Okay A1!! I've lived in town 26 years and had never tried their pizza until last week, and it seems I've been missing out! As soon as I opened the pizza box, I knew it was going to be good. After living in Naugatuck for a year I finally stopped here and grabbed a grinder because I was jonesing for something a bit better than Subway, but it was a Sunday so Nardelli's was closed. The BLT grinder was pretty spot on, although the sandwich was a bit skimpy in size. The people working seemed to be pretty nice - the last review was a while ago, so maybe they've gotten rid of the pissy and rude employees. Below average pizza especially for the area. The restaurant just looks sad. It reminded me a frozen pizza, bland and nothing to write home about. So many better places to eat in the area, there's no reason to stop here. They do deliver but really subpar food. Grinder was okay as the bread was good, but they really skimped on the meat and it was dry. Just look at the picture I posted, the pizza toppings look plastic for God's sake. I will hand it to them, they didn't skimp on toppings. I'm not going to call it bad pizza as it is better than Bellisimo's, but A-1 is definitely below average. My initial experiences with A-1 Pizza were mostly positive. The pizza was at least better than chain, but I wouldn't call it spectacular or anything. My subsequent experiences were far worse. After ordering a gyro from A1 it became apparent that there was little regard for whether or not the food would get delivered soggy. I had thought to myself that maybe that was just a one-off and decided to give it another go. I ordered a meatball grinder on my 3rd try. Again, soggy! It was neither tasty or crispy. It's not the worst I've ever had and as a result survives as a 2 star in my book. Not recommended. read more

I can't comment on the food, but I can comment on the attitude of the employees and the boss. I called for delivery, the phone was answered with a very bored-sounding "A-1". That's it. Seriously? And the first phone number listed on their website is wrong. I ask if they deliver to Prospect, he asks where in Prospect. I understand that, but I'm off of a main road. He says he'll have to ask his boss. He comes back "Boss wants to know how much you gonna spend". Um....excuse me? Yes, I understand minimums. I understand everything that goes with delivering to an address not in 2 miles. So clearly their delivery and busy-ness are at a low that I'd be their only delivery, and they would only come out if I was going to spend a lot. It's the attitude. He couldn't give a sh*t if we ordered or not. There were many ways to convey that they wouldn't deliver a mere $10 worth of food to me way out here in the apparent boonies. I love A1. We used to order all the time; their wings are awesome as well as their wraps and curly fries. I've moved back to Naugatuck (the Eastern section; up in Indian Hills) and was surprised to find that our address is out of their delivery area, which makes me very sad. I had to go pick up my food (because I was dead set on having A1 for dinner!) and the employees behind the counter were courteous even at 9:30 at night. I always give fair reviews for restaurants I visit. If the food is good, I can overlook average customer service. However, this place is WAY OVERPRICED for MEDIOCRE FOOD!!! A small order of buffalo wings (no celery available) and a meatball grinder = $18.00 (pick up price). Meatball grinder = 3 microwaved (luke warm) rubber balls, split in half, hidden in this chunky concoction they call sauce, and a mere hint of plasti-chesse. All dramatics aside, this was inedible. I got stuffed shells and a side of meatballs. EVERYTHING was from the freezer. I threw it out! The meatballs, in particular, were disgusting. Still cold in the middle and very elastic. Taco Bell should get a Michelin Star when compared to A-1. Had a pizza delivered last night. My husband called and ordered an extra large legend pizza. The girl on the phone told us $22.28. When the guy can to deliver he told us the total was $25.28. We thought it was weird that we were given 2 different prices. My husband called after we got the delivery to again question the price, again we were told $22.28. Not sure if the delivery guy is adding a couple bucks on top of his deliveries to get more tips or what. But lesson learned to always ask for a receipt. This is the only place in Naugatuck I get pizza. I recommend my personal favorite broccoli and feta cheese pizza with some of thier blue cheese dressing as a dipping sause. Drives are always fast and nice. Deff a hidden gem in Naugatuck. read more

I get food from here a couple times a month. Their pizza is very good except for their vegetarian pizza. It's very soggy and not edible. I love veggie pizza( I'm not into pepperoni, sausage,bacon,mushroom etc.). If they made their veggie pizza more solid and not soggy I would definitely order from A-1 a couple times a week. Also their hot grinders are very soggy also. Their salads are good except I'm not a fan of the droopy lettuce. read more

Their drivers have a very bad habit of adding at least $2-$3 dollars to your order. The two times it happened to me I asked to see the receipt and sure enough they lied about the amount. This was a major dissapointment. I made this account just to inform the concerned people of Naugatuck that this place sucks actual balls. My name, is infact, not Susan d. ( d for dissapointment), but rather I decided to change my name to this after acquiring a less than exciting buffalo chicken wrap from a1 pizza. Let's go through all the aspects of the wrap that disappointed me today...... 1) they probably took the wrap and wiped their ass with it seeing as it was quite trashy. 2) the chicken tasted like rubber (SURPRISE THE RUBBER FACTORY IS BACK IN NAUGY) 3) the hot sauce was probably sitting in a tub from China, that was pissed in by the rats behind the restauraunt. 4) the cheese tasted like the scum between my toes and made my nose cringe. 5) the fries that accompanied by bullshit chicken wrap were soggy, barely salty, and quite reminiscent of the Irish potato famine when they had to use squash as substitute.
