There were a few tables to eat, but we took our meal to-go. Frankies started to get busy quick after we ordered since it was nearing lunch hour on a Sunday. My husband has had Frankies before at another location, looking forward to getting some Chicken Wings--unfortunately, they were out and he pivoted his choice for a Fried Chicken Sandwich with lettuce, tomato, onion, and mayo. I got a Grilled Chicken Sandwich with lettuce, tomato, and provolone cheese. We also got Curly Fries and Waffle Fries. The menu is very simple with hot dogs, hamburgers, sandwiches, fried seafood like clam strips or shrimp. There were even lobster rolls and every kind of fry; steak, curly, and waffle! Our food was prepared quickly and held up well since it was to-go. My grilled chicken sandwich was juicy and waffle fries were fine. This Frankies does close early on Sundays at 4:00pm. We will be back at Frankies again, hopefully my husband will get his Chicken Wings next time.

They don't hold back loading it up with the cereal and it had such a good taste, I've never finished a milkshake so fast! I also got their loaded waffle fries were which great too! I love that frankie's has condiment/vegetable bar so you can really custom everything your order to your liking. Looking forward to coming back! Glenwood Drive-In is a historic family restaurant that opened in Hamden, Connecticut in 1955. It…read morewas founded by Rocky Stone. The property was originally a small drive-in that operated under a different name. Stone purchased the drive-in after working as a Tip-Top salesman and deliveryman. He renamed it "Glenwood" and expanded the menu, hours and the physical building. After Stone passed away in 1960, his son Frank "Wayne" Stone took it over and he continues to run it today. In the early days, the Glenwood had a walk-up service window similar to establishments such as Dairy Queen. Over the years, Wayne remodeled the interior and added an indoor seating area. The menu consists of staples such as footlongs, chili dogs, cheeseburgers, clam strips, lobster rolls, soft shell crab, fries, onion rings, and much more! Although the establishment is no longer a traditional drive-in restaurant, the Glenwood still hosts classic car "Cruise Nights" every Wednesday during the warmer months. In 1985, Wayne's daughter opened "Kelly's Cone Connection": an adjoining ice cream parlor business that is connected to the Glenwood. Although both businesses share the same space, they operate as separate entities. Kelly makes all of her own ice cream, hot fudge, waffle cones, ice cream pies and birthday cakes in house. Customers can expect to choose from about 35 different flavors on any given day. My family and I recently stopped for dinner at Glenwood Drive-In. Growing up in the area, I visited the Glenwood several times throughout my childhood. I also frequently accompanied my father to "Cruise Nights" when he still owned a 1971 Triumph TR6. On this outing, we ordered a variety of menu items including a "Chili Cheese Dog", "Footlong", "Chicken Fingers w/ Fries", and "Fried Shrimp w/ Fries". There's something about those classic menu staples that just really hit the spot. Afterwards, we headed through the adjoining doorway to Kelly's Cone Connection for dessert. It was a special occasion because the ice cream parlor was hosting a meet & greet with Spider-Man himself. The event coincided with the release of a new monthly special called the "Spidey-Sundae" (Firework 250 Poprock ice cream w/ golden Oreos, a frosting and sprinkle rim w/ a cotton candy web, poprocks, & a Spider-Man ring). My sons both had a blast meeting Spider-Man and eating his special ice cream treat. I tried a different monthly special: the "New England Clam Chowder" (sweet cream salted caramel ice cream w/ white chocolate "clams", dried mint, vanilla wafers, white chocolate shell). The presentation was immaculate and the flavor combo was simply divine! If you're looking for classic American drive-in food along with some fantastic ice cream, then head to Glenwood Drive-In and Kelly's Cone Connection!

Cash only, cash only, cash only!…read more But there is an ATM on site Stopped in for lunch with a friend of mine on this Friday afternoon, the place was definitely steady with people dining in, takeout, and the at picnic tables outside This was a beautiful day and we decided we would be sitting at the picnic tables outside The order was placed for two hotdog one with mustard, onion, and sauce, and the other hotdog with mustard and relish. I ordered a Pepsi soft drink, and my friend ordered the lemonade iced tea. About 10 minutes later, our order arrived, and we took the hotdog and drinks outside to the picnic tables The picnic tables could've been a little bit cleaner, but they were passable. After all, this is a lunch stop, and a hotdog joint, and a dive. One bite into that foot-long hotdog, and it was hot dog heaven. The toasted buttered England style hotdog roll, just was grilled to perfection. The hotdog had a nice SNAP to it with just nice a little bit spicy kick to the dog, I loved the mustard and the minced onions. But let's talk about that sauce. I could taste some cinnamon in it, there probably was chocolate in it also, but this was, in my opinion, the best meat sauce in Connecticut. My friend concurred that his hot dog was delicious. However, he wished he ordered the minced onions to go with it after seeing the onions on my hotdog. So... Let's go for round two! We had another foot-long hotdog I had one with mustard, onion, and sauce. My friend had one with mustard relish, and onion on it and we demolished them. I had a Pepsi drink and it was nice and cold and fresh. It was a bottle of lemonade iced tea, and it was consistent with what's usually in a bottle drink This is a great stop on the way to or from the beach, and Lake Beseck Conveniently located, and parking is a breeze outback around the side. There is an outside ice cream window along with an ice cream counter inside to the right of the entrance. The ice cream and milkshakes looked delicious. I wish I had stopped and took the time to order one. Definitely next time. To say these are the best hotdog in Connecticut would be a pretty fair statement. If not, these are a top five stop for hotdog.

Today, a sunny early Spring morning, I decided to escape the dark recesses of my humble abode and finally make the trip to Middlefield. I am glad I did. Guida's has a definite 50s diner vibe. The fries were hot right from the oil and the 1/4 lb burger was cooked perfectly. Today, I opted for a strawberry shake and was pleased to find it not cloyingly sweet from too much syrup. Delish! The prices were comparable for other like establishments. Note: They only accept cash, but have an ATM for customer convenience.
