The Plate is a great option for breakfast within the area. The food is fresh, well cooked, flavorful, and plated nicely, and the prices are very reasonable especially for the generous portions. It was actually our first time eating here despite them being open for I believe close to 10 years now. I love how they continue to update their specials on a weekly basis, which to me shows that the chef and the kitchen are not complacent and continue to try to keep things innovative despite being a long-established restaurant. I do think that the business would benefit greatly from a renovation or relocation to a newer building. The interior and exterior could use some TLC, and it just seems like the use of space and flow of the restaurant could be more optimal. While service was courteous and fast, the business would definitely benefit from an overall additional focus on the front-of-house customer experience and ambiance. For example, having a sign that points to the dining room asking for customers to seat themselves feels too impersonal, and again this is where the restaurant's layout and extra space works against them. The chef's team clearly takes immense pride in the presentation of their food. Extending that same focus to the restaurant's ambience and personal warmth would truly elevate them to another level. There was a little plastic on the bottom of her country fried steak which mistakes happens sometimes but was off putting. And our waiter was not friendly at all. Well thought out and amazing looking menu but The food lacked seasoning/flavor. Things don't have to be overseasoned but a dash of salt and/or pepper could go a long way. The dish ate somewhat dry. I love goat cheese but there wasn't enough to make a big difference. Loved the texture of the eggs. As most of my friends know I had a weight loss surgery, which does not allow me to eat things very fast and things get cold. The only thing that was lacking was speedy service. All servers were friendly and helpful but it took about 20 minutes to get our check after we completed our meal. Despite how busy it was, service was prompt and friendly. I really like the menu; plenty of usual items, but a good number of creative ones as well. I had an omelet which was very good, but I especially liked the home fries with lots of paprika and onions. The white toast used better bread than most diners. I think in addition to good cooking, they use above average ingredients and it shows. The portions are not as large as some places, but they are definitely enough, and I'll trade quality for quantity anytime. Coffee was good too. Prices very reasonable. We met here for Family Brunch. I was excited to see the busy parking lot. The restaurant was very sleek looking with modern decorating and a not too loud dining area. We had a short wait for six guests. The waitress was attentive the whole time. She listened while taking our orders and everything came out right. As we often do, the hubs and I ordered the same thing. Both of us were tempted by the Pulled Pork Hash. We were the only ones disappointed by our meals. The portion was way too small for my husband and was only served with one piece of toast. More disappointing, was the lack of pulled pork. Normally, I would use the word ratio, but there was literally no pork in our portions. We both had 2-3 tiny threads of meat. This was the worst hash I have ever had. Granted we got there after 10am, but the meal should've been 86'd if they had run out of pork. Came here for mother's day and it was busy! A great atmosphere and a great menu made the wait worth it. A light cream sauce or dip could have added wonders! My mother and brother both got omelets, and they had similar comments: The omelet was too cheesy. It was so cheesy that it overwhelmed the rest of the meal. No other concerns from them. As for drinks, I ordered a bubbly lemonade (can't remember the name...Verdi or something) and it was great. Refreshing and you could barely taste the alcohol. If that drink tasted that good, I only imagine the other drinks are up to par. With some slight adjustments in seasoning and spice (and maybe sauces?) to the meals, this place definitely has the potential for 5 stars. I would definitely come back to eat here. The menu consists of your average breakfast menu but also has interesting and creative dishes that sound tasty! The food tastes great and looks even better on the plate. I have yet to try a Bloody Mary but it looks really good! The waiters and waitresses can get pretty hectic as they look busy trying to serve multiple tables at once. During busy hours, don't expect to see your waiter after you get your food and make sure you ask for extra napkins, straws, utensils or whatever you need before your food comes out. I feel bad because they look really busy but in the end the customer should feel satisfied.
