    Cherry Pepper Gorgonzola
    Eric W.

(Last visited August 6, 2023.) In the Wingaddicts Facebook group I kept seeing posts about some place called Station 25 that had HUGE, delectable, powerfully flavored wings so... we made the hour drive to Newtown, CT to see what this place is all about! Atmosphere/Appearance: Set out the way and right off Route 25 is this gem which is dedicated to the firefighters all over the country. Mark (the owner) is a volunteer firefighter himself so thank you for your service my good man. But the restaurant is large with a large outdoor seating area filled with umbrellas to block the sun or the rain if you're outside! Once inside you feel welcomed due to it's open concept, bright lights and upbeat music. The staff greet you as soon as you enter so that's always a plus. All over the restaurant you'll see New York Giants memorabilia as well as stuff dedicated to firefighters including a memorial table toward the back. I loved this. Service: Like I mentioned before the staff are super friendly and on multiple visits the owners Laurene and Mark chatted us up just making sure we were well taken care of! Food: We've been here multiple times so I've been able to try out a few things! The first of 6 wing flavors were the Lemon Pepper Buffalo which were fried to perfection with a nice crisp skin from the light dredge on them. It was a 50/50 marriage on the flavor between a lemon and Buffalo sauce. It was so well executed! Next up was the Honey Hot Tamale which blended Mexican spices with a sweet-nectar like sweetness. It also came served with pickled hot peppers, but the wings had a good spicy kick to them! Again, still crispy and a huge size. Next up was their Garlic Parmesan which was a mixture of wet and dry ingredients. Crispy skin and FULL of flavor. With many of these kinds of wings at other places, the flavor comes off so light, but these hit the nail on the head! Next up was the Asian Zing. Gorgeous, shiny wing with crispy skin, but this one had a sweet Thai chili flavor with some Szechuan pepper flavor, but it had more sweet than spicy. 2nd to last is their off-menu flavor called Cherry Pepper Gorgonzola! It's a MESSY wing, but OMG. This comes SLATHERED in a acidic, creamy, natural cheese flavor then covered with cherry peppers and spices. It tasted like a good pasta dish, but with wings! Lastly, we tried the hottest wing on the menu... the 911. Lol. These came out lookin' gritty, nasty and like they're supposed to when they're supposed to be stupid hot. Lol. These were still delicious and presented no immediate heat, but then boom. The heat ramped up and kicked in HARD. These were nothing I couldn't handle though, but super hot and topped out at about an 8.3 on the Weavi Heat Scale. Value: Come in on Wednesdays for $1.00 wings! You can't beat it! Other than that, the prices are extremely reasonable for excellent quality food. In conclusion, I love this place and I wish it were closer so that I could frequent it more often, but that's nobody's fault but my own! Lol. They may be seeing me pretty soon...

My latest outing here, as I went to check in, I noticed I hadn't updated my review as we had many outings here and especially recently, but my phone died! First off, happy to see this place up and running back again. Hands down best wings in Newtown-I know there's a lot of song and dance about a competitor and his truck that goes to local events and how great his wings are but tried them and he doesn't even hold a candle anywhere close to Mark's Station 25 wings-this place has plump, juicy, tender and tasty wings that can satisfy any level of heat you can handle while offering non-watered down sauces and a great happy attitude. The nachos are great-fabulous portion for 3-4 to share and meticulously layered not leaving a chip undressed or alone. The french fries here are hand cut and are scoffed up. Station 25 burgers are good-nice charbroiled flavor and always cooked to your liking with fresh crisp lettuce and tomato. Their philly cheese steak has become a staple with us and is a serious portion that can be shared offering flavorful steak that is tender and nicely surrounded by grilled peppers, onions and cheese on a soft hoagie roll that doesnt overpower the guts. We did have the ribs special again as we forgot we had ordered it in the past and they weren't bad - very generous in portion but not your typical fall off the bone ribs-sauce was a little too thick for our liking...not the worst, but not the best but the mashed potatoes were pretty good and the cole slaw was a hit with my husband (mayonnaise based) Station 25 has done a lot in training their staff and trying to offer enticing specials to draw some clientele and in my book, they are really taking it up a few notches from where they were. Yes, newtown is riddled with many pubs offering typical pub fare but none has been able to capture our attention but the comeback kid and his firefighter ways seems to be reeling us in and making us weekly visitors! From taco tuesdays, prime rib Saturdays to Sunday Funday 20 wings for $25, we have become addicts!

Breakfast Burger with ranch, bacon and cheese fries

Our server was very kind. She let us seat where we wanted to and took a drink order right away. Told us the evenings specials (this was an early dinner on Sat). I opted for the breakfast burger - burger was a nice size, oh the bacon, and the egg with just enough gooey. Along with my burger I ordered ranch, bacon, and cheese fries. These fries had plenty of ranch, bacon, and the cheese had a kick. It really rufflles my feathers (if I had feathers) when I order a potato or fries and the toppings are gone after two or three bites. This was Not the case at Station 25 in Newtown. My husband ordered the special which was a full rack of ribs, with roasted potatoes, and cole slaw.He was so happy about the price and that he actually got a full rack of ribs. Cole slaw is usually one side my husband never touches. The cole slaw looked good to him so he gave it a try and liked it!! Normally when I ask him to try cole slaw I hear I'll pass. Finally, we paid our check. My husband went out to smoke and I headed for the ladies room. I totally forgot about our rib leftovers and left them on the table. Our waitress was awesome and peaked outside and saw my husband smoking and brought them out to him. Thank Goodness!! We would have been so mad at Me for leaving them on the table!

