Holy cow! These are seriously delicious large donuts. My coworker brought in an assorted box and it was super hard to make up my mind because they all looked so good. I'm a sucker for jelly/filled donuts, so I went for a blueberry crumb donut and did not regret my decision. The donut was dipped in glaze and topped with lemon crumb. Amazing! Despite there been more donuts left, I was stuffed. So, if you're trying to decide, choose wisely because one donut is enough to keep you full for a while.
These are just really fantastic. My boss brings in 3 dozen of these bad boys (donuts) to our staff lounge every Friday morning. Always look forward to which one I'll be trying each week. Their french crullers are light, airy and perfectly glazed - my favorite. Those powdered jelly filled ones on the other hand will be a heavy bomb to your body and will leave you full all day. Regardless, they are the best around!
Definitely worth the hype! Walked in and the line was almost out the door, but that didn't stop the staff from being quick but friendly with getting their customers situated. I purchased a dozen of donuts of various flavors and honestly it was a great price 17.45. Mind you I even got a few filled donuts such as the key lime and apple filled. No seating in Neil's however that does not take away from how great Neil's Donuts is! Wish I was closer!
Neil's Donuts is an absolute gem! We unfortunately live out of state but if we lived nearby we'd be here all the time. The selection is huge with donuts, breakfast sandwiches, muffins and coffee, and while the lines can be long, they move quickly. Pro tip: check out the menu online ahead of time so you're ready to order. The staff is fantastic--friendly, patient, and efficient, even with the crowd. The donuts themselves are out of this world. My favorite was the honey dipped, while my husband loved the blueberry crumble. Their filled donuts are especially impressive--split in half and packed with a generous amount of filling. Every bite just melts in your mouth. If you're anywhere near Neil's, don't pass this place up. It's worth the trip!
All I can say is "Next!" If you are a sinfeld fan you will know. But I'm all honesty what a great place. Even though you move through the line at the speed of lightning you are treated with respect. Friendly staff, great prices and delicious donuts. You have to be crazy to drive by. It is worth a day trip.

I was here a half hour before they closed and they were still very fresh. They were just about sold out but the slim pickings were fresh. The staff was very pleasant. This place started picking up and they were about to close. I was surprised to see this. I tried a few different donuts. The apple filled, apple crumb that was also apple filled, powdered jelly & boston cream. All of the donuts were filled plenty with their respective filings which was a delight to see for a change. Fresh, light & fluffy. Quality ingredients. The closer I looked, these donuts look like sandwich. Each that I studied looked like a sandwich filled with yummy goodness. It looks like they construct it as a sandwich which is kind of cool & different. The look of the place inside and out is a no frills plain generic look to it. Nothing wrong with that at all. Just saying. I don't need a place to look good. I only need a clean establishment with great food. I've been back here too many times to count since my first endeavor on an epic election day in 2020. They're doing everything right here. No problems at all. They keep you coming back for more.

The staff is so quick and efficient and the whole place smells like sweets galore (as it should). Not only are the donuts are amazing, but all the donuts are packed with flavors and their toppings and yet so light and fluffy! And only $2 a donut? Most places would charge almost $4 for these types of donuts! Wherever you are in Connecticut, it is truly worth the trip!

My old boss came by and he did not show up empty-handed! One of the many reasons we miss our old manager--up on the list was that he would bring in Neil's donuts every once in a while. It's a good thing it's not so often as we would fall into a coma before lunch even hits. Neil's Donuts is by far one of the best donuts we've ever had. I'm a Boston Cream lover and my goodness, they know how to make a Boston Cream! They slice the entire donut in half and slab on a generous portion of bavarian cream, which is not overwhelmingly sweet at all, which balances the sweetness of the chocolate frosting. I was not able to finish a whole donut in one sitting and saved the other half for lunch time. We were so lucky to be surprised with this goodness as it is almost an hour away from where we work. DEEElicious! I didn't physically go in to Neil's but was granted with a dizzying array of choices that were quite delicious. The donuts are cut & stuffed instead of filled. Quite different from what I'm used to but all of the flavors were on point. Highly recommended. But my favorite had to be the Cinnamon Roll. HUGE! It was buttery, soft, gooey & Cinnamony. I stopped by the spot because I was looking for a variety of donuts. Variety, it's something they don't lack here! We got a half a dozen of donuts and in our box was 2 rainbow sprinkle donuts, 1 Reese-cup donut, 1 blueberry glaze donut, 1 somas donut and 1 chocolate glazed donut. Service was quick and the place was pretty busy. What I didn't like was the price... $10 for a half dozen of donuts, not cool! Overall, I would recommend you going, but I wouldn't say it's the best donut shop in CT. read more

