Rose Dairy reminds me of an old-fashioned outside ice cream shop with grill food options. No gimmicks, nothing fancy, just good. They had more then a dozen hard serve ice cream flavors, soft serve was vanilla, chocolate, and swirl. They also have shakes, sundays, hotdogs, burgers, variety of sandwiches, fries, onion rings, etc. They do have outside seating. My wife and I had their excellent soft serve ice cream swirl. Next trip I will try one of their burgers.

Peanut butter cup Razzle. Not exactly full, but very tasty.

A Cheshire "institution" and great warm weather spot for a bite to eat and a sweet finish. The only negative, and knowing ice cream is expensive everywhere these days, is that the Razzle (like a Blizzard) was very expensive. You can buy 3 "half gallons" of the supermarket ice cream on sale that week for the same price. I got a large peanut butter cup Razzle. The cup wasn't full either, but it was delicious.

No love cheeseburger and "onion rings"

Got a cheeseburger and asked for onion rings instead of fries. Here's what I got. Burger was overcooked/charred and it just felt thrown together. No take out box, but instead it's a paper plate and tin foil. It's pricey too. When I complained about the onion rings I was told it was an up charge after I had already paid. The high schooler couldn't have been less interested in making it right. The manager got involved and made me a fresh onion ring, but it took way to long. Did not have ice cream but my Del's Lemonade which has real cut up lemons at every Del's in New England was void of those. Disappointed would be an understatement.

How to know you're at Rose Dairy Bar.

8/10/19 I've driven past Rose Dairy literally thousands of times, never giving a thought to trying it out until today. It's NCIS.......(Not Cooking, It's Sunday). Rose Dairy serves burgers, dogs, chicken sandwiches, fish sandwiches, pretty much any way you want them. Onion rings & fries are optional sides. It's an order at one window, pick up at another when they call your name, kind of place. Cute! There's only outdoor seating on umbrella covered picnic tables in a fenced in area next to the building, so be aware of that. It's very clean, but meant only for the warmer months. I placed my order for a bacon, cheddar burger w/a side of onion rings, and found an open table to wait for my name to be called. A few short minutes later I was chowing down a very good 1/2 pound burger made from a hand formed patty. No flat, thin, hockey pucks here! The burger was really very good, the rings were a bit better than average, but not special in any way. Keeping in mind that the word "dairy" is in the name of this place made me all the more disappointed in the maple walnut ice cream I had after I finished my burger & rings. I kept seeing what I at first thought were bits of styrofoam from the cup the ice cream was served in, until I quickly realized it was ice in the ice cream. The ice cream was less creamy, and more icy. Lesson learned. For ice cream I'll head over to Sweet Claud's, about 75 yards north of here for my ice cream fix from now on. I'll certainly return for a burger or hot dog though!

This is a simple hot dog and ice cream stand where everything made fresh on-site. A healthier alternative to the fast food place next door.

The soft serve chocolate is my favorite. The kids and the man who manages the place are always very friendly and do a great job.

I had to try the famous dogs... they were big, great bun, and I LOVE the fact that you put on your own condiments at the next window (read: not from packets!!). Service was outstanding. Friendly. Clearly a source of family pride. It had that feel of the place we all know and love from our childhood. I regret only getting hot dogs as I really don't love skinless franks. I was praying for snap. But... they were good. I can't wait to try a burger or the famous clams. Next time - no dogs. All other things. I'm sure they'll be outstanding. Clearly they're doing something right.

But it's not just about the dogs. Their fries are golden and crispy, the onion rings are addictive, and the milkshakes hit the spot. The whole menu delivers that nostalgic, satisfying, comfort-food goodness that keeps you coming back. Service is always friendly and quick, and the retro vibe gives the whole place a fun, laid-back feel. You can tell this place has been doing it right for years--and it shows. Frankie's really is the hot dog king, and once you try it, you'll totally understand why!

Today, a sunny early Spring morning, I decided to escape the dark recesses of my humble abode and finally make the trip to Middlefield. I am glad I did. Guida's has a definite 50s diner vibe. Everything looked clean, fresh, and appealing. The server was very friendly and helpful and the food was brought quickly. The fries were hot right from the oil and the 1/4 lb burger was cooked perfectly. Today, I opted for a strawberry shake and was pleased to find it not cloyingly sweet from too much syrup. Delish! The prices were comparable for other like establishments. Note: They only accept cash, but have an ATM for customer convenience. This is definitely a restaurant I would visit again when I am in the area!

"Sit anywhere, I'll be right with you." My wife and I sat at the counter for the full experience. We knew we were going to have hot dogs but it was just a matter of what to put on it. I knew I wanted the chili, onions and yellow mustard. This is my go to. We had fries and onion rings. Everything was made to order but got to us very quickly. The hot dog rolls were toasted perfectly, a little crunch but soft on the inside. The dogs were the same, a little char but not burnt. the toppings were generous. I'll tell you what, someone said the onion rings are very good, they did not exaggerate. Those onion rings were some of the best I've had in a long time. Our fries were very good too and if we only had them they wouldn't have been out shone but those onion rings... I would go back just for them. However I would certainly have to have one of these hot dogs again. My wife had the two scoops of ice cream in a cup and I had the three scoop sundae. The ice cream was amazing. We both had the vanilla = excellent, I had strawberry and butter pecan. Big pieces of strawberries and a mouthful of pecans in every bite. My wife had the moose tracks and I was jealous. I think she got more ice cream than me. Not really, I was just jealous. They claim the dogs are the best in Connecticut, I may not go that far, but they certainly are very good and worth a visit.
