Their sandwiches incredible and are served with your choice of potato salad, pasta salad, tossed salad or caesar salad. They have the softest and freshest hard rolls I've ever had, and the Godfather Sandwich is divine! Met a friend for lunch and she chose this restaurant based on her sister's input. What a fantastic find! Small, quaint restaurant, with exceptionally good food. Paul, our waiter extraordinaire, couldn't have been more pleasant and engaging. The fresh bread was fantastic. I had the Irish beef soup and was amazed. It was perfect and I grew up having a lot of that from an Irish Grandmother who was an exceptional cook. I thought i might need more so I ordered the chicken pot pie. That was scrumptious but half came home with me. My friend got the buffalo chicken salad. Fresh vegetables with a nicely flavored chicken. We split one of the carrot cupcake with is delightful cream cheese frosting. We were pleasantly surprised when the halves were served on two plates, well just see the pictures below . I was actually picking up some food for my daughter next door when I looked at the daily specials list posted in the window and saw a chicken francaise with fresh mozzarella and bacon wrap listed. I've never seen this on any menu anywhere and since it contained a few of my favorite foods I had to try it. Very glad I did! I got it in the whole wheat wrap. It was excellent. What lured me here was the surprisingly low prices, which allowed me to indulge a craving for food-I-don't-have-ingredients-for on a day when otherwise I'd be making squeaking little budget noises. I am now a fan of their crab cakes. The burger of the day was creative and certainly I wouldn't have made it any better at home. This is very pleasant grown-up food, I think a tad lighter than some of the bar-type restaurants down here in New Haven. During this time of troubles, they're doing family dinners for 4 for $45, various dishes that are comforting and far too much work to make at home. read more

You Guys. Today I ditched. I have never in my life done something like that and I struggled with whether or not to do it but ultimately I had to. I hadn't paid yet, and while my sandwich was being made I had a real internal struggle with what to do, so I turned around and quickly scooted out the door. Here is what happened: I placed my order at the cash register and stepped to the side to wait. While standing to the side, the person that took my order received payment and handed off lunch to two different guests. After he finished serving the others he turned around to the "sandwich station" and proceeded to make my deli style sandwich. He reached up to grab the roll and started slicing the deli meat. Without gloves. Without washing his hands. I watched carefully, horrified, thinking maybe I missed it, maybe he DID wash his hands. But as I glanced around, I didn't see a sink within a reasonable distance for me to have missed it. At this point my internal dialog is like this: OMG what am I gonna do? What do I do?? I am not one for confrontation and I was incredibly uncomfortable and lets be real... freaking out. So I did what I could. And that was spin around, run out the door and get the heck out of there. Was it the right thing to do? Probably not. I probably should have said something. But even had I mentioned it and asked for him to remake the sandwich, I wouldn't have enjoyed the sandwich because I would have been thinking about what happened before I stepped into the store, during prep time. I'd like to think this was a onetime incident but either way, I can't go back. read more

When is was in my early 20's my old boss ate here everyday. He intorduced me to it more than 15 years ago and I've been fond of it ever since. It's a small family owned Italian / American Bistro, popular with the parents of the students at Quinnipiac University. They serve nice Italian dishes like chicken saltimboca and penne ala vodka. Great burgers; my favorite is the cajun burger. They even have a few vegeterian options- grilled veggie pannini's and such, all fantastic. Freshly preparred, with quality ingredients and a homecooked feel. You can easily get in and out of there in an hour on your lunch break or call ahead for takeout. Not a bad idea to stop in early and take something home for dinner either. Be sure to take home a pound of macaroni salad. It's among the best I've had. I keep a headstash in the fridge as often as I can, but I can assure you it doesn't last long. read more

Have seen this place 5 min from my house for years but I work long hours and it's never open when I'm home. Recently got soup to go there and went straight home to find it wasn't thoroughly heated. I ordered delivery from here through Silver Spoon. Everything I ordered was great. I had a tuna melt, spinach salad, butternut squash soup, and potato salad. After I received the food, I realized i ordered too much--but that's okay. I'll just save half for dinner. Everything was prepared wonderfully and the ingredients were all top quality. Opened for 30 years this place is a little hole in the wall with some of best homemade food I've ever had. They have been catering for Quinnipiac for years. Everything is made fresh daily and the specials are out of this world. This place has everything your looking for and they currently run a delivery service too! (great for college kids) If you aren't feeling a sandwich, you can get daily meals like chicken francaise, homemade meatballs, and crab cakes that are out of this world(literally the best I've had, with amazing aioli) and you must try the macaroni salad! Went to the Everyday Gourmet for the first time yesterday with a group of my students with disabilities. The food was excellent. I had a panini with pasta salad and really enjoyed it. I was very disappointed in the service, however. The server approached my students, who were not yet finished eating their lunch, and told them he needed their table and was bringing their check out. They were all planning on ordering dessert, but felt rushed and uncomfortable. They were not causing any problems, they were sitting quietly. A party of four had recently come in and were waiting for the table, but there were 2 tables of two that the party could have been seated at. My students had the right to sit and enjoy their lunch, they shouldn't have had to rush so another group could sit. The good food was overshadowed by my disappointment in the server. read more
