    That beautiful blue ice cream.
    Steven M.

In September of 2014 I went on a first date with a girl to the old Sweet Claude's location on Route 10 in Cheshire. Well, Ten years later that girl and I are married and live in Los Angeles, so when we flew back to Connecticut for a wedding a few weeks ago we figured the time was right to make a return trip and see what changed. I was pretty confused when the GPS took me to this random building I didn't remember, but it appears Sweet Claude's has upgraded and expanded to this massive building. When we first walked in, we noticed the super cool art work, the bright colours, and the large selection of ice cream and treats to choose from. Although this wasn't the same place we met at a decade ago, it was nice to see this ice cream shop thriving and expanding with time. I knew what I wanted before I even walked in the door, so I ordered a two (close to three) scoop of the smurf (I think that's the name) with a waffle cone dipped in oreo crumbs. Was it everything I remembered? You dang right it was! The ice cream here is so tasty, so flavourful, and so rich that after finishing my ice cream I almost headed back inside for another one, but my wife reminded me that I needed to be able to button my pants for the wedding the next day. Overall, Sweet Claude's is one of the best ice cream shops in Connecticut and a place that holds a spot in my heart. The girls working were super friendly and even though I was disappointed with the lack of T-Shirt sizes, I left with delicious ice cream and a cool memory of returning to the place we met at. Like ice cream? Live in Connecticut? You should be here already.

Sweet Claude's was a great treat! I have been wanting to try them for so long since their ice cream is homemade and recommended. Now that that Sweet Claude's is in the newly renovated Ball & Socket Arts building (a group saving the historic site), the shop is a few minutes from my work's office. We have been patiently waiting for Sweet Claude's to open for the season and we finally made it. The ice creams are displayed in the front case for all to see as well as a list written on the wall. Most of their ice creams are traditional, no flavor is too unique. It's your average small town ice cream shop. I decided to try the flavor, Smurf, on a sugar cone. It was a light blue raspberry ice cream with pieces of marshmallows. The vibrant color was fun and I think the marshmallows are supposed to be like the Smurf's hats. It was delicious and I liked the texture of the marshmallows the most. The marshmallows were spongy like if they were homemade. My coworkers got a scoop of Cookie Dough on a sugar cone and a Black Raspberry milkshake that was hand spun. We came by around 2pm in the afternoon and the place was so quiet we were worried they weren't open. The parking lot was empty when we arrived. After we walked around the entire building, we finally found the entrance and Sweet Claude's was indeed open! The door was on the side with a cool mural and garage door, we embarrassingly missed it.There were benches near the entrance too which is where we enjoyed our ice cream cones and shake. It was the perfect weather so we sat, chatted for a while, and saw business start to pick up. People were bringing out freshly packed tubs, sundaes, shakes and scoops. Before I headed home, I grabbed my husband a Cookie milkshake. This was their version of cookies n' cream and the shake was thin and milky. My husband enjoyed it, but he prefers thicker milkshakes. My work crew really enjoyed getting ice cream and we will definitely swing by again soon.

Always on the hunt for homemade ice cream. This place was great, cute, and had a friendly staff. My server was very accommodating to my daughter. Smooth flavors, great prices. I love that it's at ball and socket arts because it's so funly decorated that it makes visiting extra exciting! I wish I got pics of the art. We went on a weekend and it was busy!

While the ice cream is good, the chocolate chips they are using are delicious!!! Loved the mint chocolate chip with hot fudge and also got an ice cream cake to go. The girls behind the counter were very friendly. I loved the variety of flavors offered would definitely come back.

Sweet Claude's is a great ice cream spot in Cheshire! They recently moved from their location on Route 10 to a building on West Main St. (part of the Ball & Socket Arts building) and I visited them at their new location recently. While the inside looks different, they still have the same great homemade ice cream! I ordered the Reese's Peanut Butter Cup in a waffle cone and it was excellent. The staff were friendly and the service was quick. The new location seems to have more parking than the old one, and more benches to sit. Make sure you add Sweet Claude's to the list for your CT ice cream tour this summer!

I only gave this three out of five stars, not necessarily because anything tasted bad, but because it's very expensive for what you get. I ordered a regular size of the Nutella crunch ice cream. That was $4.70, and if I wanted any toppings they were one dollar each. The person I was with ordered the Bailey's as a milkshake and while it tasted OK, it tasted mostly like milk. If I added my usual toppings, the total for my ice cream would have been $9 or $10, and based on the amount and taste, I personally don't think it's worth it. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit this place again, but if I were in the area and in the mood for ice cream I may stop in again.

