This is a location that I've driven past for so many years, but didn't stop by until a family friend asked us to meet them there for breakfast. Once you've been to a diner or you've been to the mall, right? That's usually my sentiment, however, I was pleasantly surprised by some of the Different menu options available here. We all sat down as a large group of eight and enjoyed the circular boot feeding. The location was super busy on a Saturday morning, which is to be expected. However, our waitress was extremely friendly and accommodating for all of the needs from children to elders in our group. The coffee was nothing to write home about, but a necessity on a really cold warning. What really caught my attention was the breakfast grilled cheese that they have on the menu. I love breakfast. Food and grilled cheeses are some of my favorite things to eat ever, but I never thought about combining the two until this day. I took a chance and tried it out, and it was absolutely divine! Bacon, egg, and cheese, but on egg grilled sandwich... Of course it was delicious! I would absolutely come back just for this sandwich, but definitely look forward to checking out what else they have to offer. read more

This is not a review but more of a tip. They're not open till 9 like advertised online but till 3. We drove here out of the way just to come to a closed diner. Really felt like I was stepping into the 50's. Staff was really hospitable. If you want something smoky and spicy, I'd recommend their chili omelet with rye bread and super crispy fries. Me and ny crew only had breakfast but everything was fresh, hot and delicious. Their blueberry pancakes in particular. read more

2 1/2 years after the plandemic and they're still scared to death. Masks on all staff, ugg. The echo is deafening in here, can't hear, can't read lips... Breakfast omelet order arrived fast. Waitress dropped off the plate didn't ask if I wanted anything else. Tabasco would have been nice. They were good, above average on coffee refills actually. The westerm omelet was good as were the home fries. They "never heard" of chicken fried steak, something I had a hankering for today. Being canvassed to register to vote was unique, apparently the portly woman has taken up station here, as she returned to her booth and scanned the new arrivals, approaching them directly after ordering their meal. read more

Maybe a 15 years ago, my wife & I got into the habit of meeting friends for brunch at a local restaurant. About eight years ago, when that restaurant closed, we tried other places until we found Blue Sky Diner. We were sold on the first visit. Family owned and operated, the staff is super friendly and welcoming. I didn't even mind it when the waitress called me "Hon"! Now, as regulars, when they see us come in, coffee & tea are waiting on the table before we can settle down in a booth. The food is good, with a variety of omelets and pancakes, but they also have a very creative cook who keeps coming up with new dishes. For instance, I liked their Huevos Rancheros, but he/she figured out a way to get all those ingredients -including homemade salsa rojo- into a whole wheat wrap. Delicious, and satisfying. read more

Visiting family in CT and my grandma chose to eat here for lunch today. It was a typical diner, they literally have everything on the menu, breakfast lunch and dinner any time of the day. I chose the Philly steak with cheese grinder and it was good, really cheesey which is how I like it. Seemed to be more mushrooms than steak but whatever, it was pretty cheap and tasted good. Everything was filling and the fries were nice and crispy. Grandma got the liver with onions and mashed potatoes, she liked it but I was completely uninterested. Something about my family, everyone loves liver and I just can't get on board. Hubby got chocolate chip pancakes and cleaned his plate. Everything was extremely clean here, typically when visiting diners I find dust caked onto something, but not here. From the window sills (repeat dust offenders) to their white coffee mugs, everything was seriously spotless. I'd recommend for a quick bite to eat if you're in the area. read more

So.. We've been to this diner a few times now and theres nothing memorable about it. The woman at the front told us to walk to the side for our table and the black busser guy asked in a rude voice "where you goin" uh excuse me I'm going where I was told to gom once he realized, his tone softened. The first waitress we had didnt even seem like she wanted to be taking our orders let alone be here. Then we got another waitress who took our order. She wrote everything down. When she brought it out my order was wrong. I ate it anyway because we have places to be today. I asked for over medium they gave me over easy. It may not seem like a big problem, but when cooking eggs, if its sunny side or over easy, most of the time the whites are runny and I dont like it. Its snooty and gross on the tongue so that's why I get over medium. The yolks is still runny but the whites are completely cooked. The toast seemed like it was sitting out forever cause it was hard not soft. They use margarine instead of butter. I also asked for hashbrowns and they gave me home fries, and I asked for extra crispy bacon and it wasnt. Then we were never asked if we wanted refills on our drinks. Now I know what you're thinking we could have been a bit more assertive and to that I say yes, true. But this was an experiment that went horribly wrong. Just because you're busy doesnt give you an excuse to be shit. Sorry not sorry. Anyway I personally would have given them 1 star but my boyfriend said the coffee was good so give them 2. We sat there with our dirty dishes on our table with the same bussers and waitresses walking by for almost 8 minutes before they cleaned them off. We werent asked if we were all set until 18 minutes in, and yes, we timed it. So basically everything that could of gone wrong, went wrong. We're not entirely sure if we're ever gonna go back, definitely not when its busy again. read more

I've been going to this diner since it opened in 1963! Today, Mary, Sissy and the team have provided the best place to go for true, classic, diner food. We go there once a week and love the breakfasts! Best eggs, home fries and the service is always friendly! We feel like family, because everyone is wonderful! Their french fries are the best in CT! Try their daily lunch specials, coffee, tea, cup of soup and a sandwich at a very reasonable price! I love Blue Sky Diner! read more

