i would love to say how amazing this place is! i ordered on Easter (should've known it's a holiday) but they were closed and the order still placed... without hesitation the next morning the lovely owner Danny called and asked if I had placed an order yesterday apologizing extra for the issues and suggested he would absolutely make it right. DJ's has been my go-to for pizza in Shelton and it's not even close. Super accommodating staff and prompt deliveries 100% of the time for me. They always check any notes I leave and orders are accurate when I open things up. Pizza-wise, I always ask for 'Kinda Light Bake' with thick crust and pies are always super consistent and really to my liking. Don't sleep on the wings and meat sauce over pasta either. read more

Naaa, not great. I wish I felt like traveling further to get better but DJ's Pizza was about a mile from my hotel. My wings was dry, they tasted like they was recook. I asked for 5 drums but she said the cook accidentally gave me the wings so he threw in 2 drums. Sounded suspicious so yes it tasted suspicious. The pizza tasted like store bought frozen pizza and didn't reheat any better. The cheese melted like your local store frozen section cheese and not Kraft branded. The picture was how it looked right out of the oven, but 15 minutes later looked and tasted blah. I didn't experience the cheese that strings and pepper stuck to the dough. I could have gotten better from Pizza Hut or Domino's and less expensive, the 2 was $30. No lunch specials, that's when I should have gone elsewhere but nooooo I had to have pizza. Smdh read more

Loved the pizza! Crunchy thin crust! Got a large cheese pie (made fresh to order in less than 10 minutes) and a small sausage mushroom pie. The sausage and mushrooms were real and fresh (not canned)! Little unassuming place in a mini strip mall. The food is as good as anywhere although my preference is for thinner chicken cutlets vs fat ones so I personally avoid all of the chicken dishes. The pizza is really good. We especially like the bacon topping because it's always well done and plentiful. We mainly stick to pizza and salads when we go out, and both at DJs are top notch. The real draw here though is the service with sincere smiles and cheery greetings. I never feel invisible or like an annoyance here. While that shouldn't be a baseline, in today's world it absolutely is. It's nice to walk in and get a smile and a bit of happy banter. They really do want and appreciate your business. read more

Great food, great people. We've lived in Shelton for a few years now and order from DJs several times a month. I personally love their buffalo chicken and harvest salads as well as the hot oil pizza. They've always been kind and professional to deal with. They treat you with respect whether you order a sandwich to pickup or 10 pizzas to be delivered for a (pre covid) party. Especially during this pandemic, each time we paid (whether in person when picking up or over the phone for delivery), they express how grateful they are for your business. A class act. read more

Back in the area for a few days and we needed to get some food- ideally delivered to our house. Not sure if DJ's existed before we moved, and if that's the case then shame on us for not ordering from them!!! I scheduled the delivery earlier this morning, the pizza arrived on time, hot and crispy just the way we like it. We ordered hot oil pizza and a mozzarella with tomatoes, basil and garlic. I'm in Shelton for work from the west coast, and wanted a pizza for dinner. DJ's was the highest rated and for good reason. It's a small pickup and delivery place, lots of parking, and easy to find. A good deal for $9, the pizza only took 10 minutes, and the cashier was very polite. The pepperoni had a little kick, just the right amount of good quality cheese, and a great chew to the crust. Big caveat: My wife ordered a pie & had it delivered. I tasted the pizza a few hours later and these are my obvservations. Pretty tasteless crust, more crunchy than chewey, like a soft pretzel dough. The cheese had no taste. The sausage was tasteless and dry. The roasted peppers were ok. And I couldn't find any meaningful amount of tomato sauce. Other than that, Mrs Lincoln, how was the play? PS. Calamari - over cooked and way, WAY over salted. Hands down the worst calamari we have ever had. The pies - next to nil on the sauce, very little cheese or toppings, burned the fresh garlic and completely overdid the crust. I really hate to do this because we used to LOVE djs. To us there was no other. We ordered very frequently and always ordered pick your own topping pizzas which would average $30 a large pie. We always felt it was way worth the $$. After getting food that wasn't up to par quite a few times we found another pizza place. We order pizza at least once a week as a treat for our family. This past weekend we were in the area and figured to give it another try. We ordered dinners this time and ordered chicken parm over linguine and chicken scarpiello over penne. My son said his pasta tasted like it was cooked in a dirty pan and my scarpiello was made with what I'm guessing just hot spices instead of the usual white wine garlic and peppers. It was so inedible I put it in a tin and was going to bring it back and ask the chef to eat it in front the of me but don't want to waste the gas going back and arguing over it. I love spicy food and if done right shouldn't make it to the point you can't even eat it. I paid near $50 and it didn't come with any type of side salad or even a piece of bread. As I stated I hate to do this but feel so disappointed and ripped off that this was my choice of refund because I don't think we will ever be visiting again unfortunately. Won't let me complete the review without a star so I'm forced to leave one. read more

We kept seeing the delivery cars around town and decided to try it. Now I know why they are seen every where! Not only was the pizza very good, but we appreciated the brand personality shown in the ordering process (ordered online through the website/GrubHub) and the good service provided by the delivery person. We started with a basic 3 cheese, which was very tasty. I don't know why it took us so long to try DJs. We have both lived in town for a long time, though we don't order delivery very often. When we go for pizza, we usually head to New Haven. It's good to know we have such a good place in town. We will be trying DJ's again and recommending to others. read more

We're staying in Shelton visiting family, and I needed a quick meal for the kids. After swimming in the pool, everyone was a little tired, so we decided to get delivery. I was a little wary with delivery to the hotel, and worried about leaving my kids in the room alone to run to the lobby to pick up the order. Not only did I get a call confirming my location, they also offered to bring it to my room. The gentleman on the phone couldn't have been nicer. Then, they arrived 20 minutes ahead of the estimated delivery time. Needless to say, my starving kids were overjoyed. The gentleman who made the delivery was so pleasant and kind. Our order arrived hot, and with plenty of napkins, plates and silverware (something that I completely forgot to ask them to include). The food was typical pizza joint fare, but everything was hot and tasty. According to my kids, the only thing that could have made it better would have been finding a dessert hidden at the bottom of the bag! read more

Their deliver is very fast, always comes hot, and they do an excellent job with the notification system that is integrated into GrubHub.com. They almost always beat the initial estimate for delivery. Pizza: Good, thin-crust with most cheese than sauce. Not my favorite style, but it hits the spot. Pasta: Excellent and all orders come with a good roll and excellent salad Sandwiches: Excellent and come on either a grinder or hard roll. (Very few places in the area deliver hard roll sandwiches) Prices are also a bit better than their competitors. Highly recommended! read more

Are used to love DJs it was my to go place to get pizza for the past maybe four or five years. they were nice they were kind if they messed up they made up for it which they rarely did I think one time they messed up the pie and they sent another one right over but there pies were delicious, the sauce was good everything was great but the last couple of times that I've called and ordered it doesn't sound like the same people but they tell me they're not new owners and they messed up quite a few times one time they delivered it to a different house and I had to argue with them about it was not delivered to my house and this time they forgot toppings even though I said it three times and the pizza just doesn't taste the same. it's very bland! the sauce taste different and it wasn't that hot! it was barely warm. This takes the cake for most disappointing pizza experience. Ordered the 3 cheese and there was little to no sauce on the pie. I couldn't finish it and tried to use the watery, flavorless marinara sauce I was provided with the jalepeno poppers I ordered but it didn't help. The jalepeno poppers weren't good either and I'm not sure why I was served marinara sauce with them. They're made with cheese rather than cream cheese which makes them seriously lack flavor.
