The fries tasted like they were refried from earlier in the day or even the day before. The chicken was rather salty but edible. The fish also tasted like it was reheated from another day, maybe even microwaved. Not exactly sure but it sure did not taste fresh! My Wife and I were very disappointed as we spent $50+ dollars to eat lunch from this spot and it was subpar. That's the risk you take when trying something new tho. The plantains were the best thing we got from this place. The spinach and cheese empanadas are loaded with too much cumin! It was an immediate no from my first and only bite! In conclusion, it is safe to say the empanadas are decent enough but as far as anything else, I wouldn't recommend it. We will not be returning to this establishment.

Glenwood Drive-In is a historic family restaurant that opened in Hamden, Connecticut in 1955. It…read morewas founded by Rocky Stone. The property was originally a small drive-in that operated under a different name. Stone purchased the drive-in after working as a Tip-Top salesman and deliveryman. He renamed it "Glenwood" and expanded the menu, hours and the physical building. After Stone passed away in 1960, his son Frank "Wayne" Stone took it over and he continues to run it today. In the early days, the Glenwood had a walk-up service window similar to establishments such as Dairy Queen. Over the years, Wayne remodeled the interior and added an indoor seating area. The menu consists of staples such as footlongs, chili dogs, cheeseburgers, clam strips, lobster rolls, soft shell crab, fries, onion rings, and much more! Although the establishment is no longer a traditional drive-in restaurant, the Glenwood still hosts classic car "Cruise Nights" every Wednesday during the warmer months. In 1985, Wayne's daughter opened "Kelly's Cone Connection": an adjoining ice cream parlor business that is connected to the Glenwood. Although both businesses share the same space, they operate as separate entities. Kelly makes all of her own ice cream, hot fudge, waffle cones, ice cream pies and birthday cakes in house. Customers can expect to choose from about 35 different flavors on any given day. My family and I recently stopped for dinner at Glenwood Drive-In. Growing up in the area, I visited the Glenwood several times throughout my childhood. I also frequently accompanied my father to "Cruise Nights" when he still owned a 1971 Triumph TR6. On this outing, we ordered a variety of menu items including a "Chili Cheese Dog", "Footlong", "Chicken Fingers w/ Fries", and "Fried Shrimp w/ Fries". There's something about those classic menu staples that just really hit the spot. Afterwards, we headed through the adjoining doorway to Kelly's Cone Connection for dessert. It was a special occasion because the ice cream parlor was hosting a meet & greet with Spider-Man himself. The event coincided with the release of a new monthly special called the "Spidey-Sundae" (Firework 250 Poprock ice cream w/ golden Oreos, a frosting and sprinkle rim w/ a cotton candy web, poprocks, & a Spider-Man ring). My sons both had a blast meeting Spider-Man and eating his special ice cream treat. I tried a different monthly special: the "New England Clam Chowder" (sweet cream salted caramel ice cream w/ white chocolate "clams", dried mint, vanilla wafers, white chocolate shell). The presentation was immaculate and the flavor combo was simply divine! If you're looking for classic American drive-in food along with some fantastic ice cream, then head to Glenwood Drive-In and Kelly's Cone Connection!

The place is small and is shaped like an old school diner, located in the corner of an intersection I've passed many times but never noticed the diner. I ordered their churro French toast and chilaquiles. The French toast is everything the hype around it is, and the chilaquiles, my first time trying them ever, were out of this world. The chips were covered in sauce but somehow still crispy, despite how long it took me to get through the dish. I got their freshly squeezed juice of the day which was beet based and I loved it. There is no doubt I'll be going back here, great food and great experience, thank you Agave !

Today was another chance to visit a place I had learned about from the Activity Feed of those I had…read moreadded as friends on Yelp. Now, I have seen this place in passing many times, and this place caught on my radar last winter. Still, you can easily pass by this place no matter what your mode of transportation is because of where it's located. Regardless, I finally decided to make the trip over here today because why not, right? What I will say going into this place is that while the reviews for this particular looked spectacular with 5's across the board, there was still plenty of reason to remain nervous. First was my own fault, but I only brought my phone, so I absolutely needed ApplePay if I was going to be a customer at all. So I asked an employee about it, and they confirmed that indeed ApplePay was accepted. This was enough for me to continue on and start my order. Secondly, just because you see a 5.0 rating on Yelp doesn't mean the place deserves this rating. It could mean that only a handful of people have reviewed it and they all thought highly of it. I will say it is apparently spoken highly of on TikTok from first glances, but we all know how reliable TikTok is, right? Thirdly, there are apparently other locations that don't rate quite as highly as this location does. I guess the point I'm trying to say here is that you need to judge this place for yourself and not based what other people tell you. Anyway, here's what I'm going to tell you about my experience. I actually agree with the other Yelp reviewers here that this is a good place to eat. You just have to be smart about parking if you're driving to get here. I fortunately walked because it's not too far from where I currently live. It's presented in a buffet-style setting, and I hear that this used to be an all-you-can-eat buffet until they switched to pay-per-pound. You pay $10.75 per pound. For me, I cost about $30 since I got a drink and need to eat, especially if I am planning to run long distances. It's a place you have to learn as you order if you're coming in for the first time like I was, but if you're a fan of Brazilian food, this should be well up your alley. The people working the cashiers are nice people and know how to recommend what you want to finish your order. They also are happy to answer any questions you might have, so don't be shy coming here. My order was 2.13 pounds and consisted of a bed of white rice, fried fish, fried plantains, a little salad, two empanadas (one chicken and one cheese), and some chicken sausage recommended in house. You can actually see some of this food like the chicken sausage be cooked on the spot might I add. I also got the red dragonfruit to drink. I will say that the only thing I would nitpick about my order are the empanadas. They felt a bit skimpy to eat, especially the cheese one, so I probably wouldn't get those again. Other than that, all the food I ordered was very flavorful and well worth the money. Nothing ruined the rice, and everything tasted as it should. My favorite was probably the chicken sausage with the fried fish coming in at a close second place. I will say the dragonfruit drink is very refreshing, though it did admittedly taste a lot more pink than what I am used to. The drink is definitely worth it if it's your thing, but I find it to be an acquired taste. Overall, I would actually rate this a 4.5, but I will round it up to a 5. The friendly service and good food make this more than worth the trip no matter how you get there, and I would love to try more things that are served here.