Me and Mom have been seeing a good number of people here so we figured to stop and have dinner tonight. We started off with soup. Mom had the french onion au gratin soup and I had the lobster bisque. First of all Mom said there was hardly any taste to her soup. She said it was very watered down. My lobster bisque was flat tasting without one piece of lobster in it. Maybe the lobster swam by when they were preparing it. Both soups were just not good. Mom and me both ordered the stuffed cabbage dinners. All I can say is the meat tasted strange. I don't know if the meat was old or they used a strange spice...it was just plain bad. Luckily Mom ordered the mini dinner...she only got one stuffed cabbage. I ordered the dinner and was stuck with two....blechhhh!!!! I was given a container...and as soon as I got home it went in the garbage. Exactly where it belonged. This place can't even get coffee right. Mom said it was beyond weak. We just couldn't wait to get out of there. Another thing that bothered me...was they have fountain soda and they don't offer free refills. I truly don't like that. If I could give this place a zero star I would. I ordered an omelette with home fries no bread and if they can make it with oil instead of butter. My waiter said yes, (old lady, pony tail black hair, mask on) they come out with my order and have the toast on top of my omelette. I tell the waitress I can't have bread due to an allergy. She takes it back and only gives me an omelette. I wait half way for my home fries just to be informed that I didn't order home fries...I wait again for the home fries to be made just so they can come out and she tells me they were prepaid with butter. The waitress and I go back and forth as she expects me to still eat it despite my allergy. Then she rudely apologizes to me to which I tell her I don't want to accept her apology due to her aggressive demeanor and then she says yea well, "your right I don't mean it, because I'm not sorry." And honest to god my dad was there to testify that I ordered it correctly she just took my order listening through her butthole. And overall they still charged us $10 for an omelette plus a headache.... When I found out my dad still gave a tip because he's a nice guy to say the least it led to us arguing after my grandmas most recent passing. It was suppose to be a family dinner and led to being treated like shit by an asshole that still got tipped and brought us farther apart as a family, thanks for absolutely nothing. read more

Went here on a whim taking my wife's grandmother out for a quick bite. Found the place on Yelp, and it had good reviews. The outside is unassuming and the parking lot was pretty empty which at first I was pretty nevous about. The inside was really clean and was very up kept. Walked in and was immediately greeted and seated in a booth. I ordered a cup of coffee and some chocolate chip pancakes. Those pancakes were probably the best I've ever had, no joke. Coffee was hot and the server was nice. They've got a decent selection of both lunch dishes and breakfast plates. They also have some desserts like milkshakes, etc. If you're in the area looking for a quick bite, I'd definitely give this place a shot. read more

Had the healthy omelette with avocado and home fries. The chicken in the omelette tasted dry and I couldn't taste the cheese. The home fries were pretty good. My dad had the gyro omelette which he said was tasty only they forgot to add the gyro meat. The server was kind enough to admit error and gave him some on the side. This is one of the best diner spots in Stratford. They have an extensive menu and their dishes are all very tasty and fresh, I love their huge and delicious pancakes for breakfast and their meatballs are also very good. Their staff are very friendly and even when they are busy they are still friendly and try to talk with you, they also seem to respond to many requests and the place is kept clean. Always look at the specials board in the entry way as their specials can get quite tasty and creative. Also they offer free parking. So overall I recommend this spot, especially for breakfast or for quick bites. Will be back!!! read more

This was a first visit to Blue Sky Diner. We were greeted by our server, Rena, and she was full of energy. Two dinner meals cost $15.90, and that included the drinks. Add about a buck for Uncle Malloy, and tip and there you go. Rena was fabulous, fast, friendly, and made our visit a want to come back again to see if we were truly in heaven. If heaven is my destination, and I believe it is, then I expect a waitress like Rena, and a diner in the Sky like the Blue Sky Diner. There were no clouds for this review. All sunshine and rainbows. This is my favorite Diner in Stratford! Mary, Sissy and Derek treat you like family. I come in without the whole family they always ask how everyone is doing. The breakfast is standard Diner Breakfast and always good. Today my mom and I stopped in for lunch and they had a new lunch specials menu. Not standard Diner fare. But everything sounded great. We had: Shrimp and roasted corn soup Onion soup Chicken, bacon and avocado wrap Fried Clam strip wrap. Everything was delicious! I can't wait until my daughters are home this summer to take them for the new lunch menu! read more

If you have an allergy don't bother coming here. According to my waitress EVERYTHING is sautéed and mixed with cheesy sauces. When my waitress first came to the table. I told her we have a dairy allergy and we are dairy free. She didn't offer any options for us. So I asked if the marinara sauce had dairy in it and she said she can't be too sure but she thinks yes. So I'm suggested she go back and ask the chef. Like hello?! Then I decided to get my toddlers the hot dog and burger with fries. I asked does the bread have dairy in it. She said " oh we wouldn't know, it comes from a bakery" .. um.. ok great so your diner orders things from places and have no idea what's in it? Strange. I legit wanted to walk out but I know the kids would start to cry. I've never been treated this way ever ! And as she came back to us to drop food she sort of dashed it on the table without even saying anything. I mean who the hell employees someone so distasteful. I couldn't even eat my meal I was so annoyed by her. So as I mentioned don't come if you have any sort of allergy as they have no idea what's in the products they serve and everything is all mixed up and frankly they do not care.
