Extra crispy hash is well worth the wait on the flat top.. it's buttery and onion-y with toothsome bits of corned beef. Potatoes are over seasoned in the best way because there's nothing good about bland potatoes. Service is friendly and welcoming. Place is small but not too small. Maybe 8 booths or so and a counter. It must say I got there and the parking lot was so full I had to park on the curb.. But it was definitely worth it I was greeted by the cook James this and a woman behind the register who was running around serving everyone.. It was Sunday and they closed early I got there about 10:15. You could tell there were a lot of regulars.. Everything that came out was fast and made to order.. So as we drove up, my husband asked, "this place is really well reviewed?". I suppose o could have taken him to Cracker Barrel as we were road-tripping this morning, but how BORING. Instead we pulled into this diner. It isn't anything to look at, but the food was amazing! The service was attentive. The price was right. I live in NJ and would pick this place over my local diners any day of the week. The French toast was done perfectly. The loads hash browns were super flavorful with large pieces of bacon and ample cheese. No ketchup or anything was necessary. And the eggs were cooked nicely. I even got a banana pudding to go. It's a pretty small place, it perfectly strikes a balance between rundown and vintage. That could sound like criticism if you read it wrong, but I actually mean it as a complement. Many places attempt to mimic an old 50s/60s vibe and it's a little too "fake," if you know what I mean... And while Joe's Diner certainly tries to inspire nostalgia, you could also easily believe they've been using the same decor and music for the last 50-60 years. Again, that's intended as a compliment. When we went, there was only one guy working. I don't know if it was "Joe" himself, but he was awesome either way. Poor guy was cooking and serving every guest by himself. Despite how much work he was doing, he had a smile on his face the whole time and maintained an impeccably friendly demeanor. My wife's order included toast, which he forgot. It was ok, my wife forgot too and didn't care. But he was still very apologetic and joked that he's "a terrible waitress," to which another guest replied "yeah, but you're a great cook!" We can confirm he is indeed a great cook. Our food was tasty, delivered in timely fashion, and his tip was well deserved. Great place to catch a breakfast in this little Connecticut area. read more

Absolutely love this place! Hometown diner! Very old school. Doesn't look like much on the outside but the food is great. May I suggest the Burrito Omelette, simply delicious! Today I went for simple oatmeal and it was cooked to perfection, my husband got the eggs and the homemade corn beef hash he said it was excellent. Finally stopped by! I have driven by Joe's Diner many times. Initially, I viewed it as a hole in the wall joint that caters to the motel costumers next door. Surprisingly, I saw that some of my fellow Yelpers have already labeled this place a hearty breakfast spot. Sooo....yes it can still be deemed a hole in the wall but their breakfast was good. I had the loaded breakfast. It comes with their loaded home fries that has onions peppers and loads of cheese. there is also 2 eggs, toast and choice of meat. The meal comes with 2 patties if you pick sausage, they were delicious. The loaded home fries were seasoned well and the cheese was a nice treat. I would like to try their corn beef hash next time. read more

We always look for out of the way diners as we travel I-95. Although the food was good, we will not return. We arrived for breakfast & were brought 2 cups of coffee and we were then advised they ran out of regular coffee, but they could offer decaf or flavors. Secondly, when we got the bill, the prices did not match what was shown on the menu. We were told the computer system was updated with new prices, but they did not get the new menus yet. Maybe you should invest in a Sharpie to change the menus, or at least advise your customers, before they order, that the menu items were increased by a couple of dollars. You seem like nice hard-working people, but this is not a great way to run a business. Good luck. read more

