I first started going to Elizabeth's Bakery over 10 years ago in the previous location in Wallingford. I would get their vanilla cupcakes. I also had a cake there made for my birthday over 10 years ago. It was a white cake with fresh strawberries in middle and whipped cream frosting. It was the best cake I had ever had in my life. It was so moist with a beautiful layer of fresh strawberries in the middle. Back in September of last year, I had a cake made for a family funeral. I was so excited because it had been over 10 years since I had a cake from this place and I wanted a beautiful cake for the reception after a family funeral. Unfortunately, I was highly disappointed. I bought the same cake I had for my birthday over 10 years ago, except a lot bigger. The cake this time was not moist. The fresh strawberries in the middle of the cake were not fresh. They were thawed from frozen. I know this because I bake myself and know frozen from fresh and I could just tell from the look, taste and size. Furthermore, there was only one small, thawed strawberry in multiple slices of cake! The rest was this pink frosting! These slices of cake were big, square slices of cake, so it was ridiculous to have only one small strawberry. There should have been no reason for pink frosting in the middle. I would agree that the strawberry would make part of the middle frosting red, but not all of it and not pink! I was so upset and disappointed in this cake. My family paid a lot of money for this sheet cake for a sad day, and it was a waste. Now, have had donuts and raspberry and almond twists from this bakery. They are delicious and fresh. Staff is friendly and place is clean in front. But, I will never forget how this bakery disappointed on a cake for a reception for a family funeral. I will never order a cake from here again. I have been to Elizabeth's bakery a few times and the service is excellent. I have tried the egg sandwich delicious and the pound cakes I had one I liked the other not my favorite. But I have tried the chips are very different but really good. The browns are the spice cake were very good and the rolls are so soft I made sandwiches at home with them . The staff was very friendly and helpful. One of Wallingford's hidden gems . I was giggling bakeries and it popped up . Ok! reviews are important. I get it. I'm so disappointed?? They bit off more than they can chew when they moved into a much larger place!! Over the years, I Had 3 personalized Birthday cakes made. Themed cupcakes made. Also themed cookies made. I have spent thousands of dollars which I don't mind doing. BUT... SINCE MOVING TO THE NEW, LARGER STORE ~ CAKE/COOKIE DESIGNS HAVE BEEN HORRIBLE!!! Really amazing place. Found them on a Groupon as I have a sweet tooth. Ok, let's be honest... sweet teeth. So, I ventured down here for some baked goods. I ended up leaving with a dozen Kaiser rolls and no real idea on what I'd use them for, other than the few I had so far were amazing. I also left with a cannoli and another pastry I don't remember the name of, but it comes with a cinnamon inside (they also had a chocolate flavored one as well). I love this little bakery. My family and I used to go all the time to grab a snack or two after going to the bank on the same road. The bakery has sooo many treats and they're always so fresh! For my graduation, we ordered a plain Tres Leches cake and it was SO creamy and heavenly. The cake was large and good for about 25 people but can't remember the pricing since this was 2 years ago (I'd say about $75 or more). The staff are wicked friendly and are great at recommending which treats to get. The facility is always clean, just a little bit with out. There's no public bathrooms, and there's only street parking unless you chose to park in the lot immediately across the street. Will definitely stop by again whenever I have the chance! read more

The lady working the counter was so sweet and helpful!! We don't know much ab Mexican Pastries (Pan dulce) but she was so patient and explained everything!! I can't remember the name of the pink one but it was my favorite. It is a layered crispy pastry with pink sugar cookie dough in between. The cheesecake wasn't NY style, French style I think (?) also really good. The brownie was good too, very rich. The elephant ears (bear claw) had a nice cinnamon flavor. So I looked online and found Elizabeth's bakery and glowing reviews. Turned out to be the best cake ever- moist, melt in your mouth with strawberries and whipped cream icing. A little goes a long way here. Don't be fooled by the prices, as I was when I first came in. Their hard rolls, cookies, and other baked goods are as good as the next place you'll find, for a fraction of the price. A dozen hard rolls for $4.50? It's like I stepped into the 1980's. Where else could you find these prices? For comparison, Franks Bakery in Wallingford charges $9 for a dozen. Double the price! And the rolls are just as good at Elizabeth's. A little more on the softer side, but they're delicious. Want one of those huge deli cookies with sprinkles to go along with your lunch? One dollar. Admittedly, price isn't the only determining factor when considering future visits, but the quality here is top notch. I'll surely be coming back. read more

