Mia was a great instructor and gave us a great experience. Friendly and accommodating. Mia brought out so many "toppings" we could add to our ice cream to get the flavor we want for your own gallon of ice cream. The table held Chips Ahoy, Oreos, Peanut Butter cups, chocolate chip cookie dough bits, brownie bits, m&ms, caramel, fudge... there were more! So fun and we even got any kind of ice cream upon leaving because our ice cream had to be taken home to freeze and not yet ready to eat. We are so enjoying our ice cream gallons! read more

Tis the season for ice cream!! I tried out Frisbies for the 1st time. The noise level was low & it was pleasant to sit & enjoy your dessert. The service was fast & friendly, and we each for 3 scoops each, plus hot fudge. The Ice cream was cold & sweet, but frankly not that good. Neither of us could identify the different flavors. The only way we could identify the Nutella was because we both got it. It resembled a light mocha with chocolate chunks, but tasted milky. Meh!! I also tried the Chocolate Peanut Butter & the Pina Colada with Rum. No complaints on the Peanut Butter, but I couldn't even tasted the Pina Colada. Besides the Nutella, my friend got the Heavenly Chocolate & the Butter Pecan. She had the same complaint as me, the Butter Pecan stood out from the others, but only because of the nuts. Today, we visited the OG Frisbie's at 951 Farmington Avenue near the Farmington-New Britain border. They have around 30 flavors in their "made daily on premises" arsenal. I asked our super helpful server what their best seller was and he quickly answered with "Blue Devil Cookie Monster", a blue vanilla ice cream with Oreos and chocolate chip cookies. As tempting as that sounded, a few of their flavors caught my eye -namely Raspberry Cheesecake and Connecticut Coconut Almond. Unfortunately, both flavors were on today's "Out of Stock" list with ten others. My third choice was Pulaski Pistachio "Made with real pistachio paste and pistachio pieces" and since it was available I had a small cone for $5. The ice cream was very good- rich and creamy and smooth with plenty of pistachio chunks. My wife had a Plainville Peanut Butter, and I sure enjoyed my taste of it. The PB flavor was deep and quite honestly, fantastic. There are plenty of seats inside, so we grabbed a table and enjoyed our cones with a people watching parade of customers. We saw families coming in for cones and dishes, and one big guy who looked like an NFL lineman cooling off with a big chocolate shake. We visited Frisbie's for the first time to take their ice cream class! My husband and I had such a fun time making our own flavors. The owner was our instructor, and he was great at explaining the process and making it an easy experience. We came home with Biscoff coconut almond and peanut butter brownie flavors that we love! We'll be working through our gallons for a while! Loved that the class includes a build your own sundae too since you have to leave your ice cream overnight to freeze. I tried few different flavors and all kinda tastes same. Pistachio didn't really taste the pistachio maybe the nuts were in there not really sure, banana had chocolate chips and big chips was too much for me not combo in flavors I wanted. I wanted a big banana flavor and it was cream flavor first little in background of the banana flavor. Strawberry looked more tasty but still it's all cream. Love ice cream especially when made with fresh ingredients and flavors really come through. This was kinda let down. This is different in its own way. We scooped up some homemade, fun named, Connecticut inspired, unique flavors from Frisbie's Dairy Barn in New Britain. They have a few other locations in Bloomingfield, in the Parkville Marketing in Hartford, and shops in RI and MA. All their ice cream is made here in New Britain barn. We got scoops of Rum Raisin, Vegan Pina Colada with Rum, Newington Nutella and Little Poland. These were all so good that they sell pints for you to take home. Rum Raisin had juicy raisins and the rum ice cream rum was sweet and warm. Newington Nutella had chocolate pieces with a Nutella flavored ice cream. Little Poland was probably my favorite flavor of the day. It was a vanilla/custard flavored ice cream and the best way I can described it is that it tastes like the filling of a cream puff. Cream puffs are one of my favorite desserts. You could not tell the Pina Colada flavor was vegan--they had other vegan options and an entire list of allergens of what ice creams what. This list was extremely helpful for me to decide my ice creams because their are ingredients I have to avoid. Frisbie's parking lot had plenty of spaces for parking and large seating areas inside and out. I can tell they want you to stick around and enjoy your ice cream. The staff was very helpful and we learned that they have some yummy seasonal flavors for the fall that we will need to come back to try! Since recently finding out Frisbee's is only 15 minutes from our house, we've quickly made them part of our ice cream rotation. Absolutely love their unique flavors named after towns with my personal favorite being the Newington Nutella. It's hard to find a GOOD Nutella flavor and this one absolutely hits. Creamy, almost soft.. it's perfect! Their Little Poland Lod Smietankowvy flavor is really unique - it's a very creamy vanilla made with extra eggs, almost like a custard! We recently came here for sundaes and tried their PB sauce which was thicker than I expected, more like a hot fudge consistency than a sauce, but awesome flavor! Frisbie's Dairy Barn ("FDB") had been on my radar, but when I heard they were coming to Parkville Market, FDB had my full attention. Since my wife and I had a mid-afternoon lunch, it was the perfect time to skip dinner and try FDB. FDB is in New Britain near Stanley Quarter Park. That's a new part of New Britain for me. They have great branding and art. The teal, maroon and white in their unique font, the S's that look like smiles and the ice cream cone I's all make for a great sign and logo. The ice cream flavors are listed on individual boards with creative local names, unique fonts and flavor-related art. Terrific stuff that I appreciate. FDB's white building and slanted and lined charcoal grey roof looks new, modern and welcoming. The outside is filled with teal and white Adirondack chairs for comfortable eating. FDB pays attention to details that improve the experience. The ice cream is very good too. FDB makes its ice cream. I ordered a scoop of Stanley Park Strawberry and a scoop of Blue Devil Cookie Monster. The Strawberry tasted fresh, light and soft. It was one of the better Strawberry ice creams I've had. The Blue Devil Cookie Monster is blue-dyed vanilla with pieces of Oreos and chocolate chip cookies. It looked great and tasted very good. I also photographed my wife's Sundae with a scoop of Chocolate Peanut Butter Parks, a scoop of Southington Salted Caramel, hot fudge, whipped cream and M&M's. Driving home one night and decided to stop for ice cream. We both got the coconut almond chip. One cup and a small cone. The ice cream was delicious. It was supposed to be hard scoop but was very soft, almost like a fluffy marshmallow. They were $5.00 each, but they were super stingy on the scoop. I could have eaten 2 of them. read more

