If looking for lunch, such a great menu. We did the French onion and the hog. We always split so we can try a little of everything. The hog was my favorite of the two but they were both spot on. Happened to go on national grilled cheese day so they had a $5 special as well as the food truck out front which you can catch at various places. Service was quick and friendly and they even have a nice selection of cheeses you can sample and purchase on the side of the register. Craving a beef on weck, all suggested Vinny's Deli in Wallingford Ct…read more A Beef on Weck is a sandwich consisting of thinly sliced, rare roast beef, some horseradish sauce, a little au jus, served on a warmed and toasted bun, topped with caraway seeds amongst other spices. This is a sandwich that originated in Buffalo, New York, that I had the honor of eating on a regular basis when I worked in Buffalo. When this sandwich is prepared correctly, not too many types of sandwiches can top this. So expectations were high going to Vinny's Deli. And there it was on the menu, the all nighter # 54, in its glory, the beef on weck. The order was placed for two of them, as my friend Rick joined me for lunch. He never had one and was really looking forward to what he exactly was getting into. I also ordered storemade potato salad, and one of those famous oatmeal raisin cookies. I also had a lime ricky soda, and my friend had a root beer. These sodas were specially made for Vinny's and were presented so well. The total for this order of two sandwiches potato salad cookie and two sodas came to $38. I left a 15% tip. The food arrived, and let me tell you this beef on weck was simply amazing. Warm sliced roast beef that just melted in my mouth and pulled apart so easy, accompanied by just the right amount of horseradish sauce, on a slightly toasted and warmed bun. This was perfection. This was love. The potato salad which was store made also was delicious, and I liked it because it didn't have onions in it. This was on point. The two made for a store sodas were absolutely delicious. I loved that lime ricky, as it was a great choice. Now for the co-star... you must get the oatmeal raisin cookie for dessert. This was probably the best cookie of this nature I've ever had; so soft, so delicious, so made with love. Located on Center Street in Wallingford, Vinny's is easy to find, and parking is a breeze Seating is extremely limited. I think there were only four or five tables in there. Most were in there just to get the food and run, also known as takeout. This is a can't miss for sandwiches. I saw they had extensive other choices, but come for the star, the roast beef. I really enjoyed my visit here, it was local, the vibe was really cool and friendly, and the place was really clean. I noticed an ice cream store attached, which looked very inviting. I think I would stop there after having lunch here next time. Thanks to Vinny's, I really enjoyed my visit and I look forward to returning again in the near future. This was quite a haul coming from northern Connecticut down to Wallingford, but was worth every mile. I drove home with a smile on my face.

A few of my foodie friends put me on game regarding this place that's about a 25-minute drive for me, but always so worth it. Here's why I love it so much! Atmosphere/Appearance: Set in the center of Wallingford a little off of the main drag of Center Street is this humble gem. You can park on the street for free if there's space or in the plaza parking lot right up the block from them. Once in the door you're welcomed by several smiling faces and that makes ALL THE DIFFERENCE! This place is predominately made for takeout. There are no physical tables, but you certainly can pop a squat on the benches near the back of the restaurant if you'd like. Service: There isn't necessarily table service since all you do is order at the counter and wait until your name is called, but the people there are so sweet, soft and will just make your day! They're also full of personality and their social media posts are super funny. Lol. Food: I've had several things from their menu here including the Backyard BBQ Sandwich, Savannah Wrap, Vegan BBQ Mac & Jack Bowl, The Hungry Slope, BCB, Roast Beef and more! These are some of the highest quality, made-with-love sandwiches, tastiest, creative sandwiches around! I just love how every several months they change the menu up introducing new flavors for the season so you never know what you're gonna get! Of course the favorites stay on the menu! Value: These sandwiches aren't cheap, but you have to pay for quality. Expect to spend between $11.00 and $15.00 here for a good meal. Then add on whatever else for drinks or sides, but it's worth it. In conclusion, I love this place, I just wish they were closer AND that they were opened on weekends, but they keep the hours tight to allow their employees to have lives. I give them even more respect for that! Check this place out soon!

Onto the drinks and food which were so delicious and truly enjoyable. I got the Beachy Bee Iced Latte special, which is a honey vanilla latte with a coconut cold foam and toasted coconut on top (simply divine)! My fiancé got the cappuccino which was made just to his liking, and he's a coffee connoisseur. For food, I had the Bumble, which I highly recommend, with scrambled eggs, subbed with the gluten free sourdough bread (+$2 up-charge) and cheddar instead of American cheese. It's served all day and had so much flavor with that garlic butter, and the seasoned steak. Yum! If you are gluten free like me, you will appreciate that they have the gluten free sourdough bread or a gluten free wrap to substitute with. My partner had the Basic Bee with bacon and thought it was flavorful with light and fluffy scrambled eggs that complimented the bacon well. Overall, I would really recommend this place if you're looking for a breakfast or lunch in Wallingford!

I normally try to give places the benefit of the doubt, but our experience at The Bees Knees Bistro…read morein Wallingford was honestly very disappointing and upsetting. My family and I arrived while it was raining outside with our young daughters in strollers, expecting to sit down for a meal and get out of the weather. Instead, we were told we could not come in with the strollers and essentially felt unwelcome the moment we walked through the door. As parents of babies who are still too young to sit safely in high chairs on their own, the strollers are not optional for us , they are necessary. We were not being disruptive, rude, or inconsiderate. We were simply trying to have a meal as a family. Rather than attempting to accommodate us or show any understanding, we were left feeling like having children made us an inconvenience. What made the situation even worse was the fact that it was pouring outside. Any level of kindness or flexibility would have gone a long way. Instead, we felt embarrassed, frustrated, and honestly shocked by the lack of compassion and customer service. Families with young children already face enough challenges going out in public, and experiences like this make it even harder. We ended up leaving and taking our business somewhere else that was far more welcoming and understanding toward families. It is disappointing because we were genuinely looking forward to trying this restaurant, but first impressions matter. A restaurant does not need to be "kid-centered" to still treat parents and babies with basic respect and decency. I completely understand that restaurants may have space limitations or policies, but there is a respectful and compassionate way to handle situations like this. Instead, the experience came across as cold and dismissive. There are many restaurants in the area that are happy to accommodate families, and moving forward those are the businesses I will continue to support. Unfortunately, after this experience, I will not be returning and would not recommend this restaurant to families with infants or children who still require strollers or extra accommodations. I wont be going back and giving them .you business, nor will I be recommending this place to anyone. Totally rude and discrimination towards those with babies. I did not feel cherished like their website says every guest is. Its sad because this will and im sure does effect their business. I will never give them my business after yesterday. No attempts at accommodating us or evening offering to let us sit outside, lazy staff, but yet there were 3 teenage girls taking names for the wait list. What a joke.
