Wow!!!!! Who'd of thunk that the pizza would be so amazing from a deli in the middle of nowhere. Suzanna from Newtown turned me onto this place. Finally made it here today 10.21.20 The prices are reasonable. The place is very clean. They have the hand sanitizer out for your use. Masks are enforced. The staff was so nice. I think i met the owner John i believe. Or one of the owners. Think he said he's a butcher by trade. They had a nice small showcase of meats that they'll cut to order for you. They have specials Thursday Friday Saturday evenings. Deli sandwiches & grinders. Much to choose from. Getting back to the pizza. Ordered a tomato pie with bacon & garlic. It was good but I also want sauce on my pizzas. Only tomatoes bacon cheese and garlic on this one. The clear winner by a landslide is their sausage & cheese pizza. Perfectly cooked. The flavor of the sauce was incredible. I was surprised. It was delicious. The sausage was also tasty. Keep doing what you're doing because you're doing it right. read more

Talk about an obscure location! I had been reading people's comments about just how good this place was so when I was out that way I decided to stop in. It was about 11:30 and the parking lot was full - obviously a good sign. They are taking good precautions around COVID and the place was really spotless. There is a menu board with their specials and they had a paper menu with all of their delicious sandwiches. I opted for the Turkey Ruben. What a sandwich! It was grilled with rye bread that had been buttered and it was a gigantic sandwich. The pickles were good too. I took a menu so I could call ahead and expedite my next sandwich. I drive by Trackside all the time. I don't know why, but I thought it was more of a convenience store. I finally cleared that up when I went in one Sunday morning. It's a cute little deli with a bunch of seating where you can eat, and some coolers with various drinks. They sell fresh baked goods as well. I ordered a sausage egg and cheese breakfast sandwich on a soft roll. My husband ordered bacon egg and cheese on a hard roll. We also got a side of corned beef hash to share. My sandwich was definitely big enough for two people to share. It was a big roll, two eggs, two sausage patties. It was so good, but I wasn't able to finish it. My husband's sandwich was big but didn't have as much of the layering of the bacon, the sausage sandwich just looked heartier since sausage patties are so thick. The corned beef hash was the superstar of the meal. For all of the places that have "homemade" corned beef hash, I'm usually not impressed. This corned beef was fresh, right ratio of meat to potatoes, and perfectly cooked. I definitely can't wait to go back again for that, and to try some of the other breakfast and lunch menu items. If I had to give this review a year ago, it would be five stars, since me and several of my coworkers frequently ate there all last year. As trackside was slowly going out of business and being understaffed, the service was not at its best, and the food was rushed. Today, I saw the owner working on reopening trackside, when a dog was walking by itself along the road in front of trackside. I pulled over to get the neighbors dog away from the road, when strangely enough, the owner yelled at me and gave an unbelievably rude attitude for helping the neighbors. There was nobody more excited for trackside to return than me, but his surprisingly rude and angry attitude, while cussing me out, reflects poorly on his business, especially before his grand opening. If his food is as bad as his attitude was, we will not be returning. Hopefully it stays closed. read more

Lots to try here, breakfast, dinner and pizza. Tried breakfast here, everything was standard breakfast, nothing really stood out. Did I have everything on the menu, no. One bad thing, not a fan of the French toast at all, no flavor and when cut into, it was white bread through and through, nothing soaked in. It was funky and bad. Dinners here during the week are really cool. Keep in mind it's just a deli and not lots of seating. I had the prime rib with garlic mashed and veg. All were really good at a reasonable price and meals are available to go. I had pizza here twice now cuz I was impressed the first time. Thin crust with pepperoni, was really good . Went back for just a cheese, and I'm seeing some things and would caution the bussiness. There is a difference in thin crust as a style of pizza versus making the biggest profit using the least ingredients . Cheese was sparse as well as sauce. It's a damn shame this place doesn't have a separate pizza place that operates at night because in my opinion this place and Mondo have the best pizza in Middletown/Middlefield/Meriden area. Haven't had a bad sandwich yet either. Call ahead for lunch though, otherwise you'll be facing a pretty decent crowd, can get quite busy. read more

"I'll find it" I've been dying for a good Philly Cheesesteak sandwich. I did a search of where I could get one near Meriden, Ct. and Trackside Deli was on the list. Never heard of it so I thought, "Why not?" Plugged it into the gps on my phone and off I went. About 3/4 the way there my gps lost signal. I was on a side street in the middle of no where. I should have turned back at that point, but I was determined to get my sandwich. The gps kicked on and off, but I managed to get there. I knew I'd be late getting back to work on my lunch break but I had to have it. This deli that appears to be in the middle of no where has quite the following. There were a lot of people enjoying there lunch in the dining area and locals being greeted by the staff. I ordered a Philly Cheesesteak with mushrooms, peppers, onions, and of course cheese. I also ordered a cream of mushroom soup. Believe me, it was worth getting back to work late. The sandwich was delicious and satified my craving. The soup was ok, but I didn't care. I haven't been here in years. I used to go as a kid when it was more of a corner store than a deli. I got a large Philly cheesesteak grinder for 9 dollars, bag of chips and a can of soda. The service was nice and friendly. Everyone seemed to know everyone that walked in. The grinder was really good. Only downside was having to buy a can of soda instead of fountain soda. Breaking News: Middlefield has businesses in it! I've never seen such a big list of breakfast meats. Bacon, sausage, ham, corned beef, pastrami, kielbasa... I'm sure I'm forgetting at least a few. Places like this remind me of my younger days, when mornings consisted of a coffee, a newspaper, a BEC on a hard roll, and a place to sit down and just chill for a bit. Sadly, life is too busy for any of that anymore, but boy was I glad my jobsite was just a few steps away from here the other day. Had me a bangin' BEC, and later that day, a nice ham and cheese sandwich. Cheap sodas and drinks, hot coffee, ample seating with a TV, and really nice people at the counter. It's nice to hear phrases like "What can I get for ya there, sir?" and "Alright, you have yourself a blessed day!" as opposed to "Whatchu want?" and "cya." Slow life down here. read more

This deli services the small town of Rockfall, CT, which is just outside of Middletown. They carry all the basic items a small town deli should; cold cuts, beverages, cooking ingredients, candy, lotto tickets. I come here for the daily lunch specials. Foot-long hot dogs on Monday is the best special as they get locally produced dogs, and have a wide variety of toppings. I don't know where to begin. This is my go-to for lunch if I get hungry from 12 o'clock to three. The menu items are a variety of delicious choices. My personal favorite would be the trackside dog and their buffalo chicken salad sandwich. My wife especially loves the macaroni salad, which she will eat on the weekly basis. The service from the workers is always great and the chef makes excellent food consistently and quickly and with a smile on his face every time. The first time I stopped into this close and convent restaurant it had a welcoming atmosphere and the employees greeted me with a smile. Especially an employee named Nate, he took my order which was a chicken cutlet, and which I might add was one of the best grinders I've ever had.
