I've had better beef empanadas; they tend to be a bit too greasy for my taste. However, the service is excellent, and the lady at the front is always very kind.

I've seen this place a couple of times driving on Dixwell. Curiosity caused me to drive down the narrow two way street due to the small colorful establishment with a waving flag outside. I made a note and was determined to try it.. eventually. I finally tried it yesterday. They have a few offerings, but I was there for the empanadas only. I decided on two. Shrimp & Crab and the Philly. Both were seasoned to perfection! They also came with an optional empanada sauce. Warning.. the sauce is very spicy, but I enjoy the heat. Service was fast and friendly. Had the weather been better, I would've taken advantage of the very limited outside tables. It's really a takeout spot, as the name suggests. The shrimp were plump and the empanada was nicely stuffed. The pastry was also lightly seasoned. I'll be going back, as there are several varieties. My friend said the salmon was delicious.

Hi This was my first time and it was decent. Not my favorite but go check it out. The crust was a little too greasy and the fillings had not much flavor. The sauce I got wasn't much help. I had to kick it up a notch with my own go to sauce as you will see in the pictures. Everyone's taste buds are unique so go check them out and you may have a different opinion. Go and tell us your experience.

Just passing through town on our way stopped to get some gas. See this tiny little shop across from the gas station, and decided to grab some snacks on the go. BEST. DECISION. EVER!!! The empanada pastry is BEYOND delicious. Buttery in flavor, not flaky per se, but melt in your mouth good! I would actually eat this without any filling, but the filling is what made it even better - seasoned to perfection without being overwhelming, or too spicy. Highly recommend this place and will definitely be returning here if I'm ever driving through!!! SIMPLY DELICIOUS!!!

I've passed by a few times but today was the first time I stopped in on the way home. They have an extensive menu of empanadas and several other Latin dishes. It was great to see so many non-meat choices. I got spinach & cheese, veggie, mozzarella and shrimp (fried) empanadas. They were all delicious and quite big. I'll definitely need to come back to try the baked empanadas. I also bought the mango cheesecake. I'll update this and post a pic when I eat it later. This is mainly a take out place (this the name grab & go) but they do have a couple of outside tables under a covered awning/roof. There's also a walk-up window in case you don't want to go inside. A very unassuming place that I'll definitely be back to.

Wow best chicken empanadas I ever had in my life! And the shrimp&crab empanada is delicious too!

My only complaint is that I didn't buy more! My co workers and I are mostly all Spanish and were a little skeptical about a place called Grab & Go empanadas but we're quickly hushed with one bite of these. We tried the Shrimp and crab and the philly cheese. The shrimp and crab was so different and had a great flavor too it. Go check out my full review on instagram at vicarious.eats later this week.

The empanadas here are so flavorful and fresh. We frequent this establishment once a month when we're in the neighborhood.

We tried to get in yesterday but it was super crowded and we didn't want to wait amongst a lot of people (too much sickness going around). However, I wish we had gone, because our breakfast wasn't anywhere as good as today. I started with a Carmel latte which was really good. I had the croissant French toast which was utterly amazing! I have to say that I am NOT a breakfast person. I'm not a fan of eggs, but I will eat them and I hate to start the day with a sugar bomb! However, the croissant French toast was a true delight. It came topped with fresh, not frozen sugary stuff, beautiful juicy strawberries, a nice light whipped cream, and a not so sugary chocolate sauce on the side. It did have a lot of whipped cream so I loved that to the side. It was served with syrup but I didn't use any. The flavor of the croissant with the strawberries was enough for me. I barely dipped it in the chocolate. It was delectable! I've also had their Irish Benny on another trip which was amazing and the pumpkin pancakes. There is NO other breakfast place where I cannot make a decision because there are so many delicious items to choose from. And, I know that anything I choose is going to be utterly amazing. Their portions are big and their prices are very fair for what your get. I felt like I had a whole pint of strawberries on my croissant. My husband had the meat lovers omelet with oatmeal. He said everything was perfect. The staff is very friendly and very attentive. This is a typical breakfast place. It's not fancy but friendly and clean. And everyone seems happy! The kind of place I like. You have to get here early or you'll have a wait. I say the wait is well worth it. We went at 8:30 on a holiday and were able to be seated immediately. That's the first time that's happened though. I want to try their lunch, but their breakfast is so amazing, I would probably order breakfast for lunch which is something I NEVER do! If we had this place near us (we're from Philly), it would be the death of me! I'd be going all the time.

Brian stone was closer but I skipped over it based on the rating and the pictures of the decor. We drove a little farther to State street Cafe and it was too busy, so we drove to Brown Stone. Brown Stone had the same vibe and feel as soon as we went In. I loved seeing the locals and the staff immediately greeted us and attended to us, bringing some coffee. Onto the drinks and food which were so delicious and truly enjoyable. I got the Beachy Bee Iced Latte special, which is a honey vanilla latte with a coconut cold foam and toasted coconut on top (simply divine)! My fiancé got the cappuccino which was made just to his liking, and he's a coffee connoisseur. For food, I had the Bumble, which I highly recommend, with scrambled eggs, subbed with the gluten free sourdough bread (+$2 up-charge) and cheddar instead of American cheese. It's served all day and had so much flavor with that garlic butter, and the seasoned steak. Yum! If you are gluten free like me, you will appreciate that they have the gluten free sourdough bread or a gluten free wrap to substitute with. My partner had the Basic Bee with bacon and thought it was flavorful with light and fluffy scrambled eggs that complimented the bacon well. I normally try to give places the benefit of the doubt, but our experience at The Bees Knees Bistro…read morein Wallingford was honestly very disappointing and upsetting. My family and I arrived while it was raining outside with our young daughters in strollers, expecting to sit down for a meal and get out of the weather. Instead, we were told we could not come in with the strollers and essentially felt unwelcome the moment we walked through the door. As parents of babies who are still too young to sit safely in high chairs on their own, the strollers are not optional for us , they are necessary. We were not being disruptive, rude, or inconsiderate. We were simply trying to have a meal as a family. Rather than attempting to accommodate us or show any understanding, we were left feeling like having children made us an inconvenience. What made the situation even worse was the fact that it was pouring outside. Any level of kindness or flexibility would have gone a long way. Instead, we felt embarrassed, frustrated, and honestly shocked by the lack of compassion and customer service. Families with young children already face enough challenges going out in public, and experiences like this make it even harder. We ended up leaving and taking our business somewhere else that was far more welcoming and understanding toward families. It is disappointing because we were genuinely looking forward to trying this restaurant, but first impressions matter. A restaurant does not need to be "kid-centered" to still treat parents and babies with basic respect and decency. I completely understand that restaurants may have space limitations or policies, but there is a respectful and compassionate way to handle situations like this. Instead, the experience came across as cold and dismissive. There are many restaurants in the area that are happy to accommodate families, and moving forward those are the businesses I will continue to support. Unfortunately, after this experience, I will not be returning and would not recommend this restaurant to families with infants or children who still require strollers or extra accommodations. I wont be going back and giving them .you business, nor will I be recommending this place to anyone. Totally rude and discrimination towards those with babies. I did not feel cherished like their website says every guest is. Its sad because this will and im sure does effect their business. I will never give them my business after yesterday. No attempts at accommodating us or evening offering to let us sit outside, lazy staff, but yet there were 3 teenage girls taking names for the wait list. What a joke.
