Amazing chef salads. Love everything I've tried. Just wish they cooked the roast beef a little more but still very good.

Craving a beef on weck, all suggested Vinny's Deli in Wallingford Ct A Beef on Weck is a sandwich consisting of thinly sliced, rare roast beef, some horseradish sauce, a little au jus, served on a warmed and toasted bun, topped with caraway seeds amongst other spices. This is a sandwich that originated in Buffalo, New York, that I had the honor of eating on a regular basis when I worked in Buffalo. When this sandwich is prepared correctly, not too many types of sandwiches can top this. So expectations were high going to Vinny's Deli. And there it was on the menu, the all nighter # 54, in its glory, the beef on weck. The order was placed for two of them, as my friend Rick joined me for lunch. He never had one and was really looking forward to what he exactly was getting into. I also ordered storemade potato salad, and one of those famous oatmeal raisin cookies. I also had a lime ricky soda, and my friend had a root beer. These sodas were specially made for Vinny's and were presented so well. The total for this order of two sandwiches potato salad cookie and two sodas came to $38. I left a 15% tip. The food arrived, and let me tell you this beef on weck was simply amazing. Warm sliced roast beef that just melted in my mouth and pulled apart so easy, accompanied by just the right amount of horseradish sauce, on a slightly toasted and warmed bun. This was perfection. This was love. The potato salad which was store made also was delicious, and I liked it because it didn't have onions in it. This was on point. The two made for a store sodas were absolutely delicious. I loved that lime ricky, as it was a great choice. Now for the co-star... you must get the oatmeal raisin cookie for dessert. This was probably the best cookie of this nature I've ever had; so soft, so delicious, so made with love. Located on Center Street in Wallingford, Vinny's is easy to find, and parking is a breeze Seating is extremely limited. I think there were only four or five tables in there. Most were in there just to get the food and run, also known as takeout. This is a can't miss for sandwiches. I saw they had extensive other choices, but come for the star, the roast beef. I really enjoyed my visit here, it was local, the vibe was really cool and friendly, and the place was really clean. I noticed an ice cream store attached, which looked very inviting. I think I would stop there after having lunch here next time. Thanks to Vinny's, I really enjoyed my visit and I look forward to returning again in the near future. This was quite a haul coming from northern Connecticut down to Wallingford, but was worth every mile. I drove home with a smile on my face.

Vinny's was rated as a top deli in CT so I definitely wanted to try it. Finally found a day I could go and we ordered takeout for lunch, 2 different subs. Both were delicious. Wait time was not too bad and there's also some indoor seating. I would go back for lunch.

Ordered 3 roast beef double meat sandwiches on Kummleweck rolls. Ordered the All Nighter, the Ana V and a 3 way. I loved them all. The Kummleweck roll really is such a nice option I have never encountered before. Also grabbed an oatmeal raisin cookie and rice pudding. I'm coming back for sure for their lobster roll and also probably grab another roast beef sandwich - the Serenity. Super sweet friendly nice people working there. Cute ambiance. Viva Las Vinny !

I'm not often in the area, but I've been tempted to stop at Vinny's every time I drove by and saw the Elvis art and a sign boasting a Beef Monarchy. Eventually, some friends told me it was a good place and I made a point of dropping by for a recent lunch. Vinny's is mostly a sandwich shop, although I saw MANY cookies as well. There are a few tables inside and outside, but most people seemed to get takeout. The inside is comfortable and has some Elvis decor, but isn't trying to be fancy. Service was friendly and very efficient. They serviced a lot of customers quickly while I was there. I ordered a roast beef grinder called the #55 Ana V, with rare roast beef, bacon, lettuce, tomato and orange infused BBQ. I also ordered a side of au jus because I was curious. The roast beef was good-red and tender. The crusty grinder roll was very good. The orange BBQ flavor was about perfect. The other toppings were all good. I thought this was a very good sandwich. It was fun to in dip the au jus, but it wasn't necessary since the sandwich wasn't dry and already had flavor. I would probably skip it next time. I'm glad I finally visited. Five Stars

Vinnie's has been voted Best Deli by the Record Journal's Readers Choice awards for about 10 years in a row for very good reasons! They offer such a wide variety of sandwich combinations, most with names making local references, that it's difficult to decide which one to order. #2, The Fonzie is a favorite of mine: chicken cutlet, backn, lettuce, tomato and honey mustard. They also offer several seasonal specials, and now that it's fall, their Thanksgiving on a Roll was the reason for today's visit: Sliced Turkey Breast, stuffing, gravy and cranberry sauce on a hard roll. If you are craving something sweet, be sure to grab one of their freshly made huge chocolate chip cookies!

