Came here one snowy evening. The staff was friendly and patient while i decided what i wanted to get. i ordered hot oil, mushrooms and broccoli pizza. Love love love love....And i moved here from NYC. Having originally been raised in CT until about 9 years ago, I am well aware of the fact that in CT finding a perfect pizza is as hard as finding an edible fish in the connecticut river. In addition, its always a gamble as to what kind of pizza youll get. Doughy crust to one person means a completely different thing to another. Greek pizza on the shoreline is nothing like "greek" pizza in hartford. Thin crust doesnt always negate the grease, and cheese doesnt always mean mozz. I tried three places prior to DJs, and found that theres more to beware of than the pizza alone. Apparently, around these parts, getting someone to willingly deliver your order to your actual door in an apartment complex is even harder than fishing for that aforementioned edible flapper. One refused to leave his car. Another told me that they had no idea how the dial pad worked. Another almost left when I asked him to come inside, and had to wait as I dragged children with me to his vehicle. Add to this fiasco the third idiosyncrasy that is pizza delivery in "The Valley": the inability to get the order correct- and youre just about willing to never try pizza again. Every. Single. Order. Was wrong. And usually the most important item. So those same people who had no idea how to dial four numers, or walk down a hallway, were now forced to go back, get my soda, and return. Making me get up, and wait for them the entire time. (Enjoy that $3 tip, thanks for being so flexible). Alas, i found a menu from DJs and it said "Mashed Potato Bacon". You couldnt stop me. From my days up in Storrs, I was pulled back in and it was worth every agonizing memory from previous orders. Upon calling DJs i was greeted with a friendly person, who actually seemed to enjoy taking my order. We both understood each other well, no more "valley" speak necessary. And when the order came, the driver not only knew how to dial a keypad but had no issues whatsoever coming to my door and even had a smile! Opening the package was killing me, but alas, inside was my beautiful pizza and everything was just as ordered! The pizza, though. Believe it or not, it makes me forget Storrs. At this point, after one beautiful bite of that perfect pizza I cant even remember what my old schools classic tasted like. I cant help but rave out my "favorite pizza place" now and im constantly making people who visit from the city try it. Id also like to comment on the peanut butter pie. However, there are no words in the English language that can do it justice. So I tell you this. Unless you are allergic to peanuts- get that pie. Heck, get the pie even if you are and take some benedryl. Itll be worth the hospital visit. Delivery on 9/28 to my hotel placed an order to deliver 25 minutes before close. Pizza was fresh and tasted pretty good. BUT, I have to give a HUGE SHOUT OUT to their Caesar Salad -- the lettuce was perhaps the freshest lettuce I have ever had at pizza place, heck, maybe even an Italian Style Restaurant. I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars. About 6 months ago after being so sick of the horrible delivery pizza in Stratford/Shelton someone told me about DJ's. I couldn't be happier. The food is always delicious no matter what you get. The delivery driver is always pleasant and nice. The food comes really quick compared to any other place I've ever ordered from. I don't think it's ever taken over 40 minutes not even on a Friday night. Their white garlic bread pizza is so amazing ! We started ordering from here because it's the closest in location to us. I really like the hot oil pizza. And the service when you call for delivery is the best I've ever experienced. Very friendly. We ordered from here too many times and my kids lost the taste for the pizza. Those finicky kids. Once they lose the taste for the next place, we'll order from here again. My only complaint is that sometimes there are charred pieces on the crust that surprise my taste buds. When the crust is good, it's good though. Thin, crispy and usually just burnt enough to be nice. Great pie and a very affordable price, got a large 14 inch for around 11 bucks and the pizza was good. A little greasy but not too bad, perfect crust. The only reason I give at least one star was because the delivery guy was very pleasant and had great customer service and the bottom of the pizza was a great flavor/seasoning. Though I try to write reviews, many don't get written for various reasons, sometimes even for my favorite spots. But I'm carving time out of my day, 3 days before Christmas, to write a review for DJ's. I placed my order through Yelp, and while deciding between L and XL, deleted one from my cart and purchased the other (XL). About 15-20 minutes after placing my order, I had a thought that maybe I didn't add the 'no cheese' comment onto the pizza I put through, and as vegans, it's a real mess, and pretty gross, to try and disassemble the pizza, remove the cheese and then place all of the ingredients back on. So I called. It sounded busy, busy, busy (ha, see what I did there? From Frosty the Snowman? ...No?) but whomever answered the phone said yes, the order came through with cheese, but he would make me one without. I thanked him profusely and told the kids that the pizza would be a bit delayed because I slipped up and forgot to ask for no cheese. Much to all of our surprise, the doorbell rang 27 minutes later and was delivered by a whistling, joyful person and was piping hot and DELICIOUS. I'm not really a red sauce eater, and I don't care too much for green peppers or black olives (my girls love them) but I devoured 2 pieces, as did each of my girls and even the 1 year old ate an entire piece (which was big!) 100 stars to DJ's pizza! Wow! Thats the one word I would use to describe DJ's Pizza. Staff is very friendly, and the food is out of this world! The Thai Chili wings are my favorite, along with the chicken parmesan dinner (which they bread in house with fresh chicken, nothing frozen). The pizzas are all 5 star quality as well with the Hamburger Special being the familys favorite (It's like a Big Mac pizza!) Definitally the best pizza place in Shelton bar none! read more

No, just no. We were looking for an inexpensive and quick bite to eat and stopped here. They were friendly and greeted us as soon as we walked in. We looked at the menu for a few minutes and they my husband decided he just wanted fries and I got a slice. Here's where it started to go wrong. They put my slice in to warm at the same time they started the fries?? Two mins later they hand me the slice and then 10 minutes later the fries. They kept the slice on top of the oven while the fries were cooking to keep it warm (it didn't). As we were leaving my husband asked for ketchup the guy says to him "I put two in the bag". We are from New York... Reviewing pizza... We know our standards are high but this place wasn't that bad. I liked my cheese slice; I felt like the shape was a little wonky and it was a bit greasy. Pizza was good, but about 1 out of every 3 wings were broken and left me with bits of bones in my mouth. The staff was friendly and the food was hot. Again the pizza was good and warm so I can't give a bad review. The wings prevent me from giving a better review. I think at the end of the day, it could have been just a bad batch, but working in restaurants for a long time, I recommend just throwing the bad wings away or find a new wing source. The sauce was good and they were cooked right - I understand that you as an employee probably feel the pressure to sell what you can and not waste a thing and 1 or 2 wings wouldn't be an issue, but when you pay about $1 per wing, you expect each wing to be edible. Think of what $1 can get you versus a broken wing. After $3 of 3 bad wings, I could have gotten a lot more for that money (a gallon of gas, 3 dollar store items, 3 bags of chips, a coffee and donut from DD, a weeks worth of chores for my son). This place is great!! They just opened up a location in Fairfield and since we found out we have been going there all the time. I typically get the blackened tilapia with broccoli and mashed potatoes and it's so good! We also tried their baked mac and cheese and it was so crispy and perfect. I highly recommend this spot as your go to Friday night take out food, we have nothing but great things to say!
