Tuesday night trivia night in the bar area. Place was packed! Servers were harried but so, so pleasant! We had wings, pizza and a pasta dinner and everything came out quick and good. Come and stop in!

Pizza was terrific . Salad sucked . So next time just pizza .

Friendly staff and good pizza. We ordered the goat cheese pizza with mushrooms and artichokes and the Caesar salad pizza. Both were very fresh and flavorful. We also ordered wings which were very tasty.

What happened to this place? It used to be good, last three orders horrible Pizza under cooked and burnt at the same time. Chicken Ceasars salad no chicken.

The reason the sandwich was eaten was because we work in a hospital and it was this or nothing. We also ordered the chicken Parm grinders and the steak and cheese egg roll. The egg roll was disgusting and the chicken parm grinders were bland and the chicken overcooked and tough.

Recently came here with my friends and my fiancé for some dinner. We came around 7:30 and the place was bustling! We ordered the garlic knots to start and they were great! Light and airy! Delicious. I opted for small chicken parm pizza, my fiancé had the garlic bread pizza and my friends had a large half cheese half sausage. The crust on the pizza was phenomal! Nice taste and chew like the New Haven greats. Sauce was also great too and cheese! I wasn't a fan of the chicken on my pizza however as it was really dried out. We will def come back, just will avoid the cutlets.

I recently visited New Haven Pizza Place with a friend who is a New Haven pizza fan and fellow Food Blogger. We had attended a pizza making class this year and one of the people there had recommended NHPP for pizza in the Milford area. We ordered a large Mozzarella with red sauce, and a small Specialty pizza with eggplant, meatballs and chicken cutlet pieces, which was too original to pass up. We ate there at one of several tables. The atmosphere was fine, but not really a draw. One of the old Patriots' Super Bowl games was on the television. Service was very friendly. When I think about New Haven style pizza, my mind goes to the crust. I thought NHPP nailed the crust. Thin. Good mix of crisp and chewy. Good char. A legit NH crust. The other parts of the pizza were fairly good. For the Mozzarella, neither the cheese nor the sauce popped for me, but they were both decent. The meat components of the Special Pizza were pretty good, but they didn't seem to compliment each other. If I returned I might try something like a pepperoni and peppers, because the crust was so good, it's really just a matter of finding your order at NHPP. The chocolate cannoli were very good by the way. 3.5 Stars

We had an amazing New Haven style pizza while on a tour trip of Yale. This pizza was exquisite. Perfect in every way! Lots of toppings too. Thanks for making our trip to New Haven so memorable.

New Haven Pizza Place is a New Haven-style pizzeria that opened in Milford, Connecticut in November 2017. It was founded by pizzaiolo Frank Bernardo and his wife Joanna. The Bernardo Family plays a large role in Greater New Haven's rich pizza history. Family patriarch Luigi "Gigi" Bernardo immigrated to New Haven from Naples, Italy in the 1960s. In 1974, Gigi opened his own business "Gigi's Bakery" on Chapel Street where he made baked goods and pizza. The family moved the business to Grand Avenue in 1982 and they continued to operate it until Gigi's retirement in 2001. He passed away in 2009. Gigi passed down his culinary talents to his seven children (including sons Frank, Arsenio and Luigi Jr who all became pizzaioli). In 2013, Frank modified a 1946 International Harvester fire truck into a mobile wood-fired pizza truck and thus the New Haven Pizza Truck was born! The truck became very popular with customers as it traveled around Southern Connecticut visiting wineries, breweries and festivals. Eventually Frank and Joanna decided to bring their delicious wood-fired pizza to a brick and mortar location in Milford. In late 2021, Frank decided to take a step back to focus exclusively on the pizza truck. Since that time, the pizzeria has been operated by his brother Arsenio and his niece Amanda. When the unit next door became available, Amanda and Arsenio decided to expand the pizzeria with a new bar and dining room that opened in February 2023. Last week my family and I visited New Haven Pizza Place for dinner. We had previously sampled their pizza from the truck, but this was our first visit in the brick and mortar location. My wife's uncle (who lives nearby) joined us and we were all seated in their beautiful new bar and dining room. For cocktails, I had "The Sinatra" (Tanqueray gin, Campari, sweet vermouth, orange bitters, fresh orange wedge) and my wife had the "Amanda's Sangria" (red wine, seasonal fruit, limoncello, club soda). These were classic Italian-style cocktails and very flavorful. For an appetizer, our waitress recommended Bruschetta for the table to share. The presentation was very nice and the flavors were so good! For pizza, we ordered a "Classic Mozzarella" Pie (with half pepperoni) and the "Mashed Potato Special" (mashed potato, bacon, caramelized onions, mozzarella). The ingredients were great and the crust was so thin and perfect. We washed everything down with some Foxon Park White Birch Beer. There were no leftovers by the end of the evening. We were so full; no room for dessert. I must tip my hat to the owners and the staff. We all had a memorable experience at the New Haven Pizza Place and we look forward to returning!

