    "Fall dog"
    Wilsy A.

If I could've given it a half star, I would've...... I cannot believe how flabbergasted I was to see all of these "great" reviews for it to all be hoax. I'm supportive of ALL small businesses everywhere & those who know me, know this. I just can't let people keep thinking that this is a "must try" spot? I decided to give this establishment a shot while driving back home. I was starving & told myself I'd finally be down to try Rose Dairy. First off, the staff on site this day didn't seem to want to be there what so ever. They didn't provide us with a receipt which is a norm to me, if ordering whether that's to stay or to-go. Before grabbing my food at their pick-up window, more patrons had started to come; making me think it must be good so let me be patient. The entire order was wrong, one way or another. There were no fries, when we ordered a combo. The "crispy chicken sandwich" had school like chicken tenders and I doubt adding anything to it would've made the taste any better. I tried to dip it in their "Mac sauce" which we payed for & it tasted like mayonnaise with a touch of color. I didn't take a picture of the "cheeseburger" which was just a beef patty on a bun, because they forgot all the toppings I asked them to add. The "fall dog" was basically a chili cheese hotdog, truly dreadful, & I wish I didn't have to say that. I've had plenty of chili cheese dogs before and this one was the worst, it was also FREEZING cold? I only walked like 7 feet to my table right next to where I picked it up..... I'm super disappointed, will not be returning not even for their mid flavored pumpkin shake which I didn't take a photo of because at that point I was pissed.

Rose Dairy reminds me of an old-fashioned outside ice cream shop with grill food options. No gimmicks, nothing fancy, just good. They had more then a dozen hard serve ice cream flavors, soft serve was vanilla, chocolate, and swirl. They also have shakes, sundays, hotdogs, burgers, variety of sandwiches, fries, onion rings, etc. They do have outside seating. My wife and I had their excellent soft serve ice cream swirl. Next trip I will try one of their burgers.

Peanut butter cup Razzle. Not exactly full, but very tasty.

A Cheshire "institution" and great warm weather spot for a bite to eat and a sweet finish. The only negative, and knowing ice cream is expensive everywhere these days, is that the Razzle (like a Blizzard) was very expensive. You can buy 3 "half gallons" of the supermarket ice cream on sale that week for the same price. I got a large peanut butter cup Razzle. The cup wasn't full either, but it was delicious.

No love cheeseburger and "onion rings"
    Mike G.

Got a cheeseburger and asked for onion rings instead of fries. Here's what I got. Burger was overcooked/charred and it just felt thrown together. No take out box, but instead it's a paper plate and tin foil. It's pricey too. When I complained about the onion rings I was told it was an up charge after I had already paid. The high schooler couldn't have been less interested in making it right. The manager got involved and made me a fresh onion ring, but it took way to long. Did not have ice cream but my Del's Lemonade which has real cut up lemons at every Del's in New England was void of those. Disappointed would be an understatement.

Glenwood Drive-In is a historic family restaurant that opened in Hamden, Connecticut in 1955. It…read morewas founded by Rocky Stone. The property was originally a small drive-in that operated under a different name. Stone purchased the drive-in after working as a Tip-Top salesman and deliveryman. He renamed it "Glenwood" and expanded the menu, hours and the physical building. After Stone passed away in 1960, his son Frank "Wayne" Stone took it over and he continues to run it today. In the early days, the Glenwood had a walk-up service window similar to establishments such as Dairy Queen. Over the years, Wayne remodeled the interior and added an indoor seating area. The menu consists of staples such as footlongs, chili dogs, cheeseburgers, clam strips, lobster rolls, soft shell crab, fries, onion rings, and much more! Although the establishment is no longer a traditional drive-in restaurant, the Glenwood still hosts classic car "Cruise Nights" every Wednesday during the warmer months. In 1985, Wayne's daughter opened "Kelly's Cone Connection": an adjoining ice cream parlor business that is connected to the Glenwood. Although both businesses share the same space, they operate as separate entities. Kelly makes all of her own ice cream, hot fudge, waffle cones, ice cream pies and birthday cakes in house. Customers can expect to choose from about 35 different flavors on any given day. My family and I recently stopped for dinner at Glenwood Drive-In. Growing up in the area, I visited the Glenwood several times throughout my childhood. I also frequently accompanied my father to "Cruise Nights" when he still owned a 1971 Triumph TR6. On this outing, we ordered a variety of menu items including a "Chili Cheese Dog", "Footlong", "Chicken Fingers w/ Fries", and "Fried Shrimp w/ Fries". There's something about those classic menu staples that just really hit the spot. Afterwards, we headed through the adjoining doorway to Kelly's Cone Connection for dessert. It was a special occasion because the ice cream parlor was hosting a meet & greet with Spider-Man himself. The event coincided with the release of a new monthly special called the "Spidey-Sundae" (Firework 250 Poprock ice cream w/ golden Oreos, a frosting and sprinkle rim w/ a cotton candy web, poprocks, & a Spider-Man ring). My sons both had a blast meeting Spider-Man and eating his special ice cream treat. I tried a different monthly special: the "New England Clam Chowder" (sweet cream salted caramel ice cream w/ white chocolate "clams", dried mint, vanilla wafers, white chocolate shell). The presentation was immaculate and the flavor combo was simply divine! If you're looking for classic American drive-in food along with some fantastic ice cream, then head to Glenwood Drive-In and Kelly's Cone Connection!

Cash only, cash only, cash only!…read more But there is an ATM on site Stopped in for lunch with a friend of mine on this Friday afternoon, the place was definitely steady with people dining in, takeout, and the at picnic tables outside This was a beautiful day and we decided we would be sitting at the picnic tables outside The order was placed for two hotdog one with mustard, onion, and sauce, and the other hotdog with mustard and relish. I ordered a Pepsi soft drink, and my friend ordered the lemonade iced tea. About 10 minutes later, our order arrived, and we took the hotdog and drinks outside to the picnic tables The picnic tables could've been a little bit cleaner, but they were passable. After all, this is a lunch stop, and a hotdog joint, and a dive. One bite into that foot-long hotdog, and it was hot dog heaven. The toasted buttered England style hotdog roll, just was grilled to perfection. The hotdog had a nice SNAP to it with just nice a little bit spicy kick to the dog, I loved the mustard and the minced onions. But let's talk about that sauce. I could taste some cinnamon in it, there probably was chocolate in it also, but this was, in my opinion, the best meat sauce in Connecticut. My friend concurred that his hot dog was delicious. However, he wished he ordered the minced onions to go with it after seeing the onions on my hotdog. So... Let's go for round two! We had another foot-long hotdog I had one with mustard, onion, and sauce. My friend had one with mustard relish, and onion on it and we demolished them. I had a Pepsi drink and it was nice and cold and fresh. It was a bottle of lemonade iced tea, and it was consistent with what's usually in a bottle drink This is a great stop on the way to or from the beach, and Lake Beseck Conveniently located, and parking is a breeze outback around the side. There is an outside ice cream window along with an ice cream counter inside to the right of the entrance. The ice cream and milkshakes looked delicious. I wish I had stopped and took the time to order one. Definitely next time. To say these are the best hotdog in Connecticut would be a pretty fair statement. If not, these are a top five stop for hotdog.