Vinny's Deli is a well know Italian deli in the town of Wallingford CT. They have a huge selection of sandwiches with your choice of roll or sub. Vinny's is know as the King of Roast Beef because cooks his own roast beef daily on the premises. I figured that I would order what he's known for, so I ordered a roast beef sub with american cheese, lettuce and tomato. I also got a side of warm au jus. Any great sandwich must have great bread. This delicious Italian bread sub was soft and fresh. The roast beef was cooked perfectly, and it was so tender. I think it was the best roast beef I ever eaten.Looking for good Italian deli, or a great roast beef sandwich, check out the king of roast beef Vinny's Deli.

"The Godfather" (sausage, mozzarella cheese & sauce)

Vinny's Deli is an Italian-style delicatessen that opened in Wallingford, Connecticut in 1982. It was founded by Vinny Iannuzzi. After graduating from Hamden High School, he went to Quinnipiac University and studied business before opening a liquor store in Wallingford in 1979. The store closed down two years later. Iannuzzi always loved business and looked to start a new venture. He worked in a lot of markets and restaurants while growing up. With help and support from his family, Iannuzzi opened his own deli in the center of Wallingford. Vinny's specialty is their roast beef, which is freshly cooked on the premises on a daily basis. This is why the deli is frequently called "The King of Roast Beef". Other popular items include their tuna and chicken salad sandwiches. The sandwich menu has grown considerably over the last few decades. Many sandwiches are developed from suggestions and ideas from the customers themselves. Even a Cajun Alligator sandwich appears on the menu during Mardi Gras season. In addition to their ever-evolving lineup of delicious deli sandwiches, Vinny's also serves salads and lobster rolls. My family and I have visited Vinny's a number of times over the years. They have some of the best deli sandwiches that you can find in the area. On our most recent visit, we stopped to pick up some subs to take with us on a family outing. I ordered the "Chuck's Baseball Championship" (roast beef, bacon, cheddar, lettuce, tomato & ranch dressing), my wife ordered "The Fonzi" (chicken cutlet, bacon, lettuce, tomato & honey mustard), and our son ordered "The Godfather" (sausage, mozzarella cheese & sauce). The sub rolls tasted so chewy and fresh and the ingredients were all high quality. No one was disappointed with their sandwiches at all. We'll keep coming back to Vinny's for years to come.

Amazing hot buttery lobster roll (this is half)

Hidden gem in CT! I'm not usually in Wallingford but my in laws said this is the BEST place for roast beef sandwiches and lobster rolls. I was skeptical at first because those are two completely different things but omg Vinny's is absolutely amazing! I shared a hot lobster roll and hot roast beef sandwich and each were absolutely phenomenal. The lobster roll tasted super fresh and was given generous pieces of lobster! The roll was delicious and buttery-just what you need for the perfect lobster roll. But wait...The roast beef sandwich! Oh man that was amazing. I got a hot roast beef sandwich with provolone and au jus and it legit just melts in your mouth! Hands down the best sandwich I ever had. I wish they had more outdoor seating because you can literally spend an entire afternoon here indulging. I even got their chocolate chip cookie (sadly also shared with my husband) and it was delicious. I cannot wait to go back! Check this place out!

Service was OK. I think because I tipped at the time of the order the food was brought to the table. The woman was on the phone when we got there, so we waited a little but it was ok. It was all just ok. The pizza we ordered was burnt and not the good kind of char you expect from a brick oven (and as someone who loves Pepe's, I hope I know the difference). Still, we ate it because we had already paid, and we didn't have time to go anywhere else. The salad was just okay, though I will say the ranch dressing tasted homemade, which was a nice touch. The bacon was stale The biggest downside was the cleanliness. The restaurant was dusty and dirty. There was a steady stream of people coming in and out for takeout orders the whole time we were there, which makes me wonder if our experience was just a fluke, or if the regulars simply like it that way. As we were leaving, my son turned to me and said, "Mom, I thought you picked the place with the best pizza." I laughed because he was right, this time, the reviews were wrong, for us at least. Would I order again? Probably not. But the atmosphere and steady business made me curious enough to maybe give it another shot, just with very lower expectations. And for take out.
