My family and I attended Disney on Ice Sunday and planned to have brunch afterward. Initially, we searched for restaurants in Bridgeport, but nothing seemed appealing--no offense to Bridgeport. Our search then led us to a place called Little Goose in Fairfield. I must say, the experience was amazing. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was wonderful. Located on Commerce Drive next door to the Audi dealership, Little Goose is an adorable little cottage-like restaurant with indoor as well as patio seating. The service was pleasant. We shared a plate of nachos to start and it was a meal in and of itself for the four of us. One friend enjoyed the pistachio martini and said somehow it really did taste like pistachio. I had the swordfish as my entree, which was cooked perfectly and topped with a mango, onion and cucumber pico de gallo all served over a vegetable ratatouille. Stopped by here brunch and we were seated right away. We ordered some festive cocktails but mine tasted really sour so I asked the waitress for the same one my friend got but the second drink was different from my friends. We got the Prime-Rib French Dip and the eggplant fries and a cheeseburger with regular fries. Both the French dip and the burger were juicy and well seasoned. The eggplant fries were the star of the sides and tasted delicious! I am definitely going to order more for the future! Joined some friends for brunch and had a wonderful meal. Go! We were a large party and arrived at different times. Our server was super, checking in, bring drinks as we arrived and let us settle in as we were celebrating birthdays and the holidays. While the live music played, which was perfect backround, we enjoyed a a meal that was representative of the varied and interesting menu. I started with the onion soup, always a good test for me and found it excellent with dark caramelized onions and rich broth. Eclectic place in Fairfield with live music on a Sunday morning! Love the open air side of the dinning area and the bar is cozy and well stocked. We were told brunch and the full menu were available. Plates arrived and looked most pleasing, side of home fries and fruit salad which menu did not specify. Nice! Steak tender and sausage delicious, but Hollandaise sauce was not to our liking. It was very thin and had a sour taste which was not pleasing. The potatoes were perfectly browned...fruit salad refreshing, but main dishes fell short. Service pretty good except server never checked in to ask if all ok. Came here really hungry. It's almost 3:00 on a Monday and there are a couple of occupied tables and a couple at the bar. Server is pleasant and kitchen is efficient. We were so happy we chose this cozy gastropub for Sunday brunch. There were ample menu offerings on their brunch menu, in addition to their regular menu. The Little Goose was jam packed with fellow brunch goers enjoying the live music.. we were happy to had made a reservation in advance. My quiche was thick but fluffy, and the side garden salad was the perfect accompaniment. The highlight of our meal was the cappuccino topped with a quaint rock candy, which served as the sweetener. The singer was very good and the perfect accompaniment to our meal -- not too loud with excellent cover songs. Brunch cocktails were outstanding, we had a mimosa and a bloody Mary. Both had just enough booze!! They had two choices of quiche - meat and non-meat. I picked the non-meat version, which was served in a healthy portion with salad. It was served warm and was delicious - probably the best quiche I've ever had. My friend had the corn flakes-crusted french toast, another hearty portion. It was served with berries and whipped cream and was another big hit. Our service was exceptional even though the restaurant was pretty full. I chose this location for a party 15 for an after-baptism brunch gathering. I worked with Karen who is the manager to decide if we wanted to do a limited menu or the full menu. We ended up having to reschedule the baptism and consequently the brunch 2 times due to the nature of kids getting sick. Karen was so gracious and communicative during these reschedules. When we arrived our tables were ready and I had mis-counted and needed an additional table - which we got. Everyone liked the food and the service was very attentive. I had the "Chicken littles" which is waffles and chicken tendies/bites. My brother got the Santa fe salad which was very fresh and I posted a picture of. The onions and broth were tremendous and the cheese was smoky. I really enjoyed the soup. Good - the nachos, despite lacking in appearance, were very good. The chili was flavorful and the dips were excellent. - The drink menu and beer selection is extensive. The hot toddy was okay, but my wife enjoyed her spiked coffee. - We waited a couple min because we wanted to sit in the main bar area but there was also a small little dining room that was significantly quieter, if that's the vibe you are looking for. Meh - The English muffin on the Jack Black burger was hard, made eating the burger difficult and didn't really add anything to the flavor. The burger itself was okay, definitely a flavor profile that requires you to love pepper. The appetizers stole the show today and we were very happy with our experience. I would come back in for the French onion soup alone. With a cute bar area and solid food/drinks, I'd definitely recommend the Little Goose for bar food. read more

