My mom and I were on our way to visit a family member on New Year's Eve. I was really craving a bagel with cream cheese, but all the shops I found that were on the way were closed because of the holiday. I finally came across this place. We stopped by. When we went in, we were the only people, but that changed 3 minutes into our experience - it was customer after customer after that. I think a lot of guys with hands on jobs come here to buy breakfast before work (it is convenient, cheap, and delicious). I finally decided on one of their specials which was a grilled cheese on sourdough. It came with bacon, avocado, tomato, and cheese. My mom wanted a traditional American breakfast so she had the platter - 3 eggs, bacon, and toast, with a side of coffee. Altogether it came out to $20 which was really good. We were in no rush, and I think they saw that so they prioritized their orders. They have milk (whole, oat, and half and half) and sugar for the coffee on a table to the right of the counter. While I waited, I admired the plants they had all around the windowsill. I was also loving all the natural lighting coming in. We noticed it was a bit cold inside. The bathroom is clean and warm. After about 15 minutes, our food was ready. Each half of my sandwich was big. I could see all the crispy bacon, the gooey cheese, the fresh avocado and tomato, and the perfectly crispy bread. The first bite was magnificent and so was the rest. The only complaint was that it did feel a but too oily. My mom's food was also good. The eggs looked great and the bacon was crispy just like she likes it. The only complaint with hers was that it seemed like instead of butter for the toast, they used congealed bacon fat. Overall, we had a great experience. Although it seemed like there were only 2 workers - one taking orders, and another cooking - they were very efficient. read more

I go here with my family about twice a month on Saturday mornings. It's a staff of about 3-4 and they do an excellent job. They always remember us and know what we like. The sandwiches are really good and they have a nice little outdoor seating area in the warmer months. Some of the food is not homemade but they still do a good job overall. I would say it's a little pricey because I tend to spend around $40 to $50 on breakfast for 3 of us. We usually get two sandwiches and a breakfast platter plus a drink and it adds up quickly. Wait time is usually about 15 minutes. They get busy but they keep it moving. Pro-tip: add cherry peppers to your favorite breakfast sandwich for a nice kick in spice and flavor. read more

I am a HUGE FAN of Billy D's in Milford and could not be happier that they added their 2nd location here. It is a great takeaway spot with solid breakfast sandwiches and some lunch options; Ive been wanting a breakfast spot for so long!! This little gem on the Post Road has the absolutely best breakfast sandwiches. These delights are cooked fresh to order and have more variety to choose from than your average breakfast location. They have sandwiches with steak, chorizo, double bacon and hashbrowns. They do the little things like grill pepper and onions for the sandwich. read more

Let's be clear up front: I'm a huge fan of Billy D's in Shelton, and this experience doesn't change that. But the Milford store ruined my relationship with them last week. For the past year or so I've had the same takeout order, several times a week: two bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches - one for me and one for my wife. It's to the point where when I show up at the counter I'm asked "Same?" and the order is entered without my describing it. I've always tipped 20%. I've always been pleasant. Always smiled, always said thank you. I can't think of a time when I've previously had to return an order - if I ever have, it must be months ago. Then, last week, I brought the order out to the car and my wife pointed out that her sandwich roll was stale. She handed her sandwich to me. She was right. It wasn't toasted, it was STALE: the usually-soft outer crust was hard and the bread was dried out and hard through. Mine was slightly better and I was willing to keep it and not be That Guy, but my wife's had to go back. Okay - that happens. Not a big deal. But when I went into the place, the same staff who had been perfectly civil (not consistently outright friendly, like the folks at the Shelton store, but at least civil) pushed back hard. I was told the sandwich was "fine" and they refused to remake it. The attitude was overtly hostile, as though I had returned every order I'd ever received and had a reputation as a "problem." Shocked, I replied that this kind of reaction to a simple request would be enough to make me not want to go there in the future. "THAT'S FINE," I was told. Okay - so be it. But it's a shame. I can't imagine a business that won't remake a $5 sandwich, courteously, even if they think the customer is wrong. But now I've found one that is "fine" with the customer never returning. read more

If you need a breakfast sandwich and who doesn't, then this is your new go to place. We asked the very pleasant counter server what was their customer favorites. Answer? The Hangover and the El Chorizo. Of course we ordered both on portuguese rolls. Juicy, hot, hefty and flavorful! Score! Added bonus is their sweet little side yard with tables and a big picnic table and benches for groups. We enjoyed our breakfast next to a hungry bicycle club on a lovely sunny Saturday morning. Had lunch yesterday at this new gem in Milford. It's mostly takeout, with a few small tables inside and several picnic benches outdoors. A great selection of breakfast sandwiches along with burgers and come cold cuts. The Turkey BLT was served in a fresh Portuguese roll and was excellent. Bacon is thick and crispy. A bargain at $7. This spot is simplicity done really well. Counter service with several small tables indoors and some picnic tables outside. Coffee and coolers filled with a nice selection of cold beverages. If you're looking for a quick take out or eat in breakfast or lunch I HIGHLY recommend that you check out Billy D's. read more

My new breakfast sandwich go to!! Love the sausage egg and cheese. The poppyseed hard rolls make the sandwich. I also enjoyed the cheeseburger although I thought the patty was a bit too thin, in comparison to the thickness to the roll. Wish the lunch menu was a bit bigger but can't wait to try more. read more
