This was our first time trying them. This a simple diner in a strip mall. The waitress was friendly at first but I wish she would've communicated better. The prices are not that affordable, for the lack of decor and the basic nature of the food the food is overpriced. We ordered an eggs benedict platter$17.25, 2 coffees $3 each and one single fried egg. On the menu, it clearly stated one extra egg ordered with a platter is $2. However, when I received the receipt it stated $4.30. I brought this up to the waitress. She says oh yeah I charged you for an egg sandwich. I questioned why as we did order a platter and it clearly stated $2 for an extra egg which is what I ordered. She proceeded to tell me she worked there 19 years and on and on. I did not want to be rude or further the conversation as she was unwilling to understand or adjust the bill. I said fine I'll take my toast from the sandwich to go then. I paid my bill and gave the customary tip. I will not be returning to this business where the waitress fails to communicate correctly when taking the order, then fails to correct the issue at checkout. It was a difference of $2.30, but how do you take the liberty of charging me for something I did not order. The food was basic and the waitress was stubborn for no good cause. There are plenty of no frills diners in the area which I will frequent before setting foot here again. read more

I chose this place based on Yelp reviews. Although I'd been recommended a different diner-type place, this one had fewer negative reviews. At 7:30ish on a Thursday morning, I was the first person to enter that day. I was met by what might be a husband/wife team, and was given my choice of seats. I ordered my go-to of blueberry pancakes, 2 eggs over-medium, and bacon, plus a cup of coffee. The coffee was better than most I've had in diner settings, but it wasn't top tier coffee. The food came out unsurprisingly fast. Eggs were cooked correctly, and the pancakes were large and fluffy. I had ordered my bacon crispy, and it was decent, but I do wonder what I would've gotten if I hadn't asked. With 4 large pieces, it was plenty. I was asked once for a coffee refill, which I took. I was in no rush to leave, and I wasn't asked to leave, but the check delivery and no 3rd refill of coffee made me feel less welcome. Service was otherwise fine...the server even struck up some casual conversation...it wasn't as cheerful as I would have liked, but some people try to find common ground in minor miseries. I'll give her credit for trying to be conversational. I haven't been out to breakfast too often lately, and never in this area, but I thought the price was a little steep at ~$27 not including tip (maybe that 3rd refill would have helped). I'd still recommend the place, but keep in mind my experience might have been different during a typically busy time. read more

No frills place with really yummy food. My husband had a turkey club sandwich which he said was "really good." I had a spinach feta omelet that was the best spinach feta omelet I have had in a really long time. The crinkle cut fries were awesome too. Oh, and they gave me extra butter if I wanted to add more butter to my toast. read more

Old school diner among a small group of stores with a parking lot on Post Road just off exit 22 on i-95. It's been there over 35 years and it may initially appear run down but it's better than typical diner food and the service is extremely friendly and helpful. I found this place by accident and I'm so happy I did! It's tucked in a strip mall but it is such an old-world diner. Our waitress was sweet and most importantly, the food was amazing! We had immediate seating and the service was very friendly and quick with coffee refills. My friend and I both had Western omelettes which were cooked well and the home fries were great. The bacon came and it was over cooked and ice cold. I asked waitress could they bring some fresh bacon. She brought me back the same bacon heated up luke warm. Was in Fairfield CT and looking for a diner to grab a quick breakfast before heading back to grand central on metro north. Found this diner on Google and so glad we tried it!! A hole in the wall.. mom and pop kind of place. The quality of the omelette was amazing and not at all greasy. Not at all!! Johnny's has been a neighborhood favorite for many years. The owners changed years back and it's still as good at it was many years ago.