Stopped here for an early dinner when traveling out of the woods of our home area for an appointment. Found this little gem on my Yelp App. Such a cute little spot! They have a bar area with high top tables & another small dining room that has garage doors that open during nice weather or close for air conditioned hot weather. We arrived starving & started with the chicken teriyaki potstickers & chili with chips. We loved the potstickers with their super soft wontons stuffed with melt-in-your-mouth chicken filling. Their Thai chili sauce I could drink with a straw it was so good! I would've loved if they pan fried the wontons to give it that crunchy chewy texture, but they were still delectable as is! Only downside was they only gave you four small wontons as an appetizer & I could have easily ate 4-6 myself! The chili was rich and flavorful served with housemade tortilla chips. It was great because the chips were sturdy enough to stand up to the thick chili without breaking. Now this appetizer could've easily have fed 3 to 4 people. My husband got the little goose burger with American cheese that comes with arugula and tomato on an English muffin. He substituted fries for their shoestring homemade onion rings. He liked everything very much! I ordered their Big Mac burger which came on grilled Texas toast with lettuce, tomato & special sauce. It was supposed to be a grilled cheese cheeseburger, but was just an ordinary cheeseburger. However anything that's on grilled, buttery Texas toast gets a from me! I got a side salad instead of fries, which was a very large portion with their only dressing choice, balsamic vinaigrette. Our server was Denise & she was friendly & attentive to our needs. I was disappointed in the entire experience last night. I realize it was a busy night so I understand how mistakes happen. The manner on how it was handled was not appropriate. My boyfriend and I ordered 2 specials and when they came out we were caught in deep conversation with my daughter who just came home from college that it didn't dawn on us that my salmon or his short ribs were not the special. My salmon was burned and so overcooked that it was bone dry. My boyfriend pointed out that our plates were not what we ordered and the waitress began to argue with him saying we should have told the busboy. It was contentious and made me uncomfortable. They did take the plates off the bill but when we pointed out the plates were wrong she did admit that they realized it after it was brought to my table and it was the miso salmon from the main menu. Perhaps some intervention would have been proper and offer to change it? nothing was mentioned until I informed the wait staff. Odd. Such a cute place but we won't go back. read more

I had been to the Little Goose several years ago and was excited about returning with some friends for dinner. Unfortunately, we had a terrible experience and won't be back. I had called earlier in the week to ask about making a reservation for Friday evening but was told they didn't take reservations for fewer than 6 people and I should be fine walking in at that time. My partner and I arrived about 15 minutes before our friends. When we walked in, the girl greeting and, presumably, seating guests was rude and dismissive; she acted like we were putting her out by asking for a table. There were clearly open tables but she huffed and fussed and rolled her eyes while saying she guessed it was fine to seat us at a table for four. We were given water by another sullen waitress who said nothing to us, and then promptly left and never came back. My partner and I sat for 15 minutes waiting for someone to come and take our order, while wait staff regularly made eye contact and continued walking by without so much as acknowledging us. When our friends arrived, I asked the waitress who had given us water if we could order. She said yes and walked away, not to return. 5 minutes later, a different waitress, who had walked by us at least 20 times as we sat and waited, showed up and said she didn't realize our table was her responsibility and could she take our order. She was insincere and once we placed a drink order we decided to pay our bill and go to another restaurant. I've never had such poor, rude service. Maybe this is a spot for all the local geriatrics and outsiders or non-regulars aren't welcome, but if that's the case they should just say so. This goose is cooked. Save your time and money and go to a decent establishment with friendly staff. read more
