We stopped in because we were starving and short on time before heading to our nearby destination. I had picked this place because they had the highest reviews in the area, and I even told my son that on the way in. Service was OK. I think because I tipped at the time of the order the food was brought to the table. The woman was on the phone when we got there, so we waited a little but it was ok. It was all just ok. The pizza we ordered was burnt and not the good kind of char you expect from a brick oven (and as someone who loves Pepe's, I hope I know the difference). Still, we ate it because we had already paid, and we didn't have time to go anywhere else. The salad was just okay, though I will say the ranch dressing tasted homemade, which was a nice touch. The bacon was stale The biggest downside was the cleanliness. The restaurant was dusty and dirty. There was a steady stream of people coming in and out for takeout orders the whole time we were there, which makes me wonder if our experience was just a fluke, or if the regulars simply like it that way. As we were leaving, my son turned to me and said, "Mom, I thought you picked the place with the best pizza." I laughed because he was right, this time, the reviews were wrong, for us at least. Would I order again? Probably not. But the atmosphere and steady business made me curious enough to maybe give it another shot, just with very lower expectations. And for take out. read more

really excited to try this place after seeing they sell slices, a rare sight in connecticut! i ordered a bbq chicken slice and a bacon/onion slice which i enjoyed! i did order their pork belly and calamari and it smelt veryyyy fishy which was a little off for me. the pork was great and crunchy but the calamari was a bit chewy, no flavor, but the marinara sauce helped but still disappointing for $11. we also got their egg rolantini and it was too bad but not my favorite. i would definitely come back to try the pizza again and sandwiches. read more

I was recently driving through the Wallingford area and noticed Anthony's near perfect 5 Star score. I phoned in an order for a medium Cheese Pizza and it was ready on time. Service was friendly. The pizza was good, but I can't say I'm in the 5 Star camp for Anthony's. The strength was the thin crust. I'd call it more New York tavern style than New Haven. It was super thin, but very sturdy. WOW...the first words that come to mind when I think about Anthony's Pizzeria and Deli. Anthony's serves up some of the best pizza I've had in a very long time. It's definitely the best pizza in the Wallingford area and top 5 for in CT. It's delicious and has the kind of vibes that bring nostalgia. In addition to the pizza, they offer a bunches of sandwiches, pastas, salads, etc. It's mostly a takeout place but they also have limited indoor seating. The people who work there are very nice. Anthony's Pizzeria and Deli is a small restaurant that use their Italian heritage to replicate classic recipes and apply a modern-day twist. They also sell craft pizza, poke bowls, craft sandwiches and craft salads. My kids and I ordered a medium Bacon and half Cheese pizza. The pizza was very delicious, crispy and had great flavors. The only thing I would say is that the pizza was a bit greasy but all in all, they serve great pizza. Furthermore, they have a case refrigerator with all deserts that look incredible and fresh. The customer service was on point and they really make their customers feel welcomed. The staff are family and they take pride with the work they do. I ordered two grinders off of DoorDash. I have never been at this restaurant before, but took a chance. I can't speak to the restaurant, but I was pleasantly surprised by how good the grinders were. My eggplant Parmesan grinder was delicious. The bread tasted fresh and homemade. Unsure if it is homemade, but definitely fresh. The eggplant was cooked perfectly and just enough sauce. I was very happy as I'm usually disappointed with restaurant's, eggplant. My husband ate the tuna grinder and said it was very good. I was disappointed because I ordered shoe string fries and I got french fries. Unsure if they actually sell shoe string fries, but the french fries I got were actually really delicious and flavorful so I wasn't too disappointed. The salad I got I would say was 5 stars in taste but unfortunately the size for the price is my issue. 16 dollars for a small salad with grilled chicken added is just too much in my opinion. I wouldn't mind paying that for a large portion but not the small. But I'm still giving 4 stars because it was delicious and ingredients were fresh and even the chicken was very tasty. This is their second location, the original being in Cheshire. I've stopped in this location a few time but haven't written about it until now. Ermel, the owner, it usually here and is just such a great person and restauranteur. The pizza is excellent. The sandwiches and salads, made fresh, are also very good. The freshly baked cookies and frozen desserts round off a complete selection. Oh, yeah. He bakes fresh rolls and bread for sale each day, too! To came to CT to visit my brother, owner of New England Cider Company. While sipping on the hard cider we decided to order some pizza. We ordered a large cheese pizza and had my mom pick it up. I only wish we bought more as we devoured the entire pizza the location is in a small spot with enough parking in the back. Inside the pizza place was nowhere to really sit. One of my family's go-to places for easy, delicious takeout. You can order online (HUGE plus), and their menu is diverse enough to have something for everyone, but not so diverse that you can't tell what their deal is (like those pizza places that randomly sell quesadillas or hot dogs). We have tried a lot of the offerings - their pizza is totally legit. Not life changing but highly decent. Their stuffed breads are really, really good and a huge value. One can feed two grown men easily. The pasta dinners are great - but don't have high expectations for the side salad, it's a rather sad smattering of lettuce leaves and a couple of olives. Personally I have a hard time ordering anything other than the Bobcat as a panini- it'a a 10/10 every time. Bottom line - this place hits the mark on convenience, price, and taste. They have obviously been sourcing some exceptionally fine cheeses and very fresh produce used in their toppings. Tasteful combinations of ingredients result in unmatched flavor sensations. My family agree that when it is time for pizza we head right back to Anthony's time and again.
