Tis the season for ice cream!! I tried out Frisbies for the 1st time. The noise level was low & it was pleasant to sit & enjoy your dessert. The service was fast & friendly, and we each for 3 scoops each, plus hot fudge. The Ice cream was cold & sweet, but frankly not that good. Neither of us could identify the different flavors. The only way we could identify the Nutella was because we both got it. It resembled a light mocha with chocolate chunks, but tasted milky. Meh!! I also tried the Chocolate Peanut Butter & the Pina Colada with Rum. No complaints on the Peanut Butter, but I couldn't even tasted the Pina Colada. Besides the Nutella, my friend got the Heavenly Chocolate & the Butter Pecan. She had the same complaint as me, the Butter Pecan stood out from the others, but only because of the nuts. She said it was cold & sweet, but meh as well. The summer staff was sweet, but I would not come back here for the ice cream, not with so many other places with great flavors. Happy hunting.. PS. These are supposedly the same size..

"I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!" Stopped by Frisbie's Dairy Barn in New Britain while exploring my soon to be new state, and it did not disappoint! I had the Simsbury S'mores with whipped cream and strawberries in a homemade waffle bowl -- absolutely divine. My daughter loved her Banana Pudding + Simsbury S'mores combo with chocolate syrup, and my son stuck to his classic favorite: Cookies and Cream. Generous scoops, friendly service, and seriously some of the best ice cream I've had. Highly recommend!

"Sundown's gonna catch me Down behind the barn In my sweet baby's arms" (Steve Miller Band) There are three Frisbie's Dairy Barn shops in CT and MA, plus you can get their excellent ice cream in four independently owned Connecticut shops. Today, we visited the OG Frisbie's at 951 Farmington Avenue near the Farmington-New Britain border. They have around 30 flavors in their "made daily on premises" arsenal. I asked our super helpful server what their best seller was and he quickly answered with "Blue Devil Cookie Monster", a blue vanilla ice cream with Oreos and chocolate chip cookies. As tempting as that sounded, a few of their flavors caught my eye -namely Raspberry Cheesecake and Connecticut Coconut Almond. Unfortunately, both flavors were on today's "Out of Stock" list with ten others. My third choice was Pulaski Pistachio "Made with real pistachio paste and pistachio pieces" and since it was available I had a small cone for $5. The ice cream was very good- rich and creamy and smooth with plenty of pistachio chunks. My wife had a Plainville Peanut Butter, and I sure enjoyed my taste of it. The PB flavor was deep and quite honestly, fantastic. There are plenty of seats inside, so we grabbed a table and enjoyed our cones with a people watching parade of customers. We saw families coming in for cones and dishes, and one big guy who looked like an NFL lineman cooling off with a big chocolate shake. I'm sure he enjoyed that as much as we enjoyed our cones.

We visited Frisbie's for the first time to take their ice cream class! My husband and I had such a fun time making our own flavors. The owner was our instructor, and he was great at explaining the process and making it an easy experience. We came home with Biscoff coconut almond and peanut butter brownie flavors that we love! We'll be working through our gallons for a while! Loved that the class includes a build your own sundae too since you have to leave your ice cream overnight to freeze. Quality ice cream and amazing people! We'll be back!

$11.00 for a pre-packaged pint? Whaaaaaa? And to add further insult to my injured credit card; I purchased 3 pints! Sorry, the Panna ice cream is good, but not THAT good. Mixing is visible from the front counter and just did not appear to be clean and well mastered, in other words messy.

    Fun menu of ice creams.

We scooped up some homemade, fun named, Connecticut inspired, unique flavors from Frisbie's Dairy Barn in New Britain. They have a few other locations in Bloomingfield, in the Parkville Marketing in Hartford, and shops in RI and MA. All their ice cream is made here in New Britain barn. We got scoops of Rum Raisin, Vegan Pina Colada with Rum, Newington Nutella and Little Poland. These were all so good that they sell pints for you to take home. Rum Raisin had juicy raisins and the rum ice cream rum was sweet and warm. Newington Nutella had chocolate pieces with a Nutella flavored ice cream. Little Poland was probably my favorite flavor of the day. It was a vanilla/custard flavored ice cream and the best way I can described it is that it tastes like the filling of a cream puff. Cream puffs are one of my favorite desserts. You could not tell the Pina Colada flavor was vegan--they had other vegan options and an entire list of allergens of what ice creams what. This list was extremely helpful for me to decide my ice creams because their are ingredients I have to avoid. Frisbie's parking lot had plenty of spaces for parking and large seating areas inside and out. I can tell they want you to stick around and enjoy your ice cream. The staff was very helpful and we learned that they have some yummy seasonal flavors for the fall that we will need to come back to try! Overall, if you are from Connecticut and want to try a great ice cream shop, give Frisbie's a try!

The weather was perfect for some ice cream today so I officially had my first ice cream for this season!! The girls were very nice and served the 4 cups of ice cream very fast. Not that many people around 1 so it was nice and quiet, plenty of seating inside and outside. The kids size was very generous and more than enough for me!

Since recently finding out Frisbee's is only 15 minutes from our house, we've quickly made them part of our ice cream rotation. Absolutely love their unique flavors named after towns with my personal favorite being the Newington Nutella. It's hard to find a GOOD Nutella flavor and this one absolutely hits. Creamy, almost soft.. it's perfect! Their Little Poland Lod Smietankowvy flavor is really unique - it's a very creamy vanilla made with extra eggs, almost like a custard! We recently came here for sundaes and tried their PB sauce which was thicker than I expected, more like a hot fudge consistency than a sauce, but awesome flavor! Their Strawberry ice cream was a little too icy, unsure if it was sitting for too long or if that's what you get when ordering a fruity flavor. I'll probably stick to the Nutella!

