I am puzzled how there are so many great reviews for this establishment. I arrived at the top of…read morethe lunch hour and while there were a few getting take out, there was no one eating in. Should have been my first clue. The pizzas in the display case all looked enticing (although nothing labeled or priced) and I decided to get a Gramma slice along with the eggplant special listed for the day. I also got the ricotta/spinach bread showcased in the display case. I asked if the eggplant was a platter or a grinder/sandwich, and was told it was a sandwich. Great. Well, there was no grinder, no Italian bread, roll, but what looked to be either pizza or calzone dough made into bread like slices. Interesting. The taste wasn't great and it was difficult to pick up to eat without all falling apart, so I decided to remove the top piece of "bread" and eat it with a fork and knife. There was 1 piece of eggplant, 1 piece on each sandwich half. One. Eggplant Parm is cooked and then the slices layered, and usually there are at least 3-4 layers, but not this. The eggplant had many seeds in it indicating the eggplant is past its prime-not the freshest -and the seeds add a bitter taste. Not pleasing. Gobs of cheese atop the bread, but no Parmesan detected. The ricotta spinach was an inedible unappetizing mess of stringy cheese and overcooked spinach. The Gramma slice was ok but I would not return for this. The decor is great and the service was fine, but the food was not good and ended up in the garbage! Ugh! On street parking in downtown Bridgeport. I will not be returning nor recommending.

Service was very quick and friendly, and there was a diner-like ambiance that was casual and inviting. We tried three pies: clam, fresh tomato (summer special), and hot pepperoni. The clam pizza had great garlicky, lemony flavor, but some of the clams were too chewy for my liking. The fresh tomato pie was my favorite, as it was light and had great basil and garlic flavor. The hot pepperoni and peppers pie was also good, packing more of a spicy punch than expected, but overall very flavorful. The crust of all three of these pies was fantastic, light and crispy, yet still substantial.

We ordered one pizza with one topping and waited quite a while. A table seated next to us arrived after us, ordered four pizzas and received all their food before we got ours. I asked our waiter if there was a reason the table got 4 pizza's before our 1 pizza and his initial response was simply, "No reason." When I questioned it further, he said it depended on when the tickets were received, which didn't make much sense since they were seated after us. I understand delays happen, but a kind explanation or apology would have gone a long way. Instead, the response felt dismissive. I tried to send this feedback through the restaurant's website first, but it kept giving me an error from their website, so I'm posting it here instead in the hopes that management sees it and can address whatever caused the delay and help prevent the same experience for future customers.

If thin crust is your thing (like it's mine), you've gotta check this place out! It's primarily a delivery and takeout spot, so there are only a handful of seats inside, but if you do dine in it is BYOB so you can bring your bottle of wine or can of beer or hard seltzer and enjoy a hot fresh pizza right out of the oven! The fried mozz was good too, but I only tried it because I shared an order with others, it's not something I ever order on my own. If it's your thing, you'd enjoy it here but I want ALLLLL the pizzas! The Friday Shrimp Pie Specials, the Summer Pie (DON'T MISS THIS), tasted like some great New Haven style pizza with delicious sauce and thin crust and fresh high quality ingredients. I was in heaven! I actually went the first time with a group of friends and then insisted the hubby make this stop on our way home from NYC one weekend so he could try it, and I could have more of it! If I didn't live an hour away, this would be MY pizza spot! It's that good! The wings weren't bad, but this wouldn't be my go to wing spot. But everything else was phenomenal! When we were leaving the first time, a nice woman walking out behind us told us she goes there every week to pickup a grinder and that we should try those too! I think it was chicken parm she was talking about. The second time we went we saw two guys eating their pizza inside that were regulars and say they go there all the time too. So the locals know this is a great spot and I was so happy to see the support and the people willing to talk about how great they are and how they love supporting this small family owned business!

