This place seriously sucks. Their hot sandwiches/subs are terrible, especially the chicken cutlets. What self respecting deli serves a chicken parm on un-toasted bread?! Sauce is the typical jarred garbage, definitely not homemade. Called ahead and of course my order isn't ready or even started, so naturally they panicked and sloppily threw something together. The service here is very slow. It takes 10 minutes for someone to even acknowledge that you're in the store. The woman that works there is always nice, but that's about the only positive. The drink cooler is usually half empty. I also think it's beyond shady that they got a C rating from the health department and then hid that behind their store hours sign. Generous portions for reasonable prices! I recently started working in the Orange area and was searching for a deli for lunch and stumbled on Mr. Kold Kuts. First impressions while walking in was of an old New York City throwback deli. You can tell that not much has changed over the years and while it may not be much to look at the place puts out some very good food. I'd recommend ether a cold cut sandwich (it's in their name) or the chicken cutlet. They overstuff the sandwiches and average about 7 or 8 dollars for a grinder. There's also plenty of sides like potato salad and macaroni salad to go with. Went there for the first and last time on 8/30/17. I placed an order for some cold cuts and didn't pay close attention at first. After I ordered my second item I realized that the gentlemen was handling the meats and cheeses with his bare hands. He proceeded to answer the phone, wipe his hands on his pants and handle money while filling my order. There was a second clerk, a woman, who was making a salad for another customer - using her bare hands as well. I was too grossed out to say anything. Solid 4, I love coming here for lunch. Try and catch it around 11:30/11:40 because the line gets long by 11:45. They have a variety of food here - subs, pasta, cooked dishes (i.e. chicken parm), etc. They run daily specials too - I like coming on Tuesday or Thursday because they have the cauliflower and broccoli pasta specials on those days. The sandwiches are very good and the prices are average. The employees are always friendly when I've been in there. They have a decent selection of food and beverages, though I've only been in there to order sandiwches. They have a display case with various pasta salads and things as well as a few market type items like packaged cookies and breads. I've had an eggplant parm and a meatball sub from there. My boyfriend enjoys their Italian combo. Everything has been tasty, but not the most amazing subs I've ever had. However, they are definitely better than going to Subway and it's nice to support a local business that actually has a unique character to it. They are located in a plaza on the Post Road somewhat near the mall. Sometimes it's hard to spot on the approach but there is ample parking available, which is helpful. As another reviewer mentioned, the seating situation is a bit bleak: just a couple of bar stools by a counter that runs along the back wall, though I have to admit, we have sat there to eat our sandwiches every time I've visited. Seems like they would have enough room in the same area for a couple of little tables which would make it a bit cozier than staring at the map on the wall. Great cold cut subs like turkey, Italian combo, roast beef etc. I've ordered the chicken parm and chicken cutlet and they are just ok. I prefer a crispy cutlet. Nothing crispy here since it's more steamed probably because they store them in domed containers. The bread is delicious. And the service is great. Love this place. Still the best Italian deli! I've been eating here since I was a child. Now I drive an hour just to get their cold cuts. Everyone is always so friendly and the food is phenomenal!! This is a family run deli. Their cold cuts are top quality, they get their breads from Terranova on Arthur Avenue and their meatballs are among the best I have had. They also know how to properly cut prosciutto for a grinder which is a big key to making a good sandwich. Prices are very reasonable and the owners are attentive to making good food. The bread crumbs was thicker than the meat! it was like eating a loaf of sticky bread. The bread was not good at all aswell and Hardly any red sauce. And it was 7 bucks I wish I never spent.
