This was my first time at the Bristol location. I have been to the Oxford Location and remembered how delicious the ice cream was! The service was excellent! It was a beautiful day so there was many people but the menu is huge, the ice cream is freshly made and they have pies and donuts that they sell! The only thing is I wish they had more picnic tables so families can sit .Theres are only a few. And wish they had atleast one bathroom( Porto potty) . That's the only thing. This place has been on my radar for awhile, and I finally got to try it! Upon first impression, Rich Farm offers the typical CT ice cream experience where you stand in line outside and order at a window and then grab a seat to enjoy the ice cream with a nice rural view. They offer a wide variety of options; aside from ice cream, there are sweet and savory pies, as well as cookies. I opted for a molten lava sundae with Razzmanian Devil for my choice of ice cream. I enjoyed it thoroughly, though it isn't the creamiest ice cream I've ever had. The portion sizes were extremely generous. In the photo I attached, my friends ordered small cones and they couldn't finish them! My main complaint with Rich Farm is the wait time. I appreciated that the man at the window was very friendly, but I felt like the service was lacking in terms of speed. Rich Farm packs a lot of ice cream products into their store -Cones, Cups, Fresh , Greek Frozen Yogurt, Ice Cream Cakes, Ice Cream Sandwiches, Ices, No Sugar Added Ice Cream, Quarts & Pints, Shakes, Soft-Serve, Italian ice and Sundaes. Flavors? Their website lists over 100, and although not every single flavor is available every single day, there are some very cool flavors and creative names in their repertoire.  How about Cowabunga (coconut and pineapple ice cream), Jersey Cow (Coffee ice cream with caramel sauce and chocolate chunks), Caramel Macchiato, Chunky Eleaphunky (banana cream ice cream with peanut butter sauce and chocolate chunks), Cinnamon Bun (cinnamon ice cream with marshmallow sauce and graham crackers), and Fluffernutter (peanut butter ice cream with marshmallow sauce). We went for two $4.50 small (single scoop cones), which are really a scoop and a half. My cone was Blueberry Cheesecake with a Coconut topper, and my wife had a Butter Crunch with a Coconut Chocolate Chip topper. I have to say that for $4.50 per cone, they were a big portion and a tremendous value. My Blueberry Cheesecake was great - very flavorful with plenty of blueberries in the mix. Got my order wrong, and ice cream was overly sweet and tasted a bit artificial. I would prefer to see the ingredients posted somewhere like Arethusa does. Here's a little Rich Farm history so you know why and how they are at the top of the list here in Connecticut for ice cream- Rich Farm Ice Cream opened for business on July 3, 1994 by David and Dawn Rich on what is known as Ajello's Farm. The dairy farm was originated five generations ago by Dave's great-grandfather, Raffaele Ajello, on Great Hill in Seymour, Connecticut. In 1950, Ralph's son Thomas purchased 100 acres in Oxford and moved his farm there. Later, in the early '70s, grandsons Don and Dave Rich took over the dairy business and continue to operate the farm today. The ice cream shop was opened by Dave and his wife Dawn, along with their children, to enhance their already existing dairy farm. All of the ice cream is made daily on the farm, using only the highest quality ingredients. And this is no joke. There are so many awesome flavors to choose from and I love that they even have non-dairy options. The Dole Whip was awesome and I saw that they also had Italian Ice as well. The fact that they use an all natural ice cream mix and use no corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup, growth hormones, polysorbates or phosphates, really grabbed my attention. Plus their ice cream is homemade. In addition to their HUGE selection of ice cream flavors, they offer milkshakes, ice cream cakes, fresh baked cookies, pot pie and so much more. I had the butter pecan which is the best I've ever ate. My husband got a cookie dough sundae with peanut butter and hot fudge topping and my two boys got chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches. The cookie sandwiches come in sets of two and you can pick one flavor for the set. Naturally my boys don't agree on flavors so we got a set of chocolate chip cookies stuffed with cookie dough and another set with German chocolate brownie ice cream. You place and pay for your order at one window and pick up your order at another window. They have long lines but the line moves along quickly. The servings are huge! Possibly the best ice cream in these here United States. I especially love the homemade ice cream with fruit; nice big pieces of strawberry, peach, cherry, and spiced apple in the Autumn. The flavors with almonds and walnuts are also exquisite. The autumn menu is hard to beat with pumpkin ice cream that is better than any pie and different varieties of apple spice that will make you fall in love with apples over and over again. I was at this ice cream shop with my 3 children when a very rude staff member told me I had to "do better" at parenting because one of my children had climbed into a low growing tree. There are no signs indicating the trees are off limits. I quickly complied with the request to get my kid, but I thought the insult at my parenting was unnecessary. I don't plan on going back, which is a shame because the kids did enjoy the ice cream. There are plenty of other establishments that don't insult their customers. read more