Really solid pizza. The star is definitely the sauce. Love the veggie pizza. If you're vegan it's still solid without cheese!

Kwok has more than 20 years experience in the hospitality industry. Some of the other restaurants he has opened include Sweet Basil in Fairfield, Pink Sumo Sushi & Sake Cafe in Westport, and Eat Noodle in Bridgeport. Kwok and Nguyen's latest venture opened at the Connecticut Post Mall in a restaurant space that was previously home to Cast Iron Chef Kitchen & Bar, which specialized in tavern-style pizzas cooked in a cast-iron skillet. 8 Thousand Pizza offers this same style of pizza, but what sets them apart from the previous pizzeria is that they also offer self-pouring technology, which became legalized in Connecticut in 2021. The food menu features two dozen tavern-style pizzas as well as burgers, wings, fries, salads and soups. Through the use of a supplied electronic bracelet, customers can self-pour their own beverage from a selection of 28 craft beer taps and 6 wine taps. There's a two-pint or 32-ounce limit for the self-pours. I recently visited 8 Thousand Pizza for dinner. I had previously visited the space when it was Cast Iron Chef Kitchen & Bar and was sad to hear that they moved. However, this new business concept of a tavern-style pizzeria with self-pouring taps sounded very interesting to me. This was actually my first visit to a self-pouring taproom, as these types of establishments only just began opening in the state in the last few years. After looking over the menu, I decided to order the "Grandma's Tomato Pizza" (fresh mozzarella, tomato sauce, roasted garlic, tomatoes and EVOO) and the "Hot Honey Pepperoni Pizza" (tomato sauce, pepperoni, hot honey sauce and mozzarella cheese). The latter happens to be 8 Thousand's signature pizza. Both pizzas had crust so thin that it's almost cracker like; they didn't flop at all. They were super crispy with excellent sauce and toppings. I honestly can't decide which one I liked better; they were both very good. During my visit, I enjoyed some self-pours of Grey Sail Brewing's "Captain's Daughter" (Double New England IPA) and New Park Brewing's "Cloudscape" (American IPA). Delicious pizza with craft beer is always an excellent pairing! I had a really nice experience at 8 Thousand Pizza and I hope to return with my family.

The best kept secret for the most authentic, deliciously seasoned and best Mexican food in Milford!…read moreThey are some of the kindest people I've met and they truly put a ton of TLC into the dishes they make. They offer many great combinations for pizzas but the real MVP here is the Mexican dishes they offer. If you know what mole is, then you know. They make the absolute best mole enchiladas I've had (and we have had a bunch). My boyfriend is half Mexican, so I am very particular with getting it when out and about but Pancho's is hands down THE BEST! Also their tacos are to die for!! Definitely check them out, you won't regret it!!

Don't let the name fool you. Sure, Panchos Pizza makes a good pizza, burgers, grinders, pasta…read moredishes and more, but the Mexican food here is the star. It more than competes with any of the upscale Mexican restaurants in the area, and the prices are very reasonable. I've been ordering take out from here since they opened, and the quality has remained very high. Today I ordered The Chicken Enchilada dinner. They give you four enchiladas smothered in cheese and salsa verde, a small salad, and an order of rice and beans, and three kinds of salsas, all for under $14.00! No other restaurant that I know of gives you such an abundance of great Mexican food for that price. I also ordered a small Nachos Con Queso, which was also generously proportioned and delicious. I am pretty particular when it comes to Mexican food. I've had some of the best, having lived in New Mexico for three years. Panchos is as good as the best the Southwest has to offer. It's not "Americanized" Mexican fare, but remains authentically true to it's roots. I heartily recommend you give it a try some night if you like authentic Mexican food, for selfish reasons: I don't want to see them go away. Don't let their location fool you, a small, unassuming shopping center on Route 1 in Milford.
