    Pumpkin Cheesecake Cupcake

If you are looking for something sweet, Mr. D's is the place to be. We were checking out the shops in the Wallingford Center and popped in to Mr. D's just to look. Well, we just HAD to get a few things. Mr. D's has candy, ice cream, cakes, chocolates, bubble tea and much more. We were sold on the cupcakes and they were so delicious. We got the Lemon Raspberry Cupcakes, Toffee Cupcake, I Love You Cupcake and Pumpkin Cheesecake Cupcake. These cupcakes were packed with flavor with fillings and candy baked in. The Lemon Raspberry Cupcake was a lemon cake with raspberry filling and a pipette of more raspberry. The Toffee Cupcake had toffee bits baked into the cake and topped with toffee and butterscotch drizzle. The I Love You Cupcake had cheesecake baked into a red velvet cake. The Pumpkin Cheesecake was my favorite, cheesecake baked into the cake, topped with cream cheese frosting. Oh, and the cheesecake had chocolate chips, yum! The staff was so friendly too. We asked about many of the cupcake flavors in their case since these weren't basic vanilla or chocolate. The shop is very spacious. There are tables and chairs to enjoy ice cream and other treats. There is a parking lot out front, but it gets busy. Mr. D's is in the perfect location to be the go-to dessert spot after a meal from the many restaurants near by.

Putting the idion "kid in a candy shop" literally. This shop located in the main square of the beautiful town of Wallingford is a great stop. Decorated like a traditional candy shop, I stopped in for an oreo cheesecake cupcake post-lunch. The cake itself was moist and the blend of creamsheese and oreos made for a delicious, but not overbearing frosting! A perfect stop for dessert!

Much more limited selection of candy since Covid, but we go there for the cupcakes! They are always fresh and always delicious. On this visit we got a new one, peanut butter and fluff- so good. Another new one for us was a chocolate raspberry with the compote in a tube you squeeze into the center of the cupcake yourself. New pic posted with all the cupcakes we got.

The candy man, indeed! Kids of all ages, Goobers, Nerds, and Airheads will find a haven of sweet confection in this all around sugary shop! Bins and bins of colorful candies, jellybeans and chocolate covered delights line the walls, while jars of "penny" candy encircle the whimsical carousel horse. (I'm dating myself because "back in my day" those Squirrels, Bats, Mary Janes, Wax Bottles, Lollipops, Licorice whips, etc. were a mere copper!) You name it, they have it, but I'm not sure about those Whatchamacallits! Candy and novelty sweets galore, they have Mounds of chocolate and it won't cost you 100 Grand. But not just candy, Mr. D's offers ice cream too if you're mood is leaning towards the Milky Way. Specialty cupcakes and cookies fill the cases by the cashier so don't be shy, order your preference with Zero guilt! The selection is Good & Plenty! They also have a Whopper of a toy section in the back of the shop! Cuddly TY plushes, puzzles, games and old fashioned toys too, that are sure to elicit many Snickers and Chuckles. You're bound to Skor points with your little ones when you get them gifts from Mr. D's. They even have my fav, PEZ, a candy and a toy in one! The mini arcade Pop Rocks! And don't forget the drink menu! If you're hankering for a cool refresher or a hot beverage, this spot is a Lifesaver! Teas, coffees, hot chocolate and more! I loved the seasonal Peppermint Patty cocoa! Perfect for a Fast Break when you want to Take 5! There's a cute little seating area. So on your next Payday, go on a sweet shopping Spree at this fabulous candy store! You may feel a bit Chunky when you leave, but your sweet tooth will thank you! Pardon all the puns, but I was on a Tootsie Roll or should that be Rolo? (Insert groan here...)

