Spoon of their new flavor "Love Struck".

I got to visit Micro Creamery this past Saturday & loved it! This great establishment took over the space where Sweet Claude's was which is a nice location! Friendly staff, you can try the flavors, & it's cute. I very much ordered for the whole fam, even though they were hesitant on me taking the drive because they were craving it. When I brought back all the ice cream, it was gone within minutes. I loved the variety that they had, everything also seemed very clean. The seating is good but minimal so keep that in mind, especially this time around unless you're grabbing to go like me. Immediately this one called "Love Struck" took my attention. I asked the staff what did it have, they said it's a new flavor, & it was chocolate chunks with strawberry swirl. I kept peeking at everything else, out of curiosity. I'm a HUGE coconut fan, so the "almond joy" was my second choice. Without a doubt I grabbed both since I just couldn't decide. I was not disappointed, very much enjoyed. Everyone else grabbed different choices like pistachio, Cookie Monster, rum raisin, & birthday cake. All I got was good feedback from them, so definitely check them out if you're nearby.

"Black, white, green, red Can I take my friend to bed? Pink, brown, yellow, orange, and blue I love you All together now" (Lennon and McCartney) Oh yes, all the colors of the ice cream rainbow are all together now on Micro Creamery's menu. Micro Creamery's third Connecticut location took over the space previously occupied by Sweet Claude's ice cream, so Micro's unique approach to cups and cones and sundaes and ice cream pies is now available in Cheshire. Why is it unique? Well, the 75 flavors they carry are made by six different Connecticut creameries - Big Dipper, Cold Fusion, Pralines, Bucks, Salem Valley, and Arethusa. With so many flavors, you can expect to see some doozies - case in point Coffee Caramel Espresso, Peanut Butter and Fluff, Madagascan Bourbon Vanilla, Cotton Candy and Peanut Butter Oreo for examples. The first thing that struck us when we walked in wasn't the ice cream flavor selection, or the cute interior. It was the wonderful welcome we received from the manager. My goodness, she treated us like long lost cousins. We ended up ordering 4 different small cups of ice cream, and lemme tell ya, deciding on a Final Four was pretty tough. But the finalists were S 'mores (from Big Dipper), Coffee Caramel Espresso (from Big Dipper), Blueberry Cheesecake (from Big Dipper), and Swamp (from Bucks). The cups ran around $5 each. Check out these descriptions! S'mores - "Graham Cracker Ice Cream with chocolate chips and marshmallow swirl" Blueberry Cheesecake - Cheesecake ice cream with blueberries and graham cracker swirl Swamp - "Vanilla Malt ice cream with caramel swirl, crushed Oreos, M&Ms, malted milk balls" Coffee Caramel Espresso - "Coffee ice cream with caramel swirl and chocolate covered espresso beans" OK, you can put your tongues back in your mouths now. We started with the 'Smores, and it was a solid choice with a faithful rendition of everyone's campfire favorite flavors. How can you go wrong with graham crackers, chocolate and marshmallow? Next up was the Blueberry Cheesecake. It had a lot of great blueberry sweetness and creamy graham cracker ribbons swirled into a mild and neutral tasting base. The Swamp ice cream was outstanding. I loved the malted ice cream flavor, and it was loaded with those crunchy chocolate goodies. And finally, we had the Coffee Caramel Espresso, and it was great with a deep coffee flavor and plenty of crunchy chocolate covered coffee beans. All four flavors were great. My personal favorites were the Swamp and Coffee Caramel. This is premium ice cream, so consider "premium" as a code word for expensive. Our $5 small cups were very small and just weighed about 4 ounces each.

Finally had the ice cream flavors (and quality) of my dreams. Love the selection but I usually go with Graham jam and sweet cream.

"Well, Lordy, Lordy, Lordy, Ms. Claudy Girl, you sure look…read moregood to me" (Elvis Presley) Sweet Claude's may be one of the more difficult to find ice cream stores around, so your mindset better be "determination" focused, because I guarantee you'll be very happy with your dish or cone. You'll find them tucked away pretty much out of view inside the Artsplace building (493 W Main) within the Ball and Socket Art Complex in Cheshire. They've been cranking out homemade ice cream since 1988, and we had a stellar experience when we visited. They have plenty of ice cream flavors (including some nonfat and sugar free), plus yogurts, sorbets and ices. Some of their interesting flavors are Claude's Cupcake, Dough - Si -Dough, Salty Pretzel, Smurf, and a "Banana Corner" which is a rotating selection of banana-based ice cream. How cool! I went with a 2-flavor small dish of Salty Pretzel and Triple Chocolate. The ice cream was smooth as silk and full of flavor. Seriously, their ice cream is terrific, and at $5.35 for a big enough cup, was a very fair value. PRO TIP Because Sweet Claude's is in the Ball and Socket Art Complex there are many sections within the complex to park your car. But only park in front of Sweet Claude's if you plan on staying there for no more than a half hour. Visitors to the rest of the complex or the Farmington River Trail should leave those precious spots to the ice cream afficionados!

My daughter and I both chose the same flavor Mississippi, mud. I found the flavor of the ice cream was delicious, but the ice cream itself lacked the rich, heavier cream of premium ice cream. They only had four stools for indoor seating, and a few benches for outdoor seating. Good ice cream, but does not compare to some of the dairy farm ice cream shops in Ct.

I've had their Graham Jam ice cream at the Micro Creamy of CT and is where I first learned about them. The Big Dipper's shop in Prospect was a 20 minute drive for us. The shop was very cute, classic ice cream shop vibes with a lot of indoor seating. There were freezers with ice cream pies, cakes, sandwiches, and pints or quarts of ice cream. They had a lot of hand scooped ice cream flavors from classic to original flavors. There were a few soft serve flavors available too. Since they make their own ice cream there were flavors that were unique to them. I got a scoop of Purple Cloud--a purple cotton candy base ice cream with a marshmallow swirl and Lemon Pie--lemon base ice cream with pie crust pieces. These flavors packed a punch and the Purple Cloud was fun for all ages. I don't remember the last time I had eaten cotton candy flavored ice cream, but the marshmallow swirl was a great touch to a nostalgic flavor. I got my ice cream in a waffle cone which was very delicious and had little bits of caramelization. My mom wanted a special soft serve flavor that the Big Dipper had advertised for the weekend. They called it Butterbeer, a twist of sweet cream and butterscotch. The girl helping us had no idea what we were talking about, but finally confirmed that they had the special soft serve flavors. We think my mom's cone was only the butterscotch flavor, but the soft serve was so soft it started melting immediately. No picture because it didn't look to pretty. Fortunately, the flavor was good and that's what really matters. I'd say stick to the hard ice cream flavors at Big Dipper. I look forward to visiting them again to see what they'll craft up because I'm always looking for flavors you can't get anywhere else.