i was here later in the day and the cases were pretty empty which is a good sign. fresh baked goods that people like sell out! the breads all looked very good but i had a cinnamon twist and it was ok. prices were reasonable and the guy behind the counter was friendly. some of the baked goods were more unique ethnic items that i wasnt familiar with. i had no idea this place existed until i had to stop in the bank of america and saw this in the parking lot behind the BOA. worth checking out, probably the earlier you get there the better luck you will have! read more

Awesome value - $40 for a beautiful custom cake, that is elegant and tasteful. The cake itself was absolutely delicious, the frosting and filling sweet and plenty of it too. I was so satisified - customer service was great too as they called me and stayed later bc I had forgotten about my pick up time. Much better service than the pricey cake place in town that never calls people back and has hours that only work with their schedules. I'd definitely Order a cake from here again. This is my mom's favorite bakery, and there have been days when my mom goes to pick up a bunch of delicious baked goods (rolls, cake, pastries), and my dad goes out the same morning to get the same things to surprise my mom. (These are the best days ever.) Most recently, my parents ordered my birthday cake from Elizabeth's, and it might have been the best cake I've ever had. The thing was gigantic - it took up a good chunk of a picnic table, and I look pretty tiny behind it in my obligatory birthday cake pictures. They let my parents order the cake with two different flavors - half chocolate cake with strawberry filling, and half vanilla cake with pineapple filling - and frosted the whole thing with a whipped buttercream frosting. It was fantastic. The cake was moist and sweet without being too sweet, the fillings were delicious and well made, and the frosting was perfect. Everything we've ever had from Elizabeth's has been great - from the hard rolls to cookies to cupcakes.. I'm daydreaming about it all as I write this review. I just decided that I'm going to eat some of that leftover birthday cake for breakfast. read more

Won't be going back. Went to buy some pastries and was looking for something delicious. The flavored baked breads looked great until I could see three or four or more little flies feasting on the top of the loaves. Flies feasting on the pastries is a real turnoff. So disappointed with this backery as well as its baker Guadelupe. I referred my brother to this lady bc we love their tres leches cake but they failed us big time with tjis wedding cake. I was asked to be there during set up. Not only did they come late making me late to the wedding but the cake fell after I left them to go to the church. Before I left I voiced my concerns about one of the cakes being filled too much and it looking like it was tilted. I called the lady once I learned the cake was falling. She said impossible. I sent her pics she started crying this never happen to her. After several times of talking to her she reassured me money was not the problem she was more worried about her name her professionalism her craft being tainted. When i arrived at bakery for the refund she shoved us off to her manager who told us well when we left it was good anything could have happened. Not our fault mind you hall was closed till after wedding. Unacceptable....he also said with a smile on his face sorry we dont offer cake insurance no refund. I ordered a cake for my grandfather's 90th birthday party with specific instructions for a design and photos for them to go off of. While the cake itself tasted fine, the cake looked awful. All they did was take the picture I gave them, blow it up, put it on edible paper and slapped it on over another picture that could be seen through the top photo. the cake was sagging in one corner. The owner claims that they did the best they could - Stop and Shop would have made a nicer cake. And it looked like they messed up the writing and stuck the "90th" part randomly on the bottom so it looked stupid. The staff was rude and whoever I spoke to on the phone clearly did not take a course in customer service. It was not worth the $50 I had to pay for it (they wanted $75) and my own grandfather looked at the cake and was disappointed in what he saw. I will not order another cake from them because of the absolutely obnoxious customer service I received and their lazy approach to decorating a cake. It was sloppy and clearly their motto is NOT "the customer is always right." HUGE disappointment. read more
