    Chilean Sea Bass

On an unexpected visit Sunday afternoon with my fiancé, we started with the stuffed mushrooms, which were fantastic. For our entrées, I ordered the Chilean sea bass special, and it was phenomenal. My fiancé had the Tuscan chicken and was very pleased. Overall, it's a great experience every time we come here.

Went for a lunch with a friend. New to both of us. Enjoyed the calamari to start and then we both ordered the Kobe burger. Was over cooked but still juicy. Truffle fries were fantastic. Bar was set in the back left. Looked cozy in there but we sat in the front as the back had a baby shower going on. Will check out this place again.

On a very hot day in CT we ended up sitting outside. This was not a good choice. The food was good, but the service was not the best.

It was warm and cozy and the restaurant was filled with chatty people. We called ahead of our drive and were able to get a table for 4 at 5:15pm. Delicious food and kind and attentive service. Dessert is a must.

Suprised how great this place is! Saw it next to the grocery store and thought it was another fancy pub food place--but food was amazing. We had the tuna tartare which was a huge portion with amazing wonton crisps, empanada special, a flat bread, Newtown chicken, and kids tenders. Even the tenders were fresh and perfectly crispy. We'll be back and so glad we tried this place.

$45 fish...ridiculous and not that good.

Really fancy atmosphere and great service. 2 stars are solely for the food. Overpriced, very small portions even for an appetizer "to share", and they have my friend Kraft Mac and cheese honestly. I will not be back, eve !

Pleasant greeting on the phone by Dafina. Mike the owner offered us a table of our choice. Florina his wife also pleasant. Amazing meal! Fireplace and lighting was romantic.

    Cremini mushroom soup

2025 May 24: 1) cremini mushroom soup 2) ahi tuna medium rare 3) Kansas strip medium. They are all from the specials menu. The soup is excellent. As for the main courses, the tuna is the better of the two, because it is cooked just right and the sauce is very tasty.

The best bar in town! Ladies night every Wednesday means buy one get one drinks. The bartenders are extremely friendly and quick with service. The dining room has huge windows while the bar area is cozy and decently spacious.

Everything was delicious! The Fig Flatbread has pistachio goat cheese w drizzle truffle honey was really good! And so was the Chicken Milanese w burrata, arugula cherry tomatoes w drizzle balsamic!!! The kids chicken tenders and french fries was perfectly crisped. We ate EVERY BITE! Oh and the Ghost Guava Margaritas was perfect!

Looking for new to us restaurants, my wife and I found the Barnwood grille. We absolutely loved it. Great service, paced beautifully, a nice decor and convenient location but the star is the food. I enjoyed the pork belly app which had a great BBQ sauce that complimented the pork and did not overpower it. We had two special entrees, the Seafood Pappardelle and the Pork Cutlet Milanese. We were impressed with the perfect flavors and balance. We will be back for sure. A shout out for our waiter Cruz, he and his staff serving us were attentive to all our needs.

The special app tonight was a "stretched" pork dumpling which might be one of the best apps I've ever had. Normally I'm a sucker for the bao buns at Foundry but these are even better. Hope they stay on the menu. Spicy tuna poke was great as usual. My NY strip hit the spot and the pork shoulder sandwich was greatly enjoyed by my accomplice. Good attention, chef came out for a visit too. Looking forward to returning to try the other new items!

My friend and I both had burgers, which were delicious -- but what were REALLY awesome were the french fries. Slim, perfectly cooked and salted -- hoo mama. Other reviewers have mentioned that the menu has more of an Asian influence -- this continues to be true, and in fact, when we return I'd like to try some of those more specifically Asian or Asian-inspired dishes. One thing I perceived, though, was that the pickles on the burger were brined in something that tasted almost seafood-y -- I'm allergic so I don't think it was actual fish sauce or something, but something that gave it a slight fishy taste, like when you have seaweed. Anyway, that was the only thing I didn't care for -- but it didn't bother me enough to not want to try again! We loved the ambience and the location was also super convenient with free parking in the back. I'll update my review after my next visit!

The staff is very attentive and kind. The menu is varied to the point of having difficulty choosing. We chose Hungarian stuffed cabbage and trio salad. HUGE portions are their signature. My meal came with a cup of soup & I chose matzo ball. Also, I chose baked potato and chickpea salad and a side tossed salad. I do not eat processed sugar and they had oil and vinegar to dress the tossed salad. We had 2 large pieces of challah bread with it and hubby had half of a lemon danish for his dessert, saving the rest for tonight. The bakery section is very impressive and I would have had a very hard time back in my sugar addicted days. This place is already on my calendar for next year's return. I had a neat conversation with our waitress about Amorgos and Santorini Greece. This family does a great job of serving the community!

The London broil wrap was cooked well, but I eventually had to eat it with a fork and knife because it was so oily. My wife and I were at a distillery in Roxbury. We live in Danbury. I was looking for a quality food…read morespot in between and newtown came to mind. So, knowing that Sugo existed, I immediately routed us to their location, as this is a place that's been on my list of places to try. Short view? Everything started great. But did not follow through. The service was awesome. Our waitress, and forgive me as I cannot remember her name, was amazing. When we arrived we observed her interactions with her child and it automatically endeared her to us. And, as a server she was absolutely top notch. We understand from conversations, that she often works the bar. Either way she is awesome and the bright spot of our experience. The ambiance of the place was beautiful. Super refined looking, albeit with uncomfortable chairs at the tables. But I'm not looking for "comfort" per se, I'm looking for beauty. And this spot hits the mark. The we began ordering. Off the cocktail menu, I ordered their version of a pina colada and it was tasty af but definitely weak. My wife ordered a dirty martini with bleu cheese olives that she felt was weak. After those, we each ordered French martinis, that were super lacking in all flavor save for vodka. So strong, a bonus, but not good. As an app, we ordered their calamari which I order everywhere we go. This one lived up to the standard. Nice, big, meaty pieces of squid. A good breading, and a decent (if not underwhelming) sauce. I ordered their version carbonara as a main, and it was likewise, underwhelming. It was over buttered and over creamed. Which, if one knows anything about a traditional carbonara, it involves neither butter nor cream. I get that this is a gastropub and as such they will take liberty with ingredients and traditions; however, if I can make a better one at home... what's the point? My wife ordered the seafood grill which included branzino and shrimp. The branzino was delicious (but slightly over), but the shrimp stopped everything. The shrimp was rotten. On the plate it smelled like an unclean barn. I will say, we had to bring this issue to the attention of our server, and she kindly and appropriately comped our latter two drinks as a result. This made us happy as the drinks comped over the price of the plate, however, the smell is one that stays with us. Even at the time of this writing. We finished up our meal. I took home most of my carbonara as I felt confident I could make it taste good at home, but that's not the point of dining out. If and when I spend this type of money on food, I expect it to be right. This experience was not right. And if it weren't for the server, this review would be a 2 star.
