Picked up a pizza with broccoli and spinach recently. It did the job but I didn't love it. The crust tasted a bit bland cracker-y and the sauce and cheese just weren't anything to write home about. The broccoli was very small pieces rather than full florets. Pros- I liked that they cut the pizza into many small slices, and service was fast and easy. 12.19.25 They only have take out, to go orders here. I'm a little torn & conflicted with this review. I've been here a handful of times and they're a little inconsistent. The pizza is good and consistent though. It's not awesome like it is at their West Haven store, but it's good. Good flavors & toppings. They do make their own sausage for those meatlovers out there. Where i fall flat are with their meatball parm grinders. In my opinion they're nowhere as good at the pizzas. They do fall short with their grinders. I keep trying them to try and end up with a better result than the previous time but it hasn't happened. So I'll stick to their pizzas. The last time the meatball parm was barely warm. It cooled off or they didn't warm it enough. The pic shows the mozzarella cheese has cooled. The pic was taken as soon as I got in the car to leave. "We all know our cameras eat first." The flavor isn't really there either with their meatballs. Other than that, the flavor with their pizzas are good. Tasty cheese and sausage. Don't forget the fox on park birch beer though. It's a must. Crisp & refreshing. The store inside is very small. It is very clean though. They only have medium 14" pizzas. I tried for a small and was told only the medium. That's totally fine. No issues with that. Service is fine whenever I'm there. What is don't like is that you don't get a printed receipt. Only text or email it to you. I don't go for that. I need to check my receipts when I eat out. You never know. And speaking of never knowing. Most recent visit, I was surprised how one meatball parm grinder and one sausage pizza came to $39 and change. But i shrugged it off and paid. Made sure i grabbed to go menu to check price. I went down the street and pulled over to do the bath with their menu. What I came up with is they charged me for an additional topping. Not cool. Not good. I called them to mention what happened. They made good though. I explained who I was, that i just left. Gave them my name. They checked. They realized and said I'd receive a credit in a few days. Thankfully they were correct. I did see that charge go back on my credit card as a credit. Happy that they're trustworthy, which they are. read more

Zuppardis is good, really good. Very sauce forward which imo is great. Good acidity -the tomatoes are very tomatoey. The sausage here is also very good, top tier. Highly recommend the Zuppardi's special as well (sausage, mushroom, mozzarella) My only gripe with Zuppardis is that more toppings = more flop. The Special holds well but from what I've seen when there are more than three toppings on the pizza, the structural integrity of the pizza begins to fail. The 14" pizza at Zuppardi's price is actually pretty versatile. But this particular location is for take out only so that's the niche they're targeting. Zuppardi's is one of my favorite pizzas in CT, especially with their home made fennel sausage. This particular location is takeout only. The best thing about it is that you can get the classic Zuppardi's pizza BY THE SLICE during lunch hours. I don't know of any other New Haven style apizza (apeets) places that offer by the slice. They don't have an old school brick oven but the pizza here is still fantastic. It very much tastes almost as good as their original location in West Haven. Definitely recommend. read more

This review is for Zuppardi's Apizza in Ansonia. The pizza was very good although not as good as the original in West Haven. This location is take out only, which was a bit disappointing. The building is small, with limited parking. And Beaver St is a 10 minute drive through neighborhoods. So you place your order, wait a bit (they are reasonably efficient), pay and go home. For me, eating pizza at the restaurant is always much better. But overall, a very good experience. Highly recommended ! And try the West Haven location. There you will find amazing. !! read more

Zuppardi's Apizza is a satellite restaurant or sister restaurant of Zuppardi's in New Haven. I can't believe I took so long to get her considering I only live five minutes away. I usually go to the one New Haven. The restaurant was very clean and the staff were very friendly. I ordered a half Cheese Pizza with Sausage and Pepper's. The pizza tasted just as delicious and flavorful as the one in New Haven. When I arrived the pizza came fresh out the oven and the sauce had great flavors and the crust was phenomenal. In my opinion that's the best of the pizza. The menu is simple and straight forward and the slices looked delicious. I will definitely be back since there's one five minutes away me. read more

