My first experience with Alyssa's Cakery in Wallingford was for my baby shower cake, and it was fantastic. Searching for cake options in the greater Hamden area, Alyssa's not only emerged as one of the most affordable but also the best in terms of customer service. They were incredibly easy to work with and completely captured my vision for a naked cake. The cake was not only beautiful but also delicious, and it was ready right on time. It's hard to ask for more when it comes to preparing for a special event. Alyssa's Cakery's combination of quality, value, and customer service makes it a top choice for anyone in need of a special occasion cake. Alyssa's Cakery - Naked 2-tier cake for my baby shower - Bakeries Near Me - Wallingford, Connecticut

Placed an order for a 6" cake on a Wednesday to pick up on a Friday. The person that took the order was super nice and asked me to email her a picture of the cake off their website that I liked. Picked it up at the time they told me I could and I was in and out in under a minute. The cake was ADORABLE but horribly dry and crumbly. The buttercream frosting was ok but not super buttery. It was cute but no one finished their slice and we ended up throwing almost the whole cake out. Maybe it was an off day but didn't feel like it was worth the $60.00 we paid. read more

Alyssa's Cakery is something sweet in the heart of Wallingford on Center Street. Mainly a custom specialty cake shop, Alyssa is baking up ridiculously good cupcakes and brewing up cups of a local favorite coffee (Perkatory Roasters). We wondered into the shop on a Saturday. The hours are odd and short, so make sure to check online before making a trip. The shop has a lot of open space and a few seats to enjoy cupcakes and coffee. There was a case of large cupcakes with lots of flavors to choose from. From seasonal to classic flavors, all cupcakes were decorated nice with a garnish based on theme. There were even trays of mini sized versions of the cupcakes that you rarely see at other bakeries and specialty cake shops. The pieces weren't too bad either, the minis were $1.50 and the regular-sized ranged from $2.50 to $4.00. The regular cupcakes were categorized by classic, specialty, gourmet and supreme. While we were there, we were admiring custom cakes that were being picked up. We snatched up Alyssa's card and will remember her if we need a beautifully decorated cake. Back to the cupcakes... We tried the regular-sized Coffee Cake cupcake and Chocolate Caramel Pretzel cupcake. The coffee cake had a delicious cinnamon-y frosting, a cream cheese (I think) drizzle and topped with a piece of coffee cake. The cake was vanilla and had a ribbon of cinnamon. There was so much cinnamon, I loved it. The Chocolate Caramel cupcake was topped with vanilla frosting, pretzel pieces and caramel balls. It was a chocolate cake. The cupcakes were moist, airy and flavors were on point. I would love to try some of the others next time. Definitely seek out Alyssa's Cakery if you are in need of a cake or cupcakes for a special occasion, or stop in for a sweet pick-me-up! read more

What a fun night!! Went for a cake decorating class and my cake turned out beautiful! They were good at providing and showing instructions of what to do. The design looked complex initially but amazingly enough it really wasn't that difficult. I will definitely go again! They provide the cake and all of the supplies. You get a choice of funfetti, chocolate, vanilla or marble cake. You can bring you're own snacks and beverages. It was a great girls night out! The Cakery is located right on Center St. and that time of day , 5:30, there was plenty of parking! read more

I love to come here for the Cake night classes. At this time you can book a large party ( 10 people perhaps ?) and pay $50 per person for the materials and their instructions. We usually BYOB and brings a few snacks to enjoy while we decorate our cakes. They pre-cook the cylindrical cakes and you tell them ahead of time which flavor you want: funetti, vanilla, red velvet and chocolate are some of the options. They teach about frosting the 'crumb layer, how to bag your buttercream frosting in the plastic piping bags. How to smooth the frosting lines to make it sort of ombre in appearance. Depending on the cake you sign up for they show you how to make simple fondant characters. I'm probably not using the correct terminology but you get the idea. The work tables could be a little larger so you have more room to work and snack but that's really my only suggestion. read more