Frisbie's Dairy Barn ("FDB") had been on my radar, but when I heard they were coming to Parkville Market, FDB had my full attention. Since my wife and I had a mid-afternoon lunch, it was the perfect time to skip dinner and try FDB. FDB is in New Britain near Stanley Quarter Park. That's a new part of New Britain for me. They have great branding and art. The teal, maroon and white in their unique font, the S's that look like smiles and the ice cream cone I's all make for a great sign and logo. The ice cream flavors are listed on individual boards with creative local names, unique fonts and flavor-related art. Terrific stuff that I appreciate. FDB's white building and slanted and lined charcoal grey roof looks new, modern and welcoming. The outside is filled with teal and white Adirondack chairs for comfortable eating. FDB pays attention to details that improve the experience. The ice cream is very good too. FDB makes its ice cream. I ordered a scoop of Stanley Park Strawberry and a scoop of Blue Devil Cookie Monster. The Strawberry tasted fresh, light and soft. It was one of the better Strawberry ice creams I've had. The Blue Devil Cookie Monster is blue-dyed vanilla with pieces of Oreos and chocolate chip cookies. It looked great and tasted very good. I also photographed my wife's Sundae with a scoop of Chocolate Peanut Butter Parks, a scoop of Southington Salted Caramel, hot fudge, whipped cream and M&M's. It looked beautiful, and the colorful dots on the ice cream cups are fun. I'm looking forward to some post meal scoops of Frisbie's Dairy Barn at the Market. Welcome to the show!

$5 For kids $5.50 small one scoop/split $7 regular $9 large. Toppings are a $1 additional, which I think are high prices. See you can get soft serve or hard ice cream with cleverly created interesting names after hometown New Britain, local towns and sites. I got Berlin Black raspberry with DARK CHOCOLATE CHUNKS and chunks of raspberry fruit and STANLEY PARK STRAWBERRY with chunks of strawberry fruit. One drawback was the unfortunate frozen ice crystals when they rinse the scoop to change scooping flavors to serve. Sundae $8.50 -$12, Float or milk shake offered. Also sorbet and lemon ice. Avery's flavored bottled soda for sale. Some inside seating approximately 10 tables.

This is a really nice icecream parlor. They have creative flavors and milkshakes. The names are definitely all about New Britain. The names are of parks, streets, monuments etc. Great idea to do so. The employees are very friendly and they have plenty of tables to enjoy your treats at . Today I tried bitter pecan and peanut butter . Pretty good ! My friend had a huge banana split. He loved it . No inside dining yet due to restaurant restrictions for covid.

In the case of Tulmeadow Farm and Lacroix's Homemade (I'm posting the same update for both), I have to admit that I had it somewhat wrong. Both Tulmeadow and Lacroix's made @cticecreamtour's Top 15 CT Creameries. My original reviews for both Tulmeadow and Lacroix's were both good btw. I just didn't initially connect with the flavors I tried in the way that I did with my other CT favorites. Since those initial reviews, everything I tried at each has been a banger. At Lacroix's, I've now had Banana ice cream, Peanut Butter Cup ice cream, Biscoff ice cream and a Sundae with coconut caramel ice cream and a S'mores flavor. The sundae with hot fudge, peanut butter sauce, whipped cream and maybe the best cherry I've ever had in a sundae (don't know what they did) was great, but it's harder to pick out the flavors of the ice cream with all the delicious toppings. The ice cream seemed very good though. The Peanut Butter Cup flavor was outstanding. Very rich with big gobs of cups. The banana flavor was amazingly realistic. And the Biscoff was very good too. While Lacroix's is very popular and there is always a steady flow of business, I like that I get access to the friendly owners there too. Lacroix's is 5 Stars and I'm updating my review.

We traveled farther but we didn't have better.

From an early age, DiMauro had a passion for baking. In 2000, he graduated first in his class from Johnson & Wales University and received the Edward D. Fuller Award. Afterwards, DiMauro spent several years working in the hospitality industry: from hotels and resorts to restaurants, confectioneries and bakeries. In 2007, he saw the need for healthy frozen desserts since there are very few places outside New York City that had authentic Italian Ices. That same year, he launched his own Italian Ice brand where he produced authentic small-batch Italian Ice crafted from fresh, high-quality ingredients. All flavors are fat, dairy and cholesterol free. In addition to classic Italian Ice flavors, DiMauro also crafts specialty flavors such as Lemon-Basil or Pear-Cardamom. The signature Chet's Italian Ice pushcarts can be found at various festivals and farmer's markets throughout Connecticut, as well as private events such as weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs or fundraisers. My family and I recently sampled some of Chet's Italian Ice when we were attended a "Touch-a-Truck" event in Madison. After eating a pizza from another food truck that was there, Italian Ice sounded like a nice option for dessert. My wife had previously seen a Chet's pushcart at the Wallingford Garden Market. Customers are allowed to combine flavors, so my wife and sons all had "Watermelon" combined with "Blue Raspberry" , and I had "Lemon" (made w/ Meyer lemons) combined with "Chocolate Fudge" (made w/ premium French chocolate). Of my choice, DiMauro remarked, "That's a classic flavor combo!" I told him that I love to pair lemon with chocolate because it reminds me of chocolate lemon pie: a specialty at New Haven-area Italian bakeries. We were all very happy with our choices.