Been coming here for years. Love how J makes my breakfast, he always makes it right . The atmosphere is old school and I really love it. Small and intimate is just right for me. One of their previous waitresses used to have my coffee ready at my favorite spot when she'd see my at the light across the street and J would start making my go-to breakfast. I had an appointment close by and needed to met with a business first. I Googled restaurants in the area and found Joe's. What a great find, I really enjoyed breakfast there. The food is made fresh and the service is outstanding. Many old signs fill the restaurant walls, with music playing to make you feel relaxed and happy I do plan to go back, next time for lunch. Waffles with strawberries - strawberries were frozen and thawed in microwave. They were warm and mushy. I get this ar various places often and everyone uses fresh strawberries during the summer so that was a let down. My wives breakfast as ok. Place is very old and outdated, but so people would like that. Two guys cooking really friendly and like-able for sure. Atmosphere a big zero, good barely acceptable. I give them credit for trying, but next time I'm in town we are trying a different place. Check them out and use your own judgement, just don't expect a fancy place. Located across the street from my job, I come to Joe's once in a while and always try to get something different. The food is made fast and fresh, I also really enjoy the positive energy when walking in, and being greeted with a smile by the people at the counter. I plan to start coming in a bit more frequently. My first time trying this diner and so far I really like . The staff is super friendly and I watched how they greeted every customer as they came in. Going to have to say that this places crowning achievement is thier staff. They are kind, personable, and attentive. They definitely create that local diner feeling. The food is very good. Ordered via uber eats. I was nervous bc it was breakfast and i thought it would be cold by the time they arrived to me. Lucky me, that wasn't the case. Happy that they read my little notes such as instead of my sandwich on regular bread they put it on a bagel. I find with a lot of places they never read the notes but I appreciate them doing it. Bacon, egg, and cheese bagel was good. Seasoned well and all components tasted fresh. Home fries were good but I didn't like the way they looked. Presentation was a little off putting but the flavors were there. Food was all hot when it arrived and super fast delivery. Definitely will try it again. I'd love to see how they do lunch. read more

Ahh, Joe's Diner. It's like coming home after being away. Very cool place. Has always reminded me of those "ol' school" diners from a much simpler time. You know the one's that look like they're sittin' on the foundation of a double wide, and tend to get crowded a bit too easily. Think, Clark K. taking an @%# whoopin' by a dude rockin the pre-trendy trucker hat, and then later-on redeeming himself as Superman, with a counter crawl for playing grab-ass with Lois. Anyway, there is just something different about an ole slice of Americana such as Joe's, and it ain't just about the awesome food. 1st, Joe's has managed to stay authentic in an area chock full of, gaudily renovated, Greek Diners; where perplexingly the food tends to suffer in lieu of the tacky design in most cases. Also, there's something about the way that everyone seems to know everybody else at Joe's (and even when you don't, they make you feel down, just the same). It's that small town vibe that just makes ya feel welcome. Joe's seems to be the exception to the rule, or rather the cliche. So for those looking for the authentic alternative, look no further. The warm atmosphere here doesn't quit, so do yourself a favor and stop in for a "breakfast on a roll." Oh yeah, and don't forget to have em' "burn the homefries.". read more

Diner itself is cool. But the food is WAY to over priced for what you get. Don't order the French toast. You'll only get three small pieces of bread, for a price that is more then two loafs at the store. I'd recommend going somewhere else. read more

Have been driving by this place forever and finally decided to give it a try. Old building across from the cemetery and pretty industrial area. Must have hit it on a bad day with all the good reviews about the staff. When you first open the door the cook is virtually standing right in front of you. He looks up without nary a smile or greeting. Waitress looks up at us and goes back to clearing tables. Wife asks if we can sit anywhere...she answers yes and goes back to clearing...then says...anywhere that it is cleaned.. OK...of course. Did not take long to order but took longer than expected to get the food. Ordered toast that came with breakfast platter...one order of dry white toast and one order of rye toast. When food finally arrived the white toast was delivered with the butter on...no sign of the rye toast. Wife asked for her rye toast and waitress supposedly went back to get it...Told her when she delivered food that I wanted some ketchup...how long does it take to deliver some ketchup? Eventually got up and went for the ketchup since it was in sight...no way... I am told that "I don't have to do that because that is my job"!! Still no sign of the rye toast...all the while we are almost done with the breakfast...finally see the cook waltzing over and delivers the rye toast...no "sorry about that" or anything...rye toast does not have any butter on it at all...no butter on the table but didn't dare try to ask for some at this point...Meanwhile waitress is trying to ring out takeout orders and hear her raising her voice to a customer saying "I have five things to do at once"...just tried to finish up and get out of there...Food was good but not worth a return. read more
