Sandwich shop inside East Rock Market. I can't say I was too excited about any of the limited options, but the tuna melt punched above its weight. Tons of tuna and some good melted cheese on a panini-pressed ciabatta. I get that they're called Meat...but would be nice to see a veg sandwich option too...

I very much enjoy the meat at Meat. It's a great quick bite, late night snack, filling dinner. It's a choose your adventure kind of treat. It's really tough to pick a sandwich because they all sound so good. They have a nice balance of ingredients and flavors, and the bread adds to the perfect sandwich texture. Served quickly on foil and branded brown paper, the meal feels casual yet made with love. Lots of unique sandwiches as well as classics to try. I can't believe it's taken me so long to give it a shot. Don't let that be you!

Hi his place is great. All sandwiches are cooked to order. The menu is limited but there's something for just about everyone. The guy behind the grill was quiet, busy and very clean. Every sandwich is cooked on panini grills and my ribeye steak (actual steak) was delicious. Great find and not terribly expensive

Awesome experience with late lunch at Meat & Co! I used the ordering window to the right of the door (very convenient and COVID safe) and ordered a 50 Cent. It was delicious, all the ingredients were high quality and tasty individually, and perfect when combined. Would love to come back and try other menu items, especially their Reuben!

I've been hyped to try this place for a while since I love a good sandwich. The location is small and hidden but easy enough to find. The sandwiches were easy to order online and ready on time. The sandwiches themselves were pretty good. The steak sandwich was very sparse on the steak but it was quite tasty. The chicken sandwich was fine, but the chicken wasn't too flavorful. The Reuben had a wonderful pretzel bun and delicious sauce. Would love to come again to try a few of the other sandwiches.

The idea of this place is to have a no frills but unique sandwich experience. It is an offshoot of 116 Crown. This was my second visit. I brought along a couple of friends. Two of us shared a couple of sandwiches; The Revenge of Mr. Jeremy Fisher smoked trout, pea tendrils, pickled radish, ladybird dressing Uncle Orie (cubano) #hotfire walden hill ham, brie, tomato, garlic bread The sandwiches tastes pretty good but for $10 they need to be much better. In today's market you need to have a whole grain bread. We have great bakeries in New Haven so there's no excuse. The garlic bread with the Uncle Orie wasn't very garlicky. Additionally, we wanted the special on the board which was a smoked whitefish but upon ordering were told it was last week's special and they were out. This was on a Tuesday and they said the specials go Wednesday to Wednesday. Lastly, no diet soda and out of chips. The person making my the sandwiches was the manager. She didn't seem to care that much about the shortfalls making it seem like the norm. Not a good thing for long term survival. Just not a very comfortable experience.

Absolutely incredible sandwich. I ordered The Cure, which is the Salmon and arugula sandwich and the flavors all complemented each other perfectly.

Such a perfect lunch place--we think it's the best sandwich in New Haven. Wish it was just a bit closer to the med campus, though it makes a nice once-in-a-while treat... We tend to stick with the beef sandwiches here, especially the God Forbid (though I've been curious to try the Bluto, which pairs spicy chicken and honey mustard ). Love the juicy + flavorful meat here, and the perfectly grilled / slightly crunchy bread. The God Forbid has roast beef and liverwurst along with a sweet onion jam. The sweetness of the liver and jam are perfect together. All the sandwiches are pressed to grill until a nice crust develops and cheese melts and crisps at the ends. Not greasy, and a good amount of salt (perfect for me, might be a touch high for others). Altogether, Meat & Co makes a high end-style sandwich at a very fair price for the quality (~$10). It's kind of small and casual (stool seating), but we haven't ever had a problem getting a seat. Service is fast. I sometimes forget but there's a nice lunch special on Monday, plus--though I've never tried it--absolutely perfect (as in hearty af) late night specials Sat/Sun (8 PM - 3 AM). Ill try to come back for it soon!

    Chicken, it's what's for dinner.

This was my first time coming to Meat & Co and I'm hoping it won't be my last! Ended up coming here on Saturday night when my friend suggested coming here. The place itself is very small and kind of tucked away. The menu here is pretty awesome and gives you a nice variety along with some cool names like the "Cypress Hill" and the "Rick Reuben". I had to order "The Bluto" which was a spicy fried chicken sandwich with honey mustard in between some buttermilk biscuits. I really enjoyed the sandwich even though I wasn't completely sold on the biscuits (just didn't win me over). The chicken itself was juicy and tasted fantastic. Overall, this is an awesome spot and was the perfect food for us at the time. With so many places in New Haven, it's hard to stick out but this play certainly does.

