Take out order, just a grinder and an appetizer. Veal parm grinder was just what you expect- good roll, good cheese, decent sauce and plenty of protein . If I go back I would consider it as a safe option and order it again. Fried mozzarella- I specifically asked "is it homemade?" The reply was "Yes." They suck! Garbage sticks that they bought out of the freezer at restaurant depot. They remind me of the mozzarella stick from the high school cafeteria. I ate one- won't eat the rest. If that is homemade I am scared to try the meatballs. I am disappointed that I wrote a negative review about this place but I hate getting ripped off. While I didn't take any pictures, I did go out with a table of 4 for Mother's Day. I tried the Calamari Fra Diavolo and let me tell you... it was AMAZING! I had a Pinot Noir to wash it down. Perfect. I did get to try my wife's dish the lasagna and that was some of the best I've had as well. Generally we take the trip over to Mama Theresa's but this time I wanted to try something new! I chose this place for my child's birthday dinner, mainly for its proximity to a haunted hayride. I couldn't be happier that I chose this establishment. The food is amazing (I have to point out that my family is still talking about the bread w/ olive oil and garlic!), the service is great and the atmosphere feels cozy and intimate. We were so happy with them that my elder child decided to have their birthday dinner here as well. This is the type of business where they remember you, you aren't a number. 4 of us had dinner last night, food was excellent! The eggplant rollatini was stuffed with ricotta, tender eggplant and delicious sauce. My husband had sausage & mushroom pizza. Nice crust, just enough toppings and again, that sauce! Fried calamari was tender & crispy. 6 nice size shrimp in the cocktail. If I had anything to complain about it would be the cocktail sauce was a bit wimpy for my taste. More horseradish, guys! This is one of my favorite spots in Shelton. I think we get pizza or some kind of meal at least once a week anything from their thin crust, pizza to their steak, pepper and onion grinders all food delicious they put together a great salad no long waits ready in 20 to 25 minutes for takeout.. also have family meals that you can get during the week such as a choice of chicken Parm eggplant Parm that comes with ziti salad and a small pizza for a reasonable price.... friendly staff everything is always fresh and the chef's do an amazing job. There is also a small area where you could sit inside and have dinner. That's very quaint but since it's right down the street from us, we do our takeout there and it's just the best. read more

We went to Trattoria Roma before heading to Legends of Fear to get our spook on and have truly always heard good things about the restaurant. We were greeted by a hostess and sat anywhere we wanted! We were the only ones in the restaurant in the beginning. After sitting, our waitress brought warm rolls with oil which were so nice and fresh. For our entrees we ordered the cavatelli and broccoli, which was really good! I just wish there was more flavor/garlic. We also ordered the scallops alla vodka, which was good! Additionally we had a large Caesar salad with grilled chicken. The chicken was very tender, which was excellent. The only thing I wish is that the dressing tasted more like Caesar. It was similar to a store bought dressing, but it was still good! Would definitely be back! read more

Horrible ordered pasta WITHOUT meat , and what a surprise, I got meat. No meat, means no meat. Bread was rolls, hard as a rock. And the salad was very small, smaller than before and was old. The food has gone down hill, would never eat there again. Don't waste your money! read more

Piping hot pizza and two delicious garlic bread platters, one with cheese and one without. Quite a good dinner I must say. I had never heard of them before today..found them on the net and took a chance. Seems I have been having much Italian lately but if it's good food..who cares? So we did not dine there so cannot comment on the atmosphere. But if it is anything like the food I am sure it is quite good. The food was quite enjoyable, ready quickly, piping hot and we all enjoyed it. Pizza was a bit cheesy. I know I am picky about my pizza. I would still rate their pizza above average but it didn't bowl me over. We enjoyed the Garlic Bread as well. We had never done that before..getting two platters of Garlic Bread but we could not decide whether to get cheese or no cheese so we got both! This is a great little italian place! Our GPS had us drive right past it so make sure you look up the name not just the address if you are from out of town. We were a pretty large party (9, 3 or which were kids) and had no issue getting a table. The prices were very reasonable and they worked with us to make sure the kids got smaller portions. I had the veal parm and it was one of the best I've ever had. Also, I asked for my angel hair al dente and they listened. It took a little bit to get our food out but it's totally understandable since we had a party so large. As for the other food we had, the rolls were freshly baked and delicious, the soup was very good and the portions were huge. We all had at least half of our meals to bring home. This is where I go when I want solid Italian food without going all the way to New Haven. The place is teeny inside--maybe 12 tables at most. Don't go here expecting a quick dinner if you plan on sitting down--this is a place where you go to enjoy the homey atmosphere and tasty food. The menu is very simple, classic Italian food at amazing prices and LARGE portions--last time we ate in we split the calamari and garlic bread with cheese for an app--very tasty. I got the lobster ravioli(only 13 bucks and SO good!) and Jas had the lasagna--we both had enough leftover for dinner the next day. We had a dessert and a bottle of wine as well--the whole meal was around 60 dollars. This place also does very, very good pizza--it's where we get the majority of our pizza. Thicker crust than New Haven pizza, but very fresh and very tasty sauce. It does get very busy at night so expect a wait if you do takeout. They have a good wine selection and the evening we went in they had half off of bottles of wine so we got a bottle of wine for less than $15! The portions are MASSIVE and the pricing is great! Great for kids or anyone not looking for authentic italian meal. Wednesday night special is dine-in only. We were 1of 2 tables the time we tried it out. Its all the pasta you can eat with a choice of sauce and side salad for under $10. We tried 3 different sauces and each was bland to our liking. Waitress was not attentive and seemed miserable to be there. Walked by our table numerous times without asking if we needed to refill wine or what-not. My boyfriend and I decided to come here after being recommended by a family member of mine. We were seated immediately and the service was friendly and somewhat fast throughout. My boyfriend got the chicken scampi and I went for the chicken parmesan. My bf said he liked his dish, but the chicken was a little dry. My parm on the other hand was really disappointing. The breading came off the chicken really easily and got all mushy into the sauce. The chicken had no flavor and looked like it had been preprepared and just heated up. The sauce was okay, but it was really oily. My pasta for my dish came in a separate bowl, and none of the sauce would stick, it just slid right off it was so oily. Apart from the food, the atmosphere was a bit dull and the constant stream of fruit flies buzzing around our heads and food was a huge turn-off. The Italian music (I'm assuming it's Italian) they had playing was fun to listen to, but way too loud for such a small space. Honestly the best and most delicious part of the night was the two hot rolls they gave us with and oil/spice mixture. I'm sad to give such a bad review, but as someone else mentioned, I wouldn't want to waste mine (or my boyfriend's) money here again when I know of places that serve much better Italian food elsewhere. read more