Excellent service and fun ambiance with great food! Outdoor sitting and pet friendly with an open kitchen, you can see them prepare your food. Firehouse cheesesteak was outstanding and a perfectly cooked steak with really good mixed veggies and mashed potatoes. Good pour on drinks and the stuffed churros are to die for! I'll be back... and I might be a bit bias because I know the owners and they're great people.

Station 25 has the best food! Their specials are on point! Today's specials $12 for 2 chili dogs or flatbreads. The staff is amazing and fantastic bartenders! This will be your new favorite place in town!

Fun place serving excellent food, great portions and good drinks. Went with a coworker who had the baseball ball steak that looked awesome. I had the chicken scarp, which was one of the best I have ever had. Worth the trip.

Wanted to check this place out after seeing their wing night. Every Wednesday they do .75 cent wings dine in only. If you need to take them home you have to pay full price. So be aware of that, we weren't informed about that until after ordering a plate of nachos lol! However, the nachos were delicious and had lots of toppings. The fries were a little hard but hand cut and well seasoned! I got the garlic parm wings, I prefer a little more Parmesan on the wings. I'd try another flavor next time but the rest of the menu looked good too!

    Falling off the bone RIBS!

Not a bad meal to be had here. The ribs are ridiculous - the meat falls off the bone, the street corn is soooo full of flavor - the best around. The strip steak with grilled shrimp and lobster bisque cream sauce is to die for. No wing pics today but from a Buffalo-born gal I can tell you their wings are slammin. Something for everyone here!

This place is fine. New, clean, nice decor, has heart, solid, but felt like a kindergarten dance - one step forward, one step back. Great menu, but some items were unavailable. Ribs were so tender, they fell off the bone, but the flavor was one note, perhaps from a store-made sauce. Philly cheese steak was really good and onion rings were awesome, the bread was so fresh it dominated the sandwich. I would go back to try the eggplant and the wings. If they were good, I would go back for a third try.

Happy to see a new restaurant in this plaza so I decided to order take out for my family. We ordered two kid meals that were cheeseburgers and hand cut fries. The fries were super soggy and the kids burger while decent size was in an adult bun that was way larger than the burger. I also ordered nachos to share with the family the nachos were soggy and cold and I had asked for guacamole on side which was on top making everything even more soggy. My husband had the breakfast burger which was fine but lacked flavor to the meat. His onion rings were soggy too. I had ordered chili but there was a mistake and they didn't have it on my ticket so they made it special for me which was a very nice gesture however, the chili had amazing heat too it as I love spicy but i unfortunately couldn't get past the texture or the oil pooling on top of the bowl. Decorations are cute. There is ample parking and they do take credit card Pricing is about same as the restaurant they replaced five guys burgers and fries While I wish these guys best of luck as it isn't easy to run a restaurant in these times we won't be back

Alert This place is outstanding! They just opened up recently so don't have liquor license yet so it's BYOB. Mark is the owner here coming from a fire dept background building this place around it. They own the Firehouse Grill food trucks to cater parties as well. They mostly do Chicago style subs. These wings at Station 25 in Newtown, CT are no joke! They are not only massive, but they taste absolutely Steller! One wing was the size of a beer can. Very crispy and cooked well done! There wasn't too much sauce but just enough with a blast of flavor!! WINGS UP! Get down here asap! Buffalo Garlic Gorgonzola Cherry Pepper

My friend and I both had burgers, which were delicious -- but what were REALLY awesome were the french fries. Slim, perfectly cooked and salted -- hoo mama. Other reviewers have mentioned that the menu has more of an Asian influence -- this continues to be true, and in fact, when we return I'd like to try some of those more specifically Asian or Asian-inspired dishes. One thing I perceived, though, was that the pickles on the burger were brined in something that tasted almost seafood-y -- I'm allergic so I don't think it was actual fish sauce or something, but something that gave it a slight fishy taste, like when you have seaweed. Anyway, that was the only thing I didn't care for -- but it didn't bother me enough to not want to try again! We loved the ambience and the location was also super convenient with free parking in the back. I'll update my review after my next visit!

3.5 stars We were on…read moreour way home from a road trip and were looking for a great lunch spot on our route, when we came across Foundry Kitchen and Tavern, which was located in the quaint town of Sandy Hook. As we drove through the village, we saw the restaurant on our left-hand side. It was housed in a historical brick building with a sprawling deck overlooking the Pootatuk River. It was a beautifully sunny day, so I immediately suggested that we dine outside. Unfortunately for us, the part of the balcony that was covered and offering live acoustic music was completely full. That meant that we were seated on the far edge of the patio with no shield from the strong sun or any ability to hear the tunes. In addition to the unideal seating, the food took a very long time to arrive, so I just sat there roasting. The server offered to move us inside, but we stuck it out for the view. I had ordered the Fattoush Salad with Chicken. The Mediterranean bowl included mixed greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, feta, kalamata olives, and fried naan croutons, though I had omitted the red onion that was also supposed to be in the blend. I had asked for the red wine vinaigrette on the side and wound up not using much of it. The salad was fresh and tasty, but the chicken had an odd preparation. It was not grilled (like I would have hoped for a healthy salad topper) and not deep-fried, but was roasted or pan-fried or something, which I had not expected. It had a crispy skin, but remained reasonably tender at least. I also grabbed a few of my partner's fries, which were excellent. After we wrapped up the meal, I stopped inside to cool off and use the facilities, which consisted of a singular, unisex bathroom in the corner of the rustic dining room. There was a bit of a line, and they could certainly have benefitted from additional restrooms. I really did like the antique atmosphere at Foundry Kitchen and Tavern, but I think that the heat just made the experience a bit challenging for me. I would definitely consider returning, but would be more diligent in my seating and food selections.