Very basic spot for home-made ice cream, with both indoor and outdoor seating. They also have a window for their outdoor ice cream. There is cream is VERY creamy and tastes more milk-y than your average ice cream. They have a lot of creative flavors, but they don't have a ton of the classics. Since they did not have my go-to ice cream, chocolate chip, I got a vanilla ice cream with chocolate chips on top. This make-shift adjustment was still disappointing however, since the chocolate chips were the generic cookie chocolate chips that you would get from a grocery store. They did give me a ton of them though, which I appreciated. There cones were not fresh, and my waffle cone was cracking and about to break as I ate my ice cream. If you want hard cream they have array of flavors and they look quite tasty. I prefer soft serve abf their machine is always broken. The staff was very welcoming and nice. They allowed me to sample several flavors as I perused through their extensive homemade ice cream list. The interior is very spacious, clean, and has a variety of seating. They also have seating available outside. I really loved seeing that some of their ice cream flavors are named after Connecticut towns. You can get your ice cream in a cup, cone, or pint. I ordered two cups; I got the heavenly chocolate in one cup and the Plainville Peanut Butter with hot fudge in a second cup. read more

Who doesn't love ice cream especially on a warm day. Since the weathers been so amazing, I decided to venture out after dinner in search of a new ice cream joint. The space and decor of Frisbie's is pleasant, clean and inviting. There is a large blackboard menu overhead which provides the sundae and milkshake specials. Frisbie's provides the basic flavors and also some of their own creations which look amazing. After much pondering and thought I finally decided on the Stanley With The Works sundae. This consisted of 3 flavors and 3 toppings. For my flavors I decided on chocolate chip cookie dough, cookies n cream and the newington nutella (shop flavor). Toppings consisted of twix, heath bar and chocolate fudge. My flavor combination was a winner. The newington nutella is the cat's meow!! We love this ice cream store, plenty of parking, great flavors named after local spots/places/towns/teams. Nice seating area, now they have added on a Subway like sandwich/salad area. They have pints to go, my daughters tried an Oreo shake which was delish, a two scoop of Oreo and cake batter yum, and I had the black raspberry (who doesn't like purple ice cream?) which had actual berries in it and chocolate chips I added the hot fudge to make it gluttonously good. So, I really want to love this place. I like what they've done with the added food options, but haven't tried it yet. I like the local tie in with all the flavor names. But I've tried several flavors now and have a couple opinions that I think others may have issue with, but here it goes. I really think these guys are missing the flavor bus. All the flavors I've tried are good, but a bit bland or washed out (where's my thesaurus?). It feels like one of their profit centers is flavor cost reduction. I mean when I think of my favorites around the state, there is NO compromising the flavor; Canton Creamery and Grass Roots pop to mind immediately. Specifically on this trip, the Nutella flavor was there, but barely. Your first clue is the color. And the mint is of the spear variety and just not to my liking at all. To summarize, if you like subtle flavor, this is the place for you. If you're looking for flavors that pop, keep looking. read more