A super adorable ice cream shop with a nostalgic feel to it. Old fashion candy and carousel horses, ceramic cupcake décor. It's all very relaxing, fun and inviting. I had a banana and lemon pie ice cream sundae. It was delicious. The staff was very friendly too. Don't want an ice cream cone or sundae? They also have ice cream cookie sandwiches, baked goods like apple crisp, a cupcake display, grilled cheese, pretzels, bubble tea, coffee, hot chocolate, etc. A pretty big menu for a small place.

Finally made it to this cute little spot in town. Was pleasantly surprised to see all the options here - ice cream, cupcakes, sweet treats, candy and coffee! I got 1 scoop of the coffee Oreo and it was $3.49. Also made sure to grab a turtle pecan! If you have a sweet tooth or sweet cravings - I would definitely recommend this spot!

Your peanut butter swirl ice cream was a disappointment, as it was freezer burned. Not a happy customer.

I sampled one flavor that I thought was decent, but I decided to order the Red Velvet Cake flavor which looked good and tasty. I liked the Red Velvet Cake flavor. It was a bit of a cheat code in the best possible way. I mean -- combine ice cream and one of the best cakes, and you're ahead of the game. The waffle cone was good too, but it had a big hole in the bottom. Luckily, I noticed Dixie cups on the counter. So I just placed the cup under the cone. Service was pleasant and efficient. Sundae Afternoon was a good ice cream shop and is worth visiting. I wouldn't say it's with the top tier CT places though. Four Stars

Upon arriving, the ladies serving you were the sweetest. The main counter has all the hard ice creams on display. They have hard ice creams from The Ice Cream Club, a company from Florida. This is my first time trying this ice cream and different the other ice cream shops in the area who serve Giffords Ice Cream, Praline's Ice Cream, etc. They have a few dairy-free options too. I got two scoops of the Stellar Coffee flavor. The ice cream was light, rich coffee flavor with a thick fudge swirl and a generous amount of mini dark chocolate coffee cups. My husband tried the Strawberry Shortcake Bomb, their take of the Good Humor bar. There was strawberry ice cream in the center, wrapped in vanilla, and rolled in the strawberry shortcakes pieces. They had other fun flavors and treats like a Neil's Donut Ice Cream Sandwich (would love to try this next). Sundae Afternoon is in a great area that we pass by often. It's next to a Subway and across the street from the Yalesville Veterinary Hospital. They have dog friendly ice cream treats too. For a small shop, it's very open. The dining area is spacious, walls painted in a fun, bright orange color. Can't wait to see more of Sundae Afternoon and what they have in store when the weather heats up!

The menu is packed with delicious and interesting flavors, and taste-testing is gladly allowed. My daughter got a cup of the mint chip, while I opted for a waffle cone with sweet cream and chocolate. Both were absolutely delicious. The ambiance is that of an upscale ice cream spot. The interior features a bright, clean, and welcoming black-and-white design, with framed photos of their farm cows lining the walls. The service can be a little on the slow side, but that's likely because they graciously let everyone sample flavors. The employees are incredibly friendly, engaging, and informative about the shop's most popular scoops. An absolute must-visit in New Haven.

Late July is peach season, and the sweet aroma of peaches blends beautifully with the natural richness of milk. The first taste is the sweet and sour peach, with fruit pieces bursting like popping boba, followed by a rich and mellow fruity aroma that instantly transports you to an orchard. All of this is built on a rich and natural milk base. Butter Pecan: A spontaneous choice. Overall, it's slightly salty within the milky flavor, with pecan nuts as a topping, making it a rather full-bodied one. Fortunately, it's not too sweet, so it's not cloying, and the slight saltiness adds a nice touch. I thought it was just okay, but my parents loved it. Sweet Cream Chocolate Chip: Apparently their signature flavor. The sweet cream wasn't actually too sweet, but the cream was very rich and fragrant; the real sweetness came from the chocolate chips, which burst in your mouth with every chew, and even just a sample was slightly cloying. The staff were very friendly, proactively offering recommendations and samples. Taking a break with ice cream while strolling around campus and the art gallery is definitely a great experience.
