I got the scoop on the new ice cream shop in town, please welcome, Scoopy's, to Wallingford! This shop has a lot of options from hard ice scream, sundaes, flights, Italian ice, and treats for the fur-kids. They have a long list of ice cream flavors from their specialty cannoli, cake batter, cotton candy, black raspberry and more. The also have a ton of toppings and sauces. I got a chocolate dipped waffle cone with a scoop of blueberry swirl and coconut. The shop is very large with two fun photo op walls. All the toppings are on display at the counter. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. There are many picnic tables outside to enjoy your ice cream. I also thought the trash can painted like an ice cream cone was a great touch. I will be coming back again because I'd love to try their Neil's Donut Sundae. Neil's Donuts is right up the street. read more

If you're looking for a cute ice cream spot, this is it! When you walk in, it's a large place (much larger than it appears outside) with plenty of seating. The walls are painted in a cute ice cream sunday theme that I love. There are dozens of flavors and mixing options, and the staff is friendly and patient. The ice cream is creamy and richly flavored with large servings, so you get your money's worth. The only (minor) disappointment was it was quite cold in side. We have visited twice now and had the same experience both times so felt it was time for a review. I would say we eat ice cream out at least once a week if not more especially during the summer. The place is clean and has plenty of workers so there is never a wait. They are all very friendly and respectful. They also have complimentary popcorn which my son loves! I was excited to see they carried micalizzi Italian ice. I'm from Bridgeport originally so I am very familiar with them. It usually is very soft. Both times now I got it it has large hard chunks. So much so my toddler struggled to eat his. Definitely not the same as getting it straight from micalizzi's themselves. Also I want to say more expensive here. They do have a bunch of flavors though and they do taste just as good as I remember! Now for their ice cream- you cannot see the flavors. I don't like that- while they have plenty we like to see them- it helps with picking which you want without having to try a bunch of them. It also seems to lack a depth of flavor. We've tried 5 different flavors now and they're all just very muted. Really they just don't taste like anything. We also had errors in our orders both times now. Most recently we asked for salted caramel and got chocolate chip cookie dough. Not even close to the same but we didn't realize it until we left and weren't going back. I'm sure they would've fixed it and I know they're relatively new so not really docking any points for that. The first time we got 2 scoops and toppings but they tried to squeeze it in the cup and we basically got no toppings. It's over 6 bucks for 2 scoops and 1 topping so kind of was disappointing. We normally go to another place in Wallingford and just find their flavors much deeper, they're very generous with the toppings (larger cup) and it's cheaper. Definitely bringing the whole family here , I took me and my son there after his baseball game, when we entered we was greeted almost immediately, the place was very decorated with colorful signs and seating, when we ordered we watched them make our ice cream in front of us, and within minutes they finished our ice cream's, ice cream was some of the best I've tried, 5 stars definitely coming back read more

Scoopy's is a solid new ice cream spot in Wallingford! I went for the first time today and it was a great experience. I really liked the decor of the place. They have ice cream painted on the front windows as you walk up to the door, and even an ice cream cone trash can out front. Inside it's spacious and clean. There's an old-style popcorn machine to the left as you walk in with free popcorn. They have several tables inside where you can eat, and also picnic tables with umbrellas outside. I was the only one in the place when I went, and the employee was very friendly and greeted me. They have a list of about 30 flavors to choose from, and I ordered the "Graham Slam," which was Graham Cracker-flavored ice cream with honey combs in it. Really good! And at $5 for two scoops, I thought the price was very reasonable. They also had a bunch of toppings to choose from, Italian Ice, milkshakes, floats, ice cream flights, and some specials, including a Neil's Donut Sundae and Ice Cream Nachos, which both sounded delicious. Overall I'd recommend Scoopy's as a great new ice cream spot to try this summer! read more

Was a regular customer there for a flavor of Gifford's ice cream that is not sold in stores. It is my favorite ice cream. Then went one day and received a larger container of ice cream that was clearly not Gifford's. It was so bad, I had to throw it out when I got home and tasted it. Went back another time for just one scoop and it was back to being Giffords ice cream. So I was excited and the next time at Scoopy's got a large container of ice cream to again find out it was not Gifford's ice cream and needed to discarded it. It was such bad quality it was inedible. Contacted the manager who admitted that it was not Gifford's ice cream yet was selling it as Gifford's at the same price. I explained the two incidents of issues that I had and the only response was "that happens". No offer of any refund or replacement with actually Gifford's. At that point I knew I would no longer be a customer. Just wanted people to know you may not be getting what is advertised and what you think you are paying for. read more

The employees were great - friendly and helpful - greeted us right away. This is maybe just me but I find it impossible to pick an ice cream from a list of words. I gotta see the flava flavs with my eyeballs. They offered a taste for my to try, but nah. Lemme lean over that glass with a hearts-for-eyeballs look on my face while I imagine diving into a 2 scoop. But nah. Just words on a paper. Unfortunately the ice cream lacked flavor and tasted like more milk than cream, if that makes sense. Plus side -- maybe it's healthier? Haha. Ice cream - absolutely fantastic!! I'm not sure if they make it themselves or have an agreement with a local supplier but amazing ice cream for sure!! Service - it's okay - the kids working there seem nice but they were forgetful when it came to the order. No had ordered waffle cones on the side and when I got home, they were not there. They were friendly enough but lacked attention to detail. Ambiance was ehhh. I wanted and expected a feel of a craft homemade establishment and it lacked that entirely. The board was hard to read and the overall place seemed big but with nothing in it. The best word I could come up with was it felt very sterile. Not a place I'd want to stay in long but more of a get my ice cream and go. I'm torn between 3 and 4 stars because of this but the ice cream really is tasty! read more

Im all about ice cream and Im always looking for a good spot. I've tried Scoopys three times and was really hoping to love it, its 2 minutes drive from my home, but its just okay *sigh* I tried 6 different flavors and none have full flavors. I dont know if this makes sense but they're like milky or bland. Theres no depth in the flavors and they are really sugary. There should be a good balance of flavors, a clear distinction of what the flavor should be and not over sugared to compensate for the lack of ingredients. Its a cute clean place and the servers are very nice. Lots of space inside and out to sit and enjoy and lots of parking too but the ice cream is under whelming, just meh. I will be sticking to Durham Dairy Serv. Almost a 20 min drive, outside drive up, no tables, hard to park, always a line and totally worth it. read more

Tried this place for the second time. Had a brownie sundae with smores ice cream and chocolate sauce. Bland flavored graham cracker ice cream was brown with many chunks of chocolate...saw very small marshmallow bits. Brownie was thin. When I found out the whipped cream was canned, I said, 'no thanks'. Ditto the cherry. For just shy of $10 with tax it was expensive and underwhelming. read more