I strive to eat, good quality, fresh and healthy foods. However, lately my friends are not a good influence on my eating healthy. I have been hearing them rave about Neil's donuts for months now, and we finally succumbed to the temptation. The donuts were good, but not great. We shared the Samoa, the chocolate glazed, the double chocolate, and the apple filled donuts. We also had a carrot cake muffin, and a double chocolate muffin. I am a big fan of chocolate and neither the muffin nor the donuts had a rich chocolate flavor. One of my friends who had had these donuts before the pandemic said they also used to be bigger and were filled much more in the past. The shop is cute and the gals working there were efficient. They have a nice selection and variety of different types of pastries. I would give this place credit for their effort and probably give it another chance as it is hard to find family owned doughnut shops to support! read more
My all time favorite donut shop in the area!!! There are soooo many flavors to choose from and they are so delicious. I'm very picky about the donuts and not a huge fan of the donut after-taste. Their donuts don't have that kind of taste. My favorite was the Butterfinger donut! read more
When I lived in Connecticut many years ago, Neil's Donuts was the best place in the entire state to come to and get some dang donuts, so when my friend picked me up and drove me here for a quick breakfast last month I was pretty ecstatic to bite into a Neil's Donut once again. This place is not big, but it's part of the charm and it was pretty packed when we came on a Friday morning (as expected). The selection here is everything from coffee, cookies, and bagels to muffins, donuts, and breakfast sandwich but all I was tying to shred were some donuts. I ordered a donut with Oreo cookie crumbs on it and a classic glaze to down after that. Both donuts were puffy and absolutely delicious. My favourite thing about a place like Neil's is that it's simple donuts, which is honestly the best kind. Overall, this small donut shop packs a fistful of charm, has a great staff, and is full of some of the best donuts you are going to get inside the nutmeg state. read more

I actually haven't been in the place but on my visit to see my friend JimC he gifted me with some of the biggest and delicious donuts I ever tasted . we drove by the place a few times and it always had a line out the door and now I know why. read more

Donuts are something that I seek out as there just aren't many places to find them out here that isn't a terrible chain! Coming here I think my hopes were higher than they should be with all the reviews pointing to good donuts because what I found here was mediocre at best! First though the associates working were like expecting me to know what I wanted to order which was super annoying as I've never been here before and they only have these small little tags below the baskets on the back wall to see what they are. I'm not sure why they don't have a board with what they have as I even had a hard time reading what they had that mixed with being pushed to order something kinda annoyed me to the point I just grabbed two and was done with it. The first one I ordered was a blueberry cake donut which was very dry and lacked any blueberry flavor as well as any real wow factor to it as I've had many different blueberry donuts across the country and this one was nothing special. Then I also got a regular glazed donut as you can't go wrong with it this one was alright nothing to special just ordinary and also mediocre at best. Overall pushy associates mediocre donuts and nothing really to ever make me wanna come here again if I'm out this way! However I will say that their donuts are better than that terrible chain that seems to be all over the east coast but that's not saying much. read more

"Round round get around, I get around, yeah" (Brian Wilson / Michael Love) We've all seen signs and read articles for the Connecticut Wine Trail, ice cream trail, and beer trail, right? Well a few years ago I saw an article about the Connecticut Donut Trail (yes, there really is such a thing). Today, we made a stop in Wallingford to hit one of the stations on the trail (Neil's Donuts) and get a few rounds. They've been around for over 20 years and serve up some amazing Donuts, Pastries, Danish, Muffins, Breakfast Sandwiches, Coffee and other goodies. We picked up four donuts today - Samoa, Key Lime, Blueberry Cake, and Oreo, plus a huge crumb-cake square and a medium cup of Peanut Butter Banana milkshake iced coffee. Service was friendly and professional, the donuts are delicious, and my oh my was that coffee terrific. I'd say that Neil's spot on the Donut Trail was well deserved. read more

Absolutely one of my favorite donut spots in CT! I will solely go there for their donuts and coffee. They have other items such as sandwiches, muffins, & baked goods. A fun fact I like to always mention is that they have a HUGE variety of VEGAN donuts. They have specialty donuts (vary), filled donuts, great coffee rolls, & those classic donut flavors. As you can see throughout the past few years I managed to capture some (not all) of my visits to Neil's. They've always shown consistency in their items & have been around since 2001! This is their 1st location, I've yet been to their 2nd location in Middletown. If you know, you know to get there early before sell out. Most of my visits have been on the weekend, super busy but even the 2 times during the week there were lines. Kindly remember to be patient as their staff is working hard to make us happy. The ambiance gives mom & pop shop, with cozy vibes. read more