Cute little bakery shop in prime area in Wallingford. Walking distance to alot of shops in the area . They have the cutest mini cupcakes in many different flavors from original to apple spice (filled inside too) and larger ones like Pumpkin Truffle,S'mores,Apple cider and Sweet & Salty with a chip and pretzel ontop. The make cakes to order here and a few of my friends said they were great . They sell coffee and drinks too. I noticed they have Keto mini cheesecakes and Fat Bombs in flavors if you are on that diet . Stroll by and take a look at the flavors they have and grab some treats for the family today ! Update later on in the day ... I had eaten my Apple cider donut cupcake and it was pure bliss. Perfectly cooked and the buttercream delicious. The cider in the pipette was a good touch . Loved it ! read more

Tim and I spontaneously visited this bakery after seeing a group selling some items on the sidewalk for a Wallingford street event. I'm glad we went inside! They do some awesome mini cupcakes. The Mississippi mudpie and grasshopper were our favorites. The Samoa was ok, though it was mainly because of the 1/4 cookie on the top; the flavor didn't resonate otherwise. Still, creative execution! Together, 4 mini cupcakes were just over $4 including tax. Inside is very frilly and on the girlier side of bakeries. Nothing wrong with that! They do some awesome things with sprinkles! read more

I've been to Alyssas for two different events, one she hosted for my Girl Scout troop, where every girl decorated a cake in their flavor, with a great lesson on using & dying fondant for decoration, the next was a ladies night that the store periodically hosts near holidays (reservations for these fill fast so jump on it if you see it on FB or Insta) the ladies night was super fun, drinks (byob) beautiful cakes for Christmas a wonderful evening. read more

I really like Alyssa's Cakery (and I'm a big cake snob). I've only had their mini cupcakes so far but they have been consistently good. There is always a wide variety to choose from - obviously this depends on the time of day as there are fewer choices closer to closing time. It's a cute little place located in the center of town. There are a couple of tables - I believe they serve coffee too but I've never eaten in. They also sell a couple of other knick knacks (e.g. mugs). Each time I've been there, the staff have always been friendly and helpful. Just placed a large order over the phone and they were really nice and super helpful (I mention this because some places are terrible when you call to place orders). They do regular cakes in addition to the cupcakes and I've heard rave reviews about those - for taste and decoration. Love this place and I'll be back :-) read more

Wow! Amazing! Just some of the words to describe the cake we bought for my daughter's baby shower. Met with a staff member to place the order and sent pic of what I wanted. Are they open? Are they not open? Can they take your order in time? Speciality cakes? What is their definition of a specialist cake? I don't know what they are doing , but I guess if you leave them a message on their days off they will get back to you when they reopen the store. Maybe they would have outstanding business if the owner responded to calls on the weekdays the place is closed. Ya think? That work ethic is out the door. read more

I can not say enough about Alyssa's Cakery!! We used her for my bridal shower and for my wedding. For the bridal shower, we had a beautiful pink bow cookie dough flavored cake. For my wedding, she did a beautiful simple white (with sparkles!) funfetti and Reeses peanut butter flavored cake with accompanied cupcakes with MULTIPLE flavors. Not only was the presentation gorgeous BUT the flavor was out of the world. Multiple guests continue to tell me how delicious Alyssa's cupcakes and cake were. One even told me she sent her an instagram message to tell her how delicious they were. I will be using Alyssa's for ALL of my baking needs in the future!! read more

Cupcakes are amazing I would of have 5 stars but you guys don't have a consistent menu whenever I go there are almost always different cupcakes and the hours you guys are open can be a lot better. With a product that good this store should be open every day. The customer service is a 8 out of 10 would I recommend YES but the hours and a consistent menu should change with a little promotion this place will thrive read more

I have gotten a total of 4 cakes from Alyssa. They have all been wonderful. However since her business has really picked up the customer service has gone down. Last year I ordered a cake with a dozen cupcakes when I went to pick up they forgot my cupcakes and I had to wait an hour for new ones. This year I emailed my order like normal and waited a day for a reply. I called the next day when I got told they would be responding soon. Well it's been four days and still no response. It's really a shame because her products are wonderful. read more

Thanks to Miss Madeleine, I was made aware of this new cupcake shop in town. How could I pass this up? Located right next to Vinny's deli, the space they occupy used to be a creepy looking antique store but the staff did quite a job making the shop feel bright and cheery. They offer two different price tiers for cupcakes--standard cupcakes are $2.50 each (all vanilla, all chocolate, black and white, white and black) or specialty cupcakes at $3.50 each. My sister, Lauren, went with a red velvet, I had a black and white and we brought a Samoas cupcake home for the hubby. The cake itself was nice and moist with a smooth vanilla flavor, with a ton of chocolate frosting atop! Super happy to have a cupcake place in town! read more