This was my first time here. my friend and I ordered a buffalo chicken pizza with ranch. The pizza was cooked perfectly. The amount of ranch drizzle was perfect. My buddy added the Parmesan. Pizza was really good. They have a cute little table outside that we ate at. This place is more of a takeout. They do slices up until 3 PM I believe. Parking lot can only fit a few cars hence the more so take out place. I would definitely grab pizza from there again. read more

I have been going to Zuppardi's in West Haven since I was a little girl. I was very excited to learn that they recently opened a satellite restaurant in Ansonia. Today, I officially tried out the new Zuppardi's slice shop and take out apizza on Beaver Street. Aside from traveling the roller coaster ride through the Ansonia roads to find the place, the trip was worth it. For the first time ever, I tried grandma's white square pie with ricotta cheese. At $5.50 a square, it was rather small but full of wonderful flavor! The staff was friendly and efficient. I would like to encourage Zuppardi's to consider opening more satellite restaurants preferably near Orange,Connecticut too! read more

On the list of famous New Haven apizza spots. The original is a little off the beaten path but has a solid stake in the apizza game. Great to see them expanding & their pizzas have been sold via retail grocery stores in the freezer section. We ordered half sausage & onion/ half red pie. Nice char, great chew to the thin crust. Zuppardi's sauce has always been indicative of the New Haven pies - tangy tomato sauce, not sweet, but a little saucyer than the others. Overall a great pie. Take out only. Been trying to get here to try this location for a while and decided to get takeout dinner here. I called ahead to inquire which slices were available and if you need to order beforehand or anything of the sort. I was surprised to hear the "slice shop" doesn't have slices after 3pm. There were a few slices of cheese but they let me know they don't have any speciality pie slices after that time. Bummer! So we just ordered a cheese pizza and skipped slices, they only come in medium. It was enough for 2 people with a piece or two leftover. I also got a Caesar salad which was fresh but the dressing was sweet. Not sure how they could do that with a Caesar. I'd be willing to try here again for lunch instead of dinner since the cheese pizza we did get was pretty good. read more

I'm new to the area and my bestie suggested this place. Was hoping they had tables inside but sadly only take it. I ordered garlic bread for an app. It was really good! I would, and have argued that Zuppardi's has surpassed Pepe's in quality and taste. It's up to you, the casual yelper, to decide - but please give it a fair try. Order your favorite pie. Same tricks to make the same dough, just beautiful char & chew. They also screwed up our order, but because the pie ripped in the oven they gave us a free one. Just handed us two full pizzas for the price of one and explained what happened. The "damaged" pie looked perfect to me! Who is going to complain about free pizza? Not me! I'll happily recommend them, and I've made it a habit to order a pizza from them every Friday since. read more

Zuppardi's pizza is decent enough, and it tastes similar to Modern Apizza, but it definitely misses the mark. For one thing, when I took the pizza out of the box it was very floppy and I couldn't eat it in the car. So, my suggestion is to "wait for the pizza to cool down," because mine was a soupy mess. But with that said, under the right circumstances, wet, greasy pizza will indeed hit the spot. One of the high notes for Zuppardi's is that they put plenty of cheese on the pie; on the low-side, the sausage they used was way to salty. So, a little less salt would have definitely upped the quality of the pizza. As for the crust, it was good, but it didn't taste like that old New Haven char that we all know and love so much. So, overall, I definitely give Zuppardi's 3 out of 5. And I'll reiterate, it's a decent apizza, but I wouldn't put it on the same level as Sally's, Frank Pepe's, Modern or Bar. read more

Stopped in at the end of a 35 mile bike ride. I walked in, staff was friendly, I ordered a slice. They warmed it up for me. A few minutes later, I was on my way. Great place to stop at the end of a ride. Will likely be stopping more often. Pretty good slice, though more on the thick side than what I'd consider "apizza". I didn't want to be this person but I tried this pizza for the first time today because I was excited. Everybody rant & raves about it... well unfortunately, it was not what I expected. The prices are outrageous and the pizza was doughy on the top and burnt on the bottom and on crust. It also had no flavor. They also cut the pizza slices very unevenly. I'm not sure what the hype is about. Definitely not worth $43 for 2 pies. Won't be going back or recommending to anyone. read more