I was thrilled when I learned a Richfarm location was coming closer to me than Oxford. I stopped in before the shop closes for the season... was worried flavor choices would be limited since they close in 2 days, but the menu was full of their regular flavors, plus multiple seasonal items. The staff was very helpful in explaining what flavors included and allowing you to sample before deciding. The consistency of the ice cream was extremely creamy and smooth. The whipped cream was airy and light, just could go for it to be a little sweeter, but I know a lot of places prefer to keep their dairy as pure as possible. I loved the option of getting a seasonal cone! So fun! My cone ended up being a Christmas theme- Seasonal Dipped Waffle cone, Santa's Cookie and Eggnog Ice cream, topped with whipped cream. Love that everything is made by them. Will definitely be back when they reopen! Update: They reopened, everything was just as amazing if not better and the whipped cream was perfectly sweet! If you want some good ole fashion ice cream with a taste that is hard to beat, Rich Farms is the place to go. I am a frequent visitor of the original Oxford location and when I heard Rich Farms purchased Minor's Farm (a historical landmark to Bristol that sold pies) the countdown began until I could make the shorter drive to try this new Rich Farm's location. Results are in!!! I visited this evening with the family. SUCCESS! It's only been officially open for 7 days (July 20th 2019 was official opening day according to FB) and I fully expected some line madness as its A) Rich Farms and B) its got the exciting "newness" factor. When I drove up to new location I began to realize that side of road parking was necessary as I saw cars lined up along the edge. They have a parking lot in the back but it was full. No problem. I parked with family and walked just about 6 car lengths to the entrance of the building. What they did on the outside to renovate the old Minor Farm building looks really great! They will need to add some more outside seating but I'm sure thats part of their rolling changes moving forward. Inside looked great when I walked in (had a textured floor and that rustic unfinished door frame look) but you can see they have some minor details they still needed to finish in the coming months. Unlike the Oxford location that has an ATM and is Cash Only, this location has card readers and let's you pay with card (that's a ). This also speeds up the waiting vs. the only cash option. Oddly enough. The line was out the door not a far distance (maybe 15 people) but MUCH shorter than I'm used to for their other location. Within 5 mins, they took my family's orders. They were out of my go-to Cookie dough today BUT it allowed me to try their Funfetti flavor. They dont have indoor seating but they do have a waiting area room area to the side of the registers that you can eat/stand in. Once we placed our order we waited to the side about 8-10 minutes for our ice cream. The ice cream was AWESOME. I was worried about inconsistencies between locations but my taste buds couldnt tell the difference. This ice cream is worth a 20-30 minute wait in my opinion (If it came to that but it didnt). I will gladly be back for more Rich Farm's ice cream in the future. Dont let those 2 star reviews fool you. This place although it has some logistics to work out for capacity, the reasonably priced high flavor ice cream is worth any minor hassle you might face to get you mouth on their delicious treats. I'm sure there facility will improve even more in the coming months. read more

We stopped here on our way home and it was super crowded. I was anxious to try this place because they just opened. The parking is a little tricky, but luckily we found a spot right up front. When you walk in, they take your order at the registers and then you give your name and wait until your order is called. There aren't any tables inside to wait so everyone just stands around. They do have 1 picnic table outside in front. For our party of 5, we waited about just under 10 mins for our order. We got the one picnic table outside and enjoyed our ice cream. The ice cream is delicious and so creamy. One of the BEST chocolate milkshakes I've ever had. It was worth the wait! My husband was very happy to find Toasted Almond on the everyday menu.