Sweet Claude's has become one of my local favorites for some homemade and delicious ice cream. They have remained opened for curb side pick up during the Covid 19 pandemic which has been a great treat when we need to get out of the house. They always have creative flavor specials posted on social media in addition to their regular flavor menu. Cash only, which is slightly inconvenient, however most ice cream places around here also are, so it's to be expected. I'm happy to support them. Keep up the delicious work!

We were in the area today and my group of friends was craving ice cream! I knew Sweet Claude's was nearby and they make their own ice cream. We were excited to try! The location is very quaint and small inside. Also note they're cash only which we weren't prepared for. We all got different flavors of ice cream and everyone liked what they ordered. I ordered the Nutella Crunch which was a Nutella ice cream with chocolate covered graham crackers. Honestly, I wasn't too impressed with this. The Nutella flavor was very faint I couldn't taste it at all. It tasted more like vanilla... which was odd. If I see a Nutella or chocolate hazelnut flavor I always always order it. But this one didn't impress me. However, my friend got their Banana Ice Box Cake flavor which was on special and WOW that was amazing. I desperately wish I tried that before ordering mine!

Cozy cash-only ice cream spot inside of a house. Although they are cash-only they have an ATM inside, so you don't have to stress about bringing cash too much Have a ton of flavors of ice-cram, both traditional and unique. I got their seasonal flavor which was a combination of every ice cream they have, and it was actually delicious! Their ice cream has a great consistancy You can choose two flavors for ice-cream of any size, wether it is going to be in a cup or cone. Their cones are pretty generic however. Have both indoor and outdoor seating. The staff were incredibly friendly. Also have frozen yogurt & cakes in addition to ice cream. 8/10

Ordered a cake for a co-worker last minute and Sweet Claude's made it happen! I got the 10in Square cake with cookies and cream inside. Not one piece of ice cake was left. I will definitely order again!

Five on quality of product. Three on service. I decided to stop here after work. I finally gave into the curiosity after years of driving by Claude's on Rte 10. Couple that with the fact it was nearly 100 degrees yesterday and it seemed like a good idea. The ice cream itself was very good. I ordered the toasted almond. It was very smooth and very creamy. I would definitely order it again. Moving along to the customer service. I don't consider myself sensitive but there was room for improvement here. I walked in and I was the only person there. I was staring at the menu/list. A cashier walked out and I acknowledged them. I didn't get much of a response. They serve an ice cream called "Smurf". I got sort of a terse response that it was blue raspberry and marshmallows. None of this really bothers me because even if not friendly , I'm still getting the information I need. So I order the toasted almond. The regular size was four something bordering on $5. So I extend the five dollar bill to the cashier and aggressively takes it out of my hand. Now, if I haven't really paid much attention to the vibe here, I'm picking it up now. Once again, not a deal breaker by any means. However, I think there is room for improvement with the customer service.

I've had their Graham Jam ice cream at the Micro Creamy of CT and is where I first learned about them. The Big Dipper's shop in Prospect was a 20 minute drive for us. The shop was very cute, classic ice cream shop vibes with a lot of indoor seating. There were freezers with ice cream pies, cakes, sandwiches, and pints or quarts of ice cream. They had a lot of hand scooped ice cream flavors from classic to original flavors. There were a few soft serve flavors available too. Since they make their own ice cream there were flavors that were unique to them. I got a scoop of Purple Cloud--a purple cotton candy base ice cream with a marshmallow swirl and Lemon Pie--lemon base ice cream with pie crust pieces. These flavors packed a punch and the Purple Cloud was fun for all ages. I don't remember the last time I had eaten cotton candy flavored ice cream, but the marshmallow swirl was a great touch to a nostalgic flavor. I got my ice cream in a waffle cone which was very delicious and had little bits of caramelization. My mom wanted a special soft serve flavor that the Big Dipper had advertised for the weekend. They called it Butterbeer, a twist of sweet cream and butterscotch. The girl helping us had no idea what we were talking about, but finally confirmed that they had the special soft serve flavors. We think my mom's cone was only the butterscotch flavor, but the soft serve was so soft it started melting immediately. No picture because it didn't look to pretty. Fortunately, the flavor was good and that's what really matters. I'd say stick to the hard ice cream flavors at Big Dipper. I look forward to visiting them again to see what they'll craft up because I'm always looking for flavors you can't get anywhere else.