    Hell. Yes.

Holy crap. I don't know why it's taken me so long to eat here, I go to Cafe Nine all the time and am often looking for a bite post show. The staff is so friendly, as are the patrons. The sandwiches are amazing. My guy and I went nuts and ordered the Big Pun to share. It was stupid good, and I needed a fork (he somehow managed without). The owner stopped by and chatted, which was nice. Best 2 am eats, hands down.

Grossed me out - seems like poor quality. Not sure where the food is actually made, weird storefront pickup.

Jess L stated in their review that you're a good place for a "late night snack?" Was that a verified review? Aren't you guys only open for lunch?

I'm a customer, not a staff member, but I can confirm they are open for late night bites!

If you enjoy the flavors of Indian food as well as one of those quick service, hot chicken restaurants you probably would enjoy Hot Murga. The chicken sandwich comes in five spice levels from no heat to super hot. I got the standard hot, and it has some kick, but it wasn't overpowering. Then again I enjoy spicy food. I also ordered their spiced mac & cheese. Again, not spicy at all, but flavorful. Also a good portion as I have leftovers for later. I had my food delivered, but this establishment is close to the Yale campus and street parking can be a bit tricky on Howe St. and around Broadway. I've been inside of the space once when it was a different restaurant some years ago, it's not a large space, but I'm pretty sure comfortable if you decided to dine in. If you ever find yourselves at a crossroad between wanting Chick-fil-A and Indian food, this would be a great alternative.

Honestly, I didn't think the Murga Sandwich itself had too much flavor - the fry was good and the chicken was juicy & crispy, it was just a lacking seasoning and even "hot" was not super spicy. The spice itself also tasted very one dimensional - just spicy, with no seasoning. Overall, I was a bit disappointed by the sandwich itself, but would be interested in trying some of their other sauces. The Badmaash Mac & Cheese was the redeeming item of the meal though - this is basically a Mac & Cheese, covered in tikka sauce & their spicy sauce, and topped with fried chicken. It's definitely a unique flavor, and I think the tikka masala sauce went really well with the cheesy mac texture. Definitely seems like the kind of late night out comfort craving, because it is super heavy. p.s. - pro tip, the sandwich itself is $12 but the sliders are $6 and definitely larger than half of a sandwich (probably closer to 2/3rds). So I'd get 2 sliders for $12 instead of a sandwich.

One 6 Three is an unusual name - it's a small and cozy spot with few tables and bar seating, set in a residential neighborhood. We tried the gluten free crust (available only in 12") American margherita pie and added mushrooms in half of it. The wood fired crust was well done, I really liked it. Lots of garlic, yum. However, the tomatoes on it were raw and that didn't feel very good. Also, there were no condiments offered on the side- like oregano- is that normal in a pizza place? Maybe I need to try more pizza places :)

This place is small, unapologetic, and full of character. Decorative firewood stacked with intention, walls filled with wine corks, and #10 tomato cans repurposed as pizza stands. Walk in and you immediately catch the vibe, exposed brick, distressed plaster, a slightly industrial, almost factory-style feel that somehow still feels warm and welcoming. The centerpiece of the room is the wood-fired oven, running hot and glowing with that perfect orange flame. The aroma of burning wood hits you right away and sets the tone. From that moment on, the culinary experience is in motion. We ordered The Mootz and Breaking My Meatballs. Both pies are built on a very thin, tender crust with beautiful leoparding. The dough is flavorful and clearly well-fermented. Sauce is applied with restraint, just enough to support the dough and cheese without overpowering them, and it delivers a clean, bright tomato flavor. Breaking My Meatballs was the standout. Homemade meatballs, herbed ricotta, cherry peppers, mozzarella, and that same balanced sauce. The cherry peppers bring a sharp vinegar tang that cuts perfectly through the richness of the ricotta and meatballs. Every bite hits a different note, and it all works together. Easily one of my favorites. The crust across the board was thin and tender with a delicate smoky char from the wood fire, exactly what you want from this style. Bottom line: Great spot. Excellent pizza. Super friendly staff
