Went for a birthday dinner, place is smaller than I thought, but we went on a Tuesday night and had no problems with seating. My family loves New Haven style pizza so we had to try the classic cheese. Sauce was delicious, but not as much char and it was much doughier. Overall still a decent pizza compared to many other places. I liked my chipotle chicken wrap, lots of flavors especially with the sauce that's in it, fries were super thin and crispy. Never a bad meal! Staff is always friendly. Definitely a go to for happy hour/ dinner or small party. Went there after our funeral service and the seating was plentiful and we came in with 15+ people. The restaurant was still open for business as well. Chris' food is always made consistently and definitely delicious every time! A few things we ate were bacon and onion, pizza and half mozzarella cooked to perfection, buffalo chicken egg rolls those are always a staple go to when we go there or the steak and cheese. We had some fried pickles, some potato balls and some bagel bites Don't be fooled....Those are very light and fluffy and delicious but they're not small! We also had an antipasto salad which in itself is an entire meal. It was enormous! It was made with all fresh cold, cuts, and vegetables highly recommend. Lastly the drinks are always top notch. We opted to try 2 smalls. They are a good size. And they were delicious!! We git a pepperoni and a chicken, bacon, ranch. Crust was thin, crisp, and tasty. There was a good amount of toppings. My 800th Yelp review is for Christos Restaurant & Bar in Wallingford, CT. Christos has been on my radar for a long time now, especially since I gave 5 Star reviews to the other two brothers of the "3 Kings of Pizza" in the state of Connecticut -- Fuoco Apizza in Cheshire and Luna Wood Fired Pizza in Naugatuck. But I have to admit, I was a bit disappointed in my visit today to Christos. I really wanted to try the Detroit style pizza, so that's what I ordered today. My wife went with a chicken parm dinner. The disclaimer to this review is, I've never had a Detroit style pie before. It's OK, but not "life changing", as other reviewers have stated. Very bready, only a strip of sauce on top. Flavorless, really not that exciting. I honestly wish I had ordered a "regular" pizza to gauge the quality of pizza served at Christos. I really don't think my 3 Star rating today reflects the pizza they make at Christos, a return visit is definitely in order. When ? Hard to say, because I live over 45 miles away from Wallingford. To make matters worse, my wife was underwhelmed with her chicken parm. It was dry & bland. BUT, everything else we had today was excellent -- from her Black Cherry Margarita, to the Potato Ball app, and also the desserts (they were outstanding). Came here for dinner with a party of 10 before the Trail of Terror. We ordered the Pink Drink (coconut puree with dragonfruit, new Amsterdam and cran -mango juice), a Tajin Margarita and a Witch's potion specialty. The drinks were (4/5). We started off with fried zucchini and fried pickles, potato balls, buffalo chicken and Philly cheesesteak eggrolls. Everything was very good, however the eggrolls were a bit greasy. Pickled pizza, a honey boo boo and a Burrata pizza were shared amongst the table. All pizzas were very delicious, but again, greasy. The Mississippi mud pie was very decadent and chocolatey. First time here, came on a Thursday night with friends. Pretty steady flow of people but not crazy busy. We were able to get seated fairly quickly. There's a parking lot but a little small. We lucked out that someone was pulling out so I guess good timing. The wait staff was friendly and kept checking to see if we needed anything. I can't speak on the regular pizza because I had to get gluten free so I ordered the cauliflower crust with pepperoni and sausage and omg possibly one of the best cauliflower pizzas I've had. With all the flavors in the toppings/sauce/cheese I honestly couldn't even tell it was cauliflower crust. It just tasted like a thin crust. Don't be alarmed that although the edges look burnt the bottom was all good. Then I tried the inside of the fried burrata since I couldn't eat the bread crumbs and omg the cheese just melts In your mouth. Well I have to say I've successfully completed the trio of trying the 3 kings of pizza. Christos did not disappoint! I will say each one of the Brother"s pizza is a little different. Christos stands out of the three as best toppings, they really load it up! I ordered the special and added meatballs, excellent! Only complaint is I wish it was a little more well done, but they were busy so completely understandable. Really nice looking restaurant, not like your typical pizza spot. We have had the waitress Teagan about 5 times and she is so sweet and always incredibly accommodating and kind! We finally tried the pizza tonight and omg it was incredible! I've been here before and I really liked the pizza. This time we were seated in the bar area up against the window and as people were standing between us and the bar their hair was practically falling into our food because there's just not enough space. That was really the least bothersome of the negative aspects we encountered, though. To summarize, our waitress really put a damper on our experience there. Her flat demeanor and facial expressions give the vibe that she does not enjoy her job at Christos. I ordered tea with milk on the side and she brings half and half without a word as if it's the same thing. My tea sat for quite a while while I waited for her to return and when she finally did I had to ask for milk. She acted like she didn't know if she could find any. I thought to myself why didn't she say that when I specifically ordered the milk? She came back quite a while later with the most miniature pitcher of milk I have ever seen and she told me that was all they had. I would soon discover that what was in that tiny pitcher was actually milk that had gone bad, because when I poured it into my tea it was all curdled. She came into the room quite a while after that occurred and I waved to her to let her know I needed attention. She saw me, but went to a nearby table and then left the room again. She was obviously overwhelmed with her tables. I sat there with that rancid cup of tea in front of me for way too long. When she finally did come back, I explained what happened to her and she was not phased in the least and actually appeared put out me telling her. She actually offered me another cup of tea knowing there was no more milk and that's how I drink it. I told her I do use half and half in coffee so I would have that instead. She thought she needed to