So I noticed quite a Yelp buzz about this place recently considering it just opened about a month ago and I had to see what the fuss was about. Fuss be had, these are phenominal! Considering I took the day off from work for my birthday and didn't have plans until later, I figured why not take the 14 minute ride over there. Alyssa's is right next to a deli. I've seen this combination seem to work well for businesses, such as Sub Boss and Sugar in East Haven. I would have loved to try the vanilla squared, but that wasn't a flavor option today. I got a mix of 4 gourmet and 3 classic, came to a little over $14. Red Velvet, moist and that frosting? MMM! Carrot cake frosting was awesome, but the carrot cake itself needed more carrot and less spice. The Smores one was excellent, its marshmellow frosting was light. The Lemon Blueberry one was a great combo of flavors. Can't wait to go back and try more. Alyssa....you go girl! read more

Absolute cutest cake/cupcakery ever!! If I lived in Wallingford it would be extremley tempting not to come here every day. The cupcakes are the most delicious I have ever had. They are better than any place I have tried in Boston - and let me tell you there are many popping up lately. Alyssa (the owner) works to make the most moist, scrumptious, and creative flavored cupcakes DAILY! So far I have only tried the red velvet which tasted like a piece of heaven. There were so many flavors I wanted to try though - especially the cinamon toast crunch one! Everyone must try a cupcake from Alyssa's! It might just make your day or even week :) She also does cakes for every occasion. I've had a wedding cake of hers and also saw a cupcake tower she did at another wedding. Both were gorgeous - meticulate, and perfectly put together! Not to mention they both tasted amazing. Alyssa's Cakery deserves every single star I wish I could give her 10! read more

I placed a custom order online through Alyssa's Cakery for a Boston cream cake. I needed the cake big enough for 10 people, and decorated with the designer brand Versace. Alyssa by far exceeded my expectations!! Not only did this cake look fabulous but it tasted amazing!! The cake size was perfect and we still had alittle left over. The first word out of everyone's mouth after taking a bite was "wow this is so delicious!" Alyssa was very punctual and made sure my cake was ready when I arrived, she also was very accommodating with adding a last minute detail to the cake. I will definitely be placing all my cake orders through her. I can't wait to try another cake flavor! Thank you Alyssa! read more

From my experience which consist of grabbing cup cake and placing it into my mouth, along with my tastebuds gathering and holding a conference of what they just experienced..... The verdict is in: Yuuuuuuuuummy!!! Wow. I have not had a cupcake like that in a looong time. Honestly, never. They are soooo good. Very moist and very tasteful. Often times you have a good looking cake and taste quite don't match up with the looks. Rarely do you have BOTH, a good looking Cakery and a great tasting item. We ordered the cupcake cake... it was so perfect I can't stop raving about our delight. The cupcakes were perfect in size. ONE cupcake would easily provide enough sugar takeoff blast power. I would even go as far as to say that the cupcakes were "big" very far from being dainty. We had our Cupcake cake look like a dinosaur... super cool. Very childlike imagery on the design which was cool with us. We ordered some extra cupcakes on the side. Everything was wow. As far as customer service goes, I didn't make the phone calls so I didn't do that part. My wife didn't have any gripes. I do know we placed the order for the cake 6 days prior from the day of the event. I don't recommend doing what we did but she was kind enough to get the job done, in time and looking good and TASTING DEEELISH!!! We WILL return for our new addition to the family smash cake in a 385 days from TODAY. Thank you!! read more

Delicious cakes but their desserts are to die for, I look forward to them at the taste of Wallingford to see what treats they have out

mmm cupcakes. yah they make em here. and they make em GOOD. in my mind there is a formula composed of if the bakery charges too much/too little and the cupcake is too big/too small and the quality is disgusting/delicious. ok so alyssa;s cupcakes were reasonable priced, well sized and delicious. so the formula works out that THIS PLACE ROCKS. sure, it is totally off the beaten path if you dont live in wallingford. but i think its worth going a little out of your way for reasonably priced well sized deliciousness. and the staff was friendly, so that helps! read more
