I have been to Amore Apizza several times over the years. All though it's never been my go to place for pizza.In this area there are many pizza resturants most of them are good, some are very good,and for a short drive further, some are excellent.I do find their pizza to be good but nothing more than average. I was at work and my coworker said we should order pizza for lunch. I agreed. After discussing where to order pizza from, she offered to search for pizza places with vegan options. A few minutes later she asked me if I've ever had Amore's Pizza. Nope. She asked me if I'd ever heard of Amore Pizza. Nope. She said they have vegan cheese, want to try it? Yup! She put in the order and less than an hour later, our pizza was delivered. Great on the time. The pizza was really good and the vegan cheese was really good. My only complaint is that they were a bit skimpy with the cheese, but I know that stuff ain't cheap. The pizza itself was really good! I'd definitely let my coworker treat me to ore Pizza again.... Aww, heck, I might even pay for it myself next time. ;) read more

I have ordered from Amore about three times now. The first 2 times the food was excellent. We really enjoyed the Vodka pizza and the Alfredo dinner is wonderful. The customer service has always been great. They are thorough when it comes in ensuing your order specifications when you call. Unfortunately yesterday we received a BBQ chicken pizza that was definitely a no for me. After taking a few slices out of the box, I noticed a piece of my pizza had an inch long white hair coming up from the crust. I hope that they can follow my hygienic practices to keep this from happening to other customers. It will be quite awhile before I order here again. read more

I'm sorry to leave this review. We have been customers for years. But, something has changed. I don't know if it's new ownership, or different cooks, but the food is DEFINITELY different. This was are last purchase. For the last couple of times we've ordered, the food was bad. This last time, the pizza was burnt to a crisp, dry and you couldn't find the sauce or cheese with a magnifying glass. The lasagna dinners gave us the runs for two days. The salad was okay. After recently moving to Wallingford, I received a voucher from Amore Apizza as a "welcome to the neighborhood" gesture, which was awesome. I picked up a large pepperoni and spinach pie from them on a Saturday afternoon and the pickup was fast and painless. I didn't realize they were located right next to Neal's until I pulled into the lot, that's a great 1-2 punch. The pizza itself was very good, and I suspect the other dishes they have are also solid. Amore Pizza shares the same small building with Neil's Donuts and Bake Shop. I'd visited to check out Neil's, but stopped into Amore to scope out their knots. Tale of the tape: Garlic Knots - mid to large in size, while not oily, they unfortunately have just a slight garlic flavor. The knots are a bit chewy on the inside without being too overly doughy. All in all not bad, but for a true garlic connoisseur, one is left wanting a-more.... I gave a 3-star, as it's not fair to rate a place based on one menu item alone. Should I return to Neil's, I'll stop by Amore for some of their pizza fare. read more

I've had pizza from Amore Pizza a few times now, and to me, it rates three stars. That may seem a bit harsh, but there are so many really great mom & pop pizza joints in Wallingford that it takes a really special pizza to rise above that three star average. Amore Pizza just doesn't. Listen, in many other markets this would be a four, or perhaps maybe even a five star pizza joint, but the quality of pies, grinders, calzones, and pasta dishes offered here relegate it to mediocrity in Wallingford. Used to be the best in town now just a laughing stock. Last 3 times I've tried for delivery they where missing half the order. Today went to do it as pick up only half my oder was ready at the pick up time. Told it would be only 5 10 more mins. They would run it out to the car when ready. Went in after 25 mins still not ready. Told again 5 more mins this time after 15 mins went inside to see more order pushed off to the side and the people in the shop just mucking about. read more

Pretty good pizza at fair prices. I have gotten their buffalo chicken pizza a couple times, make sure to specify what sauce that you want (came with red once). Adding toppings can get expensive here so watch out. Their dinners, salads, and apps are very reasonably priced. This is one of the best I have found here since moving here from new haven, but it falls short of the Pepe's and Modern style pizzas. Update: got the wings and they were the worst I have ever had. the eggplant parm grinder was really good, but how can you mess that up? read more

Pizza is pretty good. The reason i gave 3 stars is for two reasons 1. We ordered a last and they cancelled are order (due to the storm). While I respect there reason (even though i think it was drivable) the thing that bothered me was the lack of communication. We got a notification )from uber eats) saying that they cancelled the order but with no other info so we had no idea why or if it was a glitch in the app. 2. We ordered today from uber eats and despite saying my drink was available....it was not. Now, the availability of the drink was the main reason why we ordered. They did call and ask us about a replacement. However, I was not interested in any of the other drinks but I was forced to order something because they couldn't cancel the drink and refund us the money. So basically I am now paying for something that I don't even want and I'm not gonna drink. It's just slight inconveniences but for me it's enough to try and stay away next time unless I call and confirm they have my drink and are able to deliver to us. read more

Put a very large order in advance to be delivered to my daughter's dorm. I needed it delivered at 11pm sharp. I can not tell you how accommodating this staff is! I spoke to 3 different employees about order details at different points, and each person I spoke with was unbelievably friendly and gracious. The kids said the pizza was delicious too. I ordered through ubereats and was late 45 minutes to my order. I couldn't track it as it was being delivered by the restaurant themselves. I called to get and update and they hung up on me. When I called the second time they said I canceled which I never did. I spoke to a lady who was in charge and she didn't even tell me about her driver's status. They blew this and lost me and ubereats as a customer. I will only use DoorDash and there are better options out there for pizza. Lame manager with no social skills. Disgusting! read more

I believe this won a pizza contest in Wallingford...either best cheese pizza or best original pizza. Either way, this place makes a damn good pizza . They also carry Foxon Park sodas which not too many places around here carry. I recommend sticking with the pizzas and grinders. The wings are crap and the salads are essentially entire heads of iceberg lettuce and a carrot. This is also take out/delivery only. They do not offer tables and chairs for full dining. read more

Time for an update from my review 3 years ago. I have been to some events where people had this pizza,and I was surprised that I really enjoyed it. I ordered it a few weeks ago for myself and found it to be much improved from my prior review (which was written after several poor experiences). While it is not my favorite pizza place in the area, it is in the top few places-PLUS they are open days when others are not and they deliver. I was tremendously disappointed. I have never done this and honestly don't believe in it, but I am disgusted. I ordered through doordash and there were certain choices given. When I received the wrongly prepared food I called the restaurant. I started by just asking basic questions about how the food was normally prepared in case I didn't read the menu correctly . When I asked specifically about the food and explained what went wrong, the extremely rude woman I spoke to basically told me it's my fault and to call doordash because it wasn't her problem. Of course that's not verbatim but that's the gist. You should be ashamed of yourself for treating any guest like that. If this woman is the manager she desperately needs re training and needs to learn patience and empathy. I spent $30 to throw all of my food away and nothing was done about it by them. We ordered take out and loved it! The food was delivered quickly, but more importantly the pizza was really, really good. It was a crispy, thin crust with a perfect amount of char (presumably from an old fashioned brick over). The cheese and toppings were also excellent.
