 pieces of eye of the round on two tacos, 4 on third. The pico was tomatoes with a tiny piece of jalapeno and onion in water, weird. The tomatillo sauce was ok, but not the best. We LOVE this place but these tacos missed the mark. Service was good. At the end, Lauren took over. She was friendly and introduced herself to us and others at the bar. She mostly cashed us out, but we liked her friendliness. Go with confidence, it's a great local bar/restaurant with good, friendly service.