We sat at the bar, and I liked how spacious the place is. It has that industrial brewery vibe, a large dining room, and outdoor seating. It's also within walking distance of the arena, so this is a good spot to grab food and drinks and or meet with your group before a concert or event. The pizza is thin crust and has a similar style to New Haven pizza. The flavor was great, but I felt like the center wasn't crispy enough to hold the slice up. It made things a little messy because the middle would flop while eating it. We ordered three small pies so we could try a few different combinations. One was the Weekend Special, which was a red pie with garlic, fresh basil, buffalo mozzarella, pepperoni, meatball, shaved Parmesan, and oregano. The small was $27, which I thought was pretty pricey for the portion. The other two were build your own pie; one white pie with basil and ricotta, and one red pie with pepperoni, meatball, and green pepper. All three pizzas tasted great. My main issue was the texture of the center. I prefer my pizza crispy enough that I can actually pick up a slice without everything sliding or folding over. Service was friendly and attentive enough, although I thought it was a little odd that my bartender disappeared and someone else took over without any explanation. My man tried a few of the beers and enjoyed being able to sample different options, while I went with a margarita flight. Overall, I liked the atmosphere and the pizza was tasty, but I definitely felt the pizzas were overpriced for the size and what you get.

8 Thousand Pizza is a pizzeria and pour-your-own taproom that opened in Milford, Connecticut in…read moreNovember 2023. It was founded by restaurateurs Skye Kwok and Tommy Nguyen. Kwok has more than 20 years experience in the hospitality industry. Some of the other restaurants he has opened include Sweet Basil in Fairfield, Pink Sumo Sushi & Sake Cafe in Westport, and Eat Noodle in Bridgeport. Kwok and Nguyen's latest venture opened at the Connecticut Post Mall in a restaurant space that was previously home to Cast Iron Chef Kitchen & Bar, which specialized in tavern-style pizzas cooked in a cast-iron skillet. 8 Thousand Pizza offers this same style of pizza, but what sets them apart from the previous pizzeria is that they also offer self-pouring technology, which became legalized in Connecticut in 2021. The food menu features two dozen tavern-style pizzas as well as burgers, wings, fries, salads and soups. Through the use of a supplied electronic bracelet, customers can self-pour their own beverage from a selection of 28 craft beer taps and 6 wine taps. There's a two-pint or 32-ounce limit for the self-pours. I recently visited 8 Thousand Pizza for dinner. I had previously visited the space when it was Cast Iron Chef Kitchen & Bar and was sad to hear that they moved. However, this new business concept of a tavern-style pizzeria with self-pouring taps sounded very interesting to me. This was actually my first visit to a self-pouring taproom, as these types of establishments only just began opening in the state in the last few years. After looking over the menu, I decided to order the "Grandma's Tomato Pizza" (fresh mozzarella, tomato sauce, roasted garlic, tomatoes and EVOO) and the "Hot Honey Pepperoni Pizza" (tomato sauce, pepperoni, hot honey sauce and mozzarella cheese). The latter happens to be 8 Thousand's signature pizza. Both pizzas had crust so thin that it's almost cracker like; they didn't flop at all. They were super crispy with excellent sauce and toppings. I honestly can't decide which one I liked better; they were both very good. During my visit, I enjoyed some self-pours of Grey Sail Brewing's "Captain's Daughter" (Double New England IPA) and New Park Brewing's "Cloudscape" (American IPA). Delicious pizza with craft beer is always an excellent pairing! I had a really nice experience at 8 Thousand Pizza and I hope to return with my family.

As someone who hates typical Connecticut pizza and firmly believes that New York pizza is in a league of its own, I was genuinely shocked -- and impressed -- to find pizza here that rivals (and in some cases surpasses) what I used to get in the city. It's just that good. I've been ordering from this place since it was The Pizza Post, and the quality hasn't just remained consistent -- it's actually gotten better over time. The management, owner, chef, and even the delivery driver are all incredibly professional and courteous. It's clear they take pride in their product and in their service. Delivery is always lightning fast, and there's never a delivery fee -- which in this day and age is almost unheard of. Another huge plus? The gluten-free pizza I order for my wife isn't some frozen, off-the-shelf crust like most places. It's made in-house, and you can taste the difference. She loves it, and honestly, I've stolen a few slices and couldn't even tell it was gluten free. The ambience is exactly what you'd want from a great local spot -- a classic, no-frills mom-and-pop pizza joint where the focus is on the food and the community. If you're on the fence or stuck ordering from the same old mediocre spots, do yourself a favor and give The Post a shot. It's not just good for Connecticut -- it's just plain great.
