I've lived in Seymour for a while and this place is the closest to my home. I used to order pizza here, but I quickly realized that there are many other places around Seymour, and the Valley, that serve much better pizzza. The 5-star ratings for their pizza must be made by those who haven't left Seymour for some time. I got into the habit of ordering pasta dishes from this place once or twice per month for years. This wasn't due to the quality, just the proximity to my home. The sauce was rarely fresh but I didn't mind so much as it was a short drive I'm not difficult to please, and I like to support local. More recently, I placed an order for my regular pasta dish. There was a different woman who answered the phone than the regular girl. I told her what I wanted, then the call was disconnected. There was no verbal confirmation of my order no information about when it would be ready, or the cost. I called back multiple times and repeatedly received a busy signal. It was getting late and I ordered elsewhere before everyone was closed. My order was never confirmed. A couple of weeks later, I attempted to place the same pasta order at Hot Grill. I was told I would have to pay for my previously unconfirmed order if i wanted to order from them. I explained what happened with my previous order and was met with indifference. The new person answering the phones informed me that she had the permission of the regular nerdy girl who runs the counter to fleece me for $15 dollars for a $4 dish that I never received. Enjoy your savings, Hot Grill. I won't put you out of business. You never were good enough for me to spend that much. My only regret is losing the very short drive to this place. But that is offset by my driving slightly further to get significantly better pasta dishes at other Seymour restaurants. read more

Not even a 1 star. Ordered chicken piccata and cavatelli with broccoli RABE and sausage. The photos speck for themselves. When I called and let them know that it was broccoli, I was offered $5.00 off my next purchase. The same $5.00 coupon that comes in the mail attached to their menu. They use Slice and i ordered delivery but apparently delivery was not available. They took my money and slice was no help. I order from this place once a week and they do not care. Avoid Slice and Hot Crusty piece of crap. They lost lots of money by using slice that piece of shit company. read more

Since moving to Seymour this has become my families go to for pizza. Have tried only two other spots but HGP is what we always return to. Their pizza is really good, the staff are friendly, they deliver (for free) and they offer more than just pizza as well. My family snd Zi highly recommend this spot! Was a bit of a wait because they were so busy, but it turned out to be my favorite pizza in Seymour. We got a flyer in the mail and decided to try it. It said it was under new management, but we're new to this area so I have no compare point. I ordered the hot grill favorite and a regular cheese pizza. I also got some wings (free with a coupon from the flyer) and some fries. They apologized over and over for the wait but it really wasn't that big of a deal. I got delivery here today at my Dad's house in Beacon falls probably 5 minutes down the road. Delivery was pretty quick, which I appreciated. Pizza was pretty expensive (27 dollars for two cheese pizzas). The pizza itself tasted pretty good, 6.5/10. Good sauce, large size of the pie. The delivery driver was sort of rude and the guy on the phone was not really that nice either. When I asked him to confirm the address he made it seem like a big deal. He also seemed annoyed that I wanted to pay with a card. There are a ton of pizza places up this way so I don't know if I will be back. The food was pretty good but pricy and service definitely was not there. read more

Food is not fresh . Meatballs are frozen from restaurant Depot. Wings are cooked on Monday for the next weekend . They cook the eggplant cutlets in the microwave. Take a look at the alleyway behind the building you'll be so disgusted during the summer there's so many flies back there it's gross. Also the owner is not nice he gives you an attitude. Pretty solid choice for pizza in Seymour....stands about above the countless abysmal places that are abundant in the area. Toppings are fresh and flavorful, although they do skimp on the cheese and the crust is a tad too crispy. We ordered the white pizza topped with shrimp, broccoli, and basil. I could hardly taste the basil and there were maybe 5 shrimp on the entire pie, but overall it was pretty good. The grinders are huge and could easily feed 2 or 3 people each. One of my sisters ordered the sausage and peppers and the other ordered the chicken parm. From what I gather, both were good, but not great. Decent pizza place. I ordered a mushroom pizza for takeout, which was priced reasonably and tasted okay, but nothing special. The main upside to the pizza I had was the fact that the mushrooms tasted fresh, unlike the canned variety many pizza places use. One complaint is that they were pretty slow; it took around 15 minutes for the takeout pizza to be ready. I've been to this spot before. I ordered a meatball parm dinner and it tasted like someone poured tomato paste on top and called it a day. I was obviously disappointed and hadn't gone back until today. I wanted pizza and wanted it from somewhere new. Saw this this was close to my place but didn't realize it was the same place until I got there. Great staff, my order was ready so I took it home. Large bacon and mushroom and some wings. This place changed management not too long ago so I gave it a try. First thing I hear is someone speaking Italian in the chef's area. Being brought up by an Italian mother I knew this was a good sign. All the service people spoke perfect English so I was able to order with no issue and the food was ready in a jiffy. Best Pizza and wings I have had locally in years. I got delivery after this and they were there in under 25 minutes. Food was hot and cooked perfectly. The crust is like fried dough with Sauce and cheese on it. How could you go wrong? The new management should have YELP get rid of the reviews from before they owned it. Always sceptical about ordering dinner entrees for delivery but this place nailed it twice! The pizza isnt Wooster St but it is still pretty decent. Veal parm was great. Salad was super fresh. Nice to have a new goto delivery restaurant in the area that you can trust. This is the 2nd time we've ordered from Hot Grill and Pizza this week. Tonight's dinner was delivered 20 minutes before estimated time! The Sicilian pie is delicious but a little too crispy around the edges. The hot Philly subs are pretty damn good as well. We will definitely be ordering from them in the future. I used to order from here at least once a week - when they first opened! they got full of themselves and the quality got worse and worse! Stopped ordering completely but would stop in for a slice because that was the only thing left worth the money. Tonight was the worst experience I've had from ANY restaurant I've ever ordered from in 30 years!! I called ahead to ask if the new lobster roll they're advertising is real - they assured me it was! I called back to place my order for delivery. My order arrived and lo and behold IT WAS THE IMITATION CRABMEAT I FEARED IT WOULD BE!! WHICH IS WHY I ASKED IN THE FIRST PLACE!!! I DID NOT WANT TO PAY 10BUX FOR IMITATION CRAB MEAT!! I called back to complain. I was told the reason I was told it was real was because I part time worker answered the phone. Not once did they say, 'it is real' - no, they said the part-time worker gave me the wrong info!! I finally got in my car, 'lobster' in hand, hobbled in (i'm disabled) and asked for my money back - the owner refused and told me it was real - even tho I heard him in the background the entire time during the whole - 'the parttime person didn't know' phone call!!! He REFUSED to give me back my 10 bux - he would rather this I guess -and all of the people that I happen to know hearing my complaint!! You should be very careful Hot Grill Pizza!! If you had just given me back my 10 bux I would've shut my mouth and been happy. You don't know who I know! You don't know who is now going to get my review!!