reiterate to me that they only had half and half.....So confusing. All I can say is she just wasn't listening to what I was saying I guess. The few times she did come to our table, rather than just grabbing it and bringing it back with her to the kitchen like most servers do. The only time she took anything away from our table was after we were completely done eating and she thought she needed to actually ask us to take away the dirty dishes and trash. As if it's not something she should just have done once we said we were finished. It's a shame because my friend and I are huge Pizza fans and we try to hit all the places on Dave portnoy's list. We were really excited to go there but our experience was totally blown because of the poor service. And by the way the pizza and crust was very good. We got the Rustica which featured sweet sausage, roasted red peppers, mushrooms and meatballs. Personally, I think I've decided I like simpler pizzas... maybe one or two toppings the best. Christos is a solid pizza place though. It's unfortunate that this rating can't be any higher than the lowest experience we had and that's all due to the service. read more

Got a chance to check out Christos after watching Dave's vist. We decided to wait a bit after the episode to allow the hype to die down. We started with the bomb sticks without powdered sugar (hey I'm a sauce only fried dough gal) they were pretty good but my fiancé wished we had the sugar. Next time! I like to get some greens in with my pizza so ordered a garden salad which was great. Nice and fresh and ample amount. My fiancé had his normal plain Jane cheese pie and I opted for the honey boo boo. I'm telling you if you haven't had honey on pepperoni pizza you are missing out. Pizza was great. Nice char to it! We were lured to Christos by their pickle pie and we have no regrets! First off, this is a classic New Haven style pizza. Thin and holds its own. This is definitely a spot to secure on a great New Haven pie list. The pickle pizza is one of the best I've had. The pickles are thin and flavorful. I stopped in tonight and ordered a tomato pie, but I also wanted to try the white clam pizza. The tomato pie was delicious. However, the clam pie was absolutely not edible, it was horrible. I let the waitress know that we were unhappy with the clam pie as it was salty over heavy herbs the bottom was completely burnt, and it was soggy. The waitress should've offered to take it off the bill or let us order something else. However, she disregarded our concern and did not apologize or address it. Also, on a sidenote, three of the people at our table ordered fountain drinks which were four dollars each totaling $12. The waitress could've offered to bring over a bottle of soda for $4.50. I have been here countless times over the past 4 years. just opened up my phone to get their phone number for an order and noticed only 3.7 stars. This is top five Pizza in Connecticut. It's very consistent. There are three brothers that each own Their Own place, Christos is the best, and has a serious menu of other food, including burgers and sandwiches. I can't recommend the pizza enough. It's New Haven pizza, slightly charred, the toppings are fresh and locally sourced. The Detroit pizza is also impeccable for those who like Sicilian with sauce on the top. On a bad day, this place may own a 4.5, on average, their pizza is 4.8 to 5. They also do a brisk takeout business, parking is a bit tight here, but they have a guy outside, helping to do it for patrons. I've done take-out from here about a dozen times now. As a big apizza lover, I'm going to go ahead and put these guys in the top 10 pizza spots in CT. They're very consistent and use great ingredients. The sauce is simple but flavorful. The crust is always done about to perfection. The cheese is of high quality. Toppings fresh and well distributed. The appetizers I've tried so far were all great and of course they serve the requisite Foxon Park soda. Having only done take-out, I cannot speak to the table service but the counter service is always very pleasant and helpful. The timing is usually accurate too. It's always nice to walk in to a pizza just coming out of the oven. I look forward to eating in here at some point. The dining and bar areas seem welcoming. A spontaneous Friday night dinner with friends led us to Christo's after visiting Yellow King Brews. It was my first time to Christo's and I was glad that the AC was on because it was so hot and humid outside. You would have never known in the restaurant and it made eating so nice and comfortable. We ordered so many things! Philly Egg Rolls, Pickle Pizza, Buffalo Chicken Pizza, Brussel Sprout Pizza and a perfect Italian Sub. All of it was great! The one thing that really sticks out to me is that their Fried Pickle Chips were some of the best I have ever head. Thin, crisp and perfectly seasoned! This is THE spot for Fried Pickle Chips. Christos has been on my radar because it's a beloved New Haven style pizza place in the CT Food Blogger Community. I picked up a large sausage pizza while driving on the Merritt Parkway toward home in Newington. It's pretty close to Route 15, which makes it perfect for a drive by. The pizza was ready when I arrived and still hot. I ate a couple slices in my car, because that's how I do it when I'm judging the thin crust places my friends recommend. It was definitely a very good New Haven style pizza. The crust was right, with intermittent spots of char on the very thin crust. The red sauce was good simple. I imagine just San Marzano style tomato, salt and light seasoning. The cheese and sausage were both good. I can't say it was in my very top tier of New Haven pizza places, but it's just a half step away. I love christos! The bar holds about 10 people. It is nicely separated with Hightops on the bar side and normal dining seating in the other room. I came here recently on a whim for some pizza. It was delicious! I have also had the famous potato balls (pictured). I have actually returned to christos several times in the last few weeks, and I remain equally impressed each time. I wish I had a photo of the pizza, but just take my word for it....it's great! I have yet to sit in the dining room, but the bar service has been great! This is a great local spot. Christos' pizza was pretty good; the char was excellent, the cheese pull was quite good, and the sausage was spot on delicious, plus they didn't skimp on the toppings either. As a matter of fact, they threw on a healthy amount unlike Luna (who's pie's are good, but extremely light on the toppings). The only criticism I have for Christos is the crust and under-carriage were really greasy.
