The vibe is lively, there is a ton of natural light and the bright yellow walls and art is just great. Furthermore, The staff is so considerate and nice. Nice ambiance if you are able to get a table. We typically just grab food to go when we are in route to an event or whatever. For me, coffee is the first and most important item a restaurant coffee shop needs to get right, and Brew Bakers nails it. I liked it so much I asked about the beans, and they use a local, family owned roaster and they source their coffee daily. I had not been back to Middletown for some time, but remembered how good the food was at this family owned and run restaurant. I had the Bratwurst with homemade sauerkraut and potato salad and it was perfect. The soup of the day was bean and bacon, and it was chock full of bacon and fresh vegetables - perfect for a winter day. I have been dining at Brew Bakers for a while now. Excellent menu and service. While prices have gone up recently, that is happening everywhere. Brew Bakers is one of the few places I eat regularly because the higher price is genuinely worth paying. Breakfast sandwiches and most of their menu are well prepared and served as generous portions. Food quality, preparation and service is great. Daily specials are slightly more reasonable priced. The bagels here come in a variety of different varieties and are all baked fresh. I usually get their egg or plain bagels. I love how their bagels are crisp on tbd outside, but nice and chewy inside. They apply the cream cheese well, too. They have indoor and outdoor seating here, which is nice. You can eat outside under their umbrellas facing Main Street or at their tables in Middletown Plaza. I don't know why some reviewers think it expensive when it is less than what some big coffee chains would charge for the same thing. This popular place gets BUSY and the service is sometimes correspondingly slower, but I am ALWAYS happy with the food and the coffee. You can look at my pictures of the menus to see the pricing. One delivery I had for DoorDash ordered a Brew Boilermaker and I was like, "wow! What's that?!" It is Guinness marinated steak, roasted potato, caramelized onions, cheddar cheese, and horseradish sauce in a garlic and herb wrap. What?!?! I had to try it! Got it without the onions since I am not a fan of those, it did not disappoint! It was so packed with steak and potatoes that I saved the other half for my lunch. If you stay, which I strongly suggest, you will be given a number to place on your table. You give your name at the counter, that will be called when your drink has been made. An employee will bring your meal to you. While you wait you can sit by the stove to keep warm in the colder months, or enjoy the art that is displayed all around the restaurant. While I will highly recommend any of their bagels with the chive cream cheese, there are so many more exciting things that you could try. The wraps are huge and filling. My favorite is the Tijuana it's stuffed with pulled pork, sweet potato hash, red peppers, corn, onions and cheddar. A close second is the Brew Boilermaker with Guinness marinated steak, roasted potato, caramelized onions, cheddar cheese and horseradish sauce. Another option would be the omelet sandwiches. Carb conscious? Ask for the bread on the side. If you're not a morning person, don't worry, they do lunch too. There is something for everyone, ranging from salads and paninis to burgers and an Austrian Plate. Don't be afraid to bring the kids here. They are kid friendly. It is easy to have a cafe get lost in the business overload of Main Street but this is one to look out for. We have now gotten large take-out breakfast orders twice and been very pleased with both the quality and quantity of the food as well as the attention to detail by the staff. In both large orders, there were many with accommodations and revisions to standard sandwiches and wraps and each one was acknowledged and respected, which is not easy to come by no matter where you go. We were very pleased with this attention to detail. The food was also good and servings were large. Many of the wraps were big enough to split into two meals, in my opinion. Prices are a little high but for quality and size of portions, again, seems pretty fair. Ordering online was easy and pick-up was, as well. Highly recommend the corned beef and boilermaker wraps! I don't normally do this but I am giving a bad review of a good restaurant. The interior is adorable. Lots of color and artwork, but the menu is a bit difficult to read as it's located on the back wall with smaller type font. The exterior has cute tables to sit at for eating outside. All in all the environment makes this place great. Parking makes the location a nightmare. You have to pay and park on a diagonal, plus back out into traffic to leave. I recognize that this is an unavoidable part of being a restaurant in downtown Middletown but it still makes the experience negative. The wrap I ordered was a delicious spinach ricotta, but the veggies weren't cut up. Each bite made all the ingredients come pouring out and it just wasn't put together well. I'm impressed by how it tasted, but it was tiny and not worth the money. No sides or accents like a pickle. I also grabbed a Diet Coke, which was $2.50 and not worth the money. My wife and I, along with our two young children stopped here for a quick lunch after a raining day playing at kid city the children's museum right down the street.